Bible Question (short): To sacrifice or not to sacrifice ? |
Question (full): NIV Psalm 40 5 Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare. 6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but my ears you have pierced burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. 7 Then I said, "Here I am, I have come- it is written about me in the scroll. Psalm 51 15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise. 16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise Here are 2 verses that say the Lord does not desire, delight, take pleasure or even require burnt offerings. I think there are some other similar references that I cannot find at the moment. After reading the old testament system of tabernacle sacrafice setup by God , what are we to make of these verses ? |
