Bible Question (short): help me understand Gods harsh punishment |
Question (full): In Exodus 4, God has already chosen Moses to lead people out of Egypt, however, Moses does not follow a command of circumcision so God is going to kill Moses for this. I understand we have to follow the commandments, but does it really mean that God was going to kill Moses. That seems pretty harsh. It seems to me that during that time period, punishment was very harsh. Could it be that it was just the people's perception that they would be killed because that was how things were done back then? I'm confused because I believe God to be loving, but this God from Exodus seems less loving but more judgmental - my way or the highway. Please help me understand. |
