Bible Question (short): Questions on 2 Samuel |
Question (full): My questions are below: 1. 2 Sam. 23:13-17 - Why wouldn't David drink of the water? Was it because the three mighty men went and risked their lives without direction from the Lord? 2. 2 Sam. 23:18-23 - I'm confused re: Abishai being "chief of the Three" (v.18) and then "He was held in greater honor than any of the Thirty, but he was not included among the Three" (v. 23). How could Abishai be chief of the Three but not be included among the Three? 3. 2 Sam. 24:10-13 - The Lord told David to "Go and take a census of Israel and Judah" (v. 1), yet in 10-13, David was conscience-stricken after counting the fighting men and was then punished through the remaining Samuel Scripture. Is this because he counted them as "fighting men" and not simply counted them? Why was he punished for doing what the Lord asked him to do in v. 1? |
