Subject: God speaks Truth, Light and Salvation |
Bible Note: Gods Word is Truth, Illumination and Salvation Some people insist on taking Gen 1 (and the whole Bible for that matter) 'literally'. I think it is literal to a fair extent, but I think there is important information and Truth in the underlying message that is obviously being given. The first written occurrence of God speaking is concurrent with the appearance of Light (essentially - God said "Become Light" and became Light). When God speaks it has the effect of casting light (understanding, truth and illumination) upon that which is able to perceive it.(Mat. 13:9-17, John 1) At the beginning of Day 1 the earth was adrift in darkness and confusion (lack of Truth, reliability). (Gen. 1:2) God's speaking is a form of redemption for those who would seek and accept it. Truth is defined as that which is reliable/unchanging/steadfast. Therefore it has eternal value. Truth is a necessary part of any foundation, otherwise whatever is built upon that foundation will eventually fail. God's Word is Truth and therefore valuable and reliable, He will not fail His own Word. When you hang your life on His Word, He accounts that as faith (Abraham for example). He loves to see His children relying on Him and He rewards them with grace. (Ex. Mat. 15:22-28, Mark 5:25-34, Eph. 2:8) Jesus is the Word of God. Jesus was "In the beginning". Jesus is the light of the world. (John 1:1-7). Jesus is Truth, Light, God's Word. Whether or not a person chooses to pursue Truth is matter of the will of the Spirit and dedication of the individual. Prayer along with acts of faith can awaken/reignite even the dimmest of spirits. It is one of His gifts to us. Every day in His word is a good day, even with trouble! |
