Bible Question (short): trust and faith |
Question (full): this question is about trust - when i am driving and i see another motorist stranded on the side of the road, my first immediate inclination is to pull over and see what assistance if any i can offer, my usual actual reaction though, is to continue driving by. i've been terribly bothered by this, especially in light of the story of the good samaratian. when discussing this with my wife, she insists that things today are not like they were then and that god gave us tools such as cells phones to use thereby keeping us safer from the results that could arise when one risks a face to face, especially here in NYC. i know that trusting or surrending to god does not mean tempting him by walking off the roof of a 20 story building, expecting that i will survive. my question is what kind of trust are we discussing and how do i find the correct balance? how would one ascertain if it's his own shortsightedness that may lead him into what would otherwise be a unnecessary life threatening situaton or that of his god's inspired will? thanks |
