Bible Question: How much rain had to have fallen to keep the ark floating for weeks? |
Bible Answer: Hi RIC and GINGERBREAD! The best scenario (see for example AnswersInGenesis.com) is that at the time of the flood Mt. Everest DIDN'T EXIST! The major mountain ranges formed by tectonic plate movements as the fountains of the deep opened - the Atlantic opened up, the Alps, Himalayas, Rockies and Andies all got shoved up DURING the Flood. The land was much flatter before this happened, so far less water required. If the earth was leveled out today, there is enough water in the oceans to cover to a depth of 1.5 KM! |
