I would just like to add this. What denomination did Christ Jesus claim to be of? What did Paul say about denominationalism in 1 Cor. 10-17? Did he approve of it? |

983 | Mom died Angry with God | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 50255
It would be so easy for you to just give up and quit on God. But that is exactly what Satan would love to have you do. God can at times allow difficult circumstances to come into our lives. He desires that we do not become bitter or grumble when the difficult times come. It is especially at these trying times, we need to continue trusting in God, and looking to Him for guidance and direction. Continue praying for your boyfriend and for yourself as well. Don't give up on God, God never gives up on anyone EVER!!!! It is in these trying times that you both need God, like never before. God in His timing will help you both to understand. You need to prayerfully and faithfully wait upon Him and His timing. "Heavenly Father, when we long for life without trials and work without difficulties, remind us that oaks grow strong in contrary winds, and diamonds are made under pressure.” (Jim Marshall Sr.) "God hath not promised, Skies always blue. Flower strewn pathways, all our lifes through. God hath not promised Sun without rain, joy without sorrow, peace without pain. But God hath promised, strength for the day. Rest for the labor, light for the way. Grace for all trials, help from above. Unfailing sympathy, undying love." Annie Johnson Flint |

984 | Scriptural Support Requested! | Rom 8:14 | New Creature | 50248
God truly can mold us and reshape us. He initially created us, and He can re-create us if we wants. He is the potter and we are the clay. We need to yield ourselves to His molding influences. He desires to continue the transformation work that He began within us. We are a work in progress. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. "Mold me and make me, after Thy will. Thou art the potter, I am the clay. While I am WAITING, YIELDED, and still." " You are the potter, I am the clay, mold me and make me, this is what I pray. Change my heart oh God, make it ever true. Change my heart oh God may I be like You." |

986 | bible reference to support remarrying | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 50231
Scripture says; The Holy Spirit shall teach and guide us into all truth. (John 14:26 and 16:13) I believe it must sadden the Lord today when many Christian's rely on their favorite book author or commentary writer, to tell them what portions or verses of scripture mean. They not only rely on human opinion as being the final authority for Scripture explanation, but refuse to trust that the Holy Spirit will be their teacher, as Scripture so clearly states. Today the Bible, and the Holy Spirit take a back seat to human interpretation. So we today end up with a lot of untruths, and half truths mixed with truth, which result in disagreement, division, and denominationalism. |

987 | bible reference to support remarrying | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 50211
Has not God promised us that the Holy Spirit, will guide and teach us? (John 14:26 and 16:13. Is He not sufficient and trustworthy? Or do we now need to trust faliable men to teach us? Do we not have a Divine teacher, a trustworthy teacher, matter of fact the only trust-worthy teacher in the Holy Spirit? 1 John 2:27 states that if we have the annointing of the Holy Spirit upon us, we need not that any man teach us. This once again proves that the Holy Spirit and the word of God are all the trusting one needs. And is in fact the only truly reliable source that can be ultimately trusted. |

991 | bible reference to support remarrying | NT general Archive 1 | New Creature | 49940
You are correct The only Bibical grounds for divorce that I can find is reserved for adulterous circumstances. Concerning when one divorced can remarry the following Scripture seems to say, only upon death of ones spouse. To marry someone who is divorced while the spouse still lives makes both adulterers. 1 Cor. 7:27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. 1 Cor. 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. |

992 | trapped in marriage | Bible general Archive 1 | New Creature | 49844
Fornication is Bibical grounds for divorce, however the scripture I provided seems to indicate that the once divorced, any one marrying the one divorced commits adultery, so re-marriage would then be out of the question, except in the cause of the death of the spouse Matt 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. Matt 19:9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery. 1Co 7:10 ¶ And unto the married I command, [yet] not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from [her] husband: 11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to [her] husband: and let not the husband put away [his] wife. 1Co 7:39 ¶ The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. |

Many say yes, and many say no. But what God's word says is what matters. Study the following verses Luke 8:13 and Mark 4:16-17 John 15:1-6 Rom. 11:13-22 (especially verses 21-22) 1 Tim. 4:1 Heb. 6:4-6 Heb. 10:26-29 2 Pet. 2:20-22 Rev. 2:4-5 |

995 | Asking for gifts of the Spirit? | 1 Corinthians | New Creature | 49516
Good question. Lets see what Scripture says: 1 Cor. 14:4 He that speaketh in an [unknown] tongue edifieth himself 1 Cor. 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not 1 Cor. 14:23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in [those that are] unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad? 24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or [one] unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all: 25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on [his] face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth. From this text you will see that it is prophesy that the unbeliever is convinced or convicted, and the secrets of his heart are made manifest, and falling down he will worship God. So it is prophesy not tongues that convinces the one who believes not. It is prophesy not tongues that cause the one who believes not, to fall down on his face and worship God. At least thats what 1 Cor. 14:24:25 says. 1 Cor. 14:23 says if the unbeliever comes and hears you speaking with tongues he will say you are mad or crazy, and possibly nuts. Tongues is more for self edification, than for edification of the body of Christ (see 1 Cor. 14:4) which I posted Paul also said that he would rather speak five words with his understanding that by his voice he might teach others, rather than 10,000 words in an unknown tongue (see 1 Cor. 14:19) But we do read that tongues are for a sign, to them that believe not (1 Cor. 14:22) notice it says for a sign, NOT for CONVICTING the unbelievers. below is Strongs definition of "a sign" 4592 semeion (say-mi'-on) from a presumed derivative of the base of 4591; TDNT - 7:200,1015; n n AV - sign 50, miracle 23, wonder 3, token 1; 77 1) a sign, mark, token 1a) that by which a person or a thing is distinguished from others and is known 1b) a sign, prodigy, portent, i.e. an unusual occurrence, transcending the common course of nature 1b1) of signs portending remarkable events soon to happen 1b2) of miracles and wonders by which God authenticates the men sent by him, or by which men prove that the cause they are pleading is God's However the word "convinced" elegchosin in the Greek in 1 Cor. 14:24 means conviction So it is prophesy not tongues that convicts according to the Scripture I provided. Study those verses and I hope they help |

998 | Asking for gifts of the Spirit? | 1 Corinthians | New Creature | 49451
Scripture does not say we are to ask for gifts of the Spirit, however it does say we are to covet them. 1 Cor. 12:31 But COVET earnestly THE BEST GIFTS: 1 Cor. 14:39 Wherefore, brethren, COVET to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. ___________________________________________ Covet 2206 zeloo (dzay-lo'-o) from 2205; TDNT - 2:882,297; v AV - zealously affect 2, more with envy 2, envy 1, be zealous 1, affect 1, desire 1, covet 1, covet earnestly 1, misc 2; 12 1) to burn with zeal 1a) to be heated or to boil with envy, hatred, anger 1a1) in a good sense, to be zealous in the pursuit of good 1b) to desire earnestly, pursue 1b1) to desire one earnestly, to strive after, busy one's self about him 1b2) to exert one's self for one (that he may not be torn from me) 1b3) to be the object of the zeal of others, to be zealously sought after 1c) to envy |
