Bible Question:
Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD said to Abram, "Go forth from your country, And from your relatives And from your father's house, To the land which I will show you, When we were to take this verse as a personal calling from God, what would be the "country", "relatives" and "father's house" God calls us to go away from? (concrete examples please) I would like to have an idea, what God wants from us from such a calling. Thanks. |
Bible Answer: I believe that you are over-spiritualizing this narrative. I cannot think of any scriptural authority by which that such a spiritialization can be made. Although, one might draw a parallel with Christ's statement: Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last first. (Mark 10:29b-31) |
