Bible Question (short): Forgiven or not Forgiven? |
Question (full): Just as adding any human activity to faith in Christ for salvation nullifies salvation; why wouldn’t the effect be the same when adding any human activity to the action of Confess in I John 1:9 and thereby nullifying forgiveness. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. God forgives us when we confess our sins only because of what Jesus did on the cross for those sins. I’m not forgiven because of X amount of remorse or sorrow or an overactive guilt complex. When one repents as an “unbeliever” he has a change of mind and then believes in Jesus and receives indwelling. When one repents as a “believer” he has a change of mind and confesses his sins for forgiveness and is restored to fellowship. Are there any opinions on this? CDBJ |
