Bible Question (short): Is God capable of sarcasm, are people 1? |
Question (full): This verse in Gen 11:6 seems to be sarcasm, as God is using it to ridicule those who are constructing the Tower of Babel. Can the verse be applied to people today, as in God's people being one? I do not see much evidence of this. So the verse must be interpreted in context. In the prior chapter, Noah's sons are listed and they are divided, but in the first verse of ch 11 it says they were all of one language. So then in vs 8, when the Lord scatters them and they leave to go buid the city, is this the same city which is mentioned in vs 4? Is God even capable of sarcasm? It seems so, fo in Gen 3:22, God uses it to ridicule again, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil... Sorry so many questions, but they are all related to verse 6 |
