AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 1:2 The earth was formless and void or a waste and emptiness, and darkness was upon the face of the deep [primeval ocean that covered the unformed earth]. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters. |
Bible Question: I have a question regarding the Holy Spirit. The reason I ask is because for example: when Christ healed the blind man in John 9 Christ had the Holy Spirit but the man who was healed I assume did not. My belief regarding some Holy Spirit enablements are that people receive the Holy Spirit because they have faith in Christ as their personal savior. However, this does not make any sense to me, when christ healed the blind man the Holy Spirit was not made available to us until the day of apentecost. So this blind man had nothing within himself to enable him to be healed since he was not filled with the Holy Spirit? I know that Christ could heal because the Father gave him the Holy Spirit but I do not understand how today people can have less than a miracle (for example one may say I was enable by the Holy Spirit to get a revelation from the bible) yet the blind man was able to see eventhough the Holy Spirit was not made available at that time until the day of apentecost. I Hope I made myself clear. |
Bible Answer: I agree with jlpang. The Holy Spirit has been here since before creation, and has moved in the life of believers at many times, although He has not not INDWELT believers until after Pentacost. For example, David asked God not to take His Holy Spirit from him when he sinned (PS 51:11). How would this be possible if the Holy Spirit had not been present in David's life to begin with? Not that He indwelt David, but that David knew of the Holy Spirit's presence, if you know what I mean. This is just one example, there are others (which of course I can't think of at the moment!). He was always there, even though He did not indwell the believer. |
