Bible Question:
Gen 11:10-32 recording the descendants of Shem till Abraham's birth. My calculation shows the number of years between the flood (reference to V10) and Abraham's birth is 292. Kindly check if it is correct. Thank you. Shalom Azure |
Bible Answer: Azure, If you can post your calculations it would be a lot easier to check, but you you made me curious so I asked the internet that question and here is what I found. Answers.com: According to Genesis, Noah was born 1056 years after Adam was created. At the time of his birth, all his direct ancestors were still alive, except Adam, Seth and Enoch. Again, according to Genesis, Noah lived 950 years. Abraham was born 1948 years after creation. So, he was born 892 years after the birth of Noah, who was still alive until Abraham was about 58 years old, although it appears they never met. Here is the break down I pulled from another site: Adam to Seth 130 to Enos 105 to Cainan 90 to Mahala 70 to Jared 65 to Enoch 162 to Methuselah 65 to Lamech 187 to Noah 182 totals 1056 years. From Noah to Shem 500 to Arphaxad 102 to Salah 35 to Eber 30 to Peleg 34 to Reu 30 to Serug 32 to Nahor 30 to Terah 29 to Abram 70 totals 892 years. Hopes this helps (and is accurate) |
