Bible Note: Dear nocompromise, Russellite beliefs are not rooted in a desire for truth. SThe choices of the translators are well documented regardless of the approach with which they begin the process. All translation is a "compromise." The exposition of truth will never support or encourage the dissemination of a lie. Truth doesn't change in response to deception. It is simply the truth. In Greek, the word aion can mean world or age depending on context. I am unsure why people find this so confusing. If I said to you, "I am running." You would immediately understand. But what if I added the following phrases? I am running late. I am running a fever. I am running a machine. I am running tests. I am running for office. I am running away. When translating these sentences into Chinese, would anyone insist that the only word meaning "moving swiftly on foot" was necessary for an uncompromising translation? :-) In Him, Doc |
