Bible Question (short): fig tree |
Question (full): In Mark 11:12-14 its says: 12 On the next day, when they had left Bethany, He became hungry. 13 Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 He said to it, ""May no one ever eat fruit from you again!'' And His disciples were listening. My understanding is that the fig tree is a representation of a believer and the point of these verses is to show the importance of bearing fruit. My question is, why would Jesus seek figs at a fig tree if it was not in season? Also, why did He curse it? Does this mean that we are to bear fruit in season and out of season? |
