Bible Question:
What is the significance of the kinds of animals? Why three years old for the heifer, goat and ram? Why a heifer, a female goat and a male sheep? (2 girls and a guy!?) |
Bible Answer: Mommapbs, I have nothing to offer on the gender divisions. Howevere it is worthnoting that most of the animals sacrificed by the Israelites were worshiped as gods in Egypt. When Moses wanted to lead the Israelites into the desert to offer scrifice, Pharoah refused and suggested they sacrifice where they were in Egypt. Moses responded that the sacrifice the Israelites would make would be an abomination to the Egyptians. Why? Because they would be scrificing their gods. See Exodus 8:21-28 Ex 8:26 But Moses said, "It is not right to do so, for we will sacrifice to the LORD our God what is an abomination to the Egyptians. If we sacrifice what is an abomination to the Egyptians before their eyes, will they not then stone us? Emmaus |
