I think since she started the concept I would pursue the issue and ask her what she has to back up what she says. This will give you a great opportunity to present the Gospel to her and you can back it up with thousands of years of prophesy that has come true, the Bible. If she isn't into Indian folklore, she just might be a couple fries short of a happy meal at which case you will find out either way. |

922 | What is the sign of the Davidic covenant | Ps 89:34 | CDBJ | 33714
The answer that I think you are looking for or the sign is the sun and the moon. David has prophetic as well as historic significance. When the kingdom of Israel had been firmly established, David yearned to build a suitable temple for the Lord. But David was not permitted to build that house. Instead, God spoke to David (2 Samuel 7:12-16) and promised to build David a house! That promise of a Davidic dynasty is understood in the Old Testament to have the force of a covenant: an unbreakable promise or commitment made by God. David was promised that after his death, a descendant of his would be established as ruler of a kingdom to be set up in God's name. God said, “I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever” (2 Samuel 7:13). David's line was promised the perpetual right to Israel's throne. Even though David's immediate descendant Solomon sinned in such terrible ways that he deserved to be set aside, the kings of Judah were always from the Davidic line. Because of David's faith, God did not treat his descendants as He had treated Saul's. Sin would be punished, but David's line would never be completely cut off. God's promise to David is recognized in the Old Testament and the New Testament as an amplification of the ancient Abrahamic Covenant. The Davidic Covenant explains the means through which the earlier promises to Abraham will be fulfilled! As Psalm 89:3-4 expresses it: You said, "I have made a covenant with My chosen one, I have sworn to David My servant, "I will establish your line forever and make your throne firm through all generations' " And again this great prophetic psalm affirms the certainty of God's promise. I think the sign that you are looking for is in Psalm 89:34-37 Psalm 89:34-37 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. 35Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. 36His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me. 37It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. 923 | Is there judgement or not? | John 12:47 | CDBJ | 33658
If one wants to be thoroughly confused compare John 12:47 with John 5:22. John 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: To try to understand anything of God's Word apart from the Holy Spirit teaching those that are born again, it is utterly impossible; that it why those that are not of God's family say that the Bible is so full of counter dictions. Jesus in so inner twined with the Bible that one cannot differentiate between Jesus and the Word of God because that is who He is. John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak. John 12:50, speaking of Jesus could go on further to say, and so (I Am). I hope that I didn't confuse you more! |

924 | How do we test ourselves? | 2 Cor 13:5 | CDBJ | 33437
Robert, I think that you are missing the point that Kalos was trying to make. I think that you will see it after you have been on the forum a while. You are proving your point from God's word that comes from the witness that is within you. There are many on the forum that might come up with the same answers but it is coming from churchianity and not a personal relationship with Christ. There are those that try to lift up a their religion every chance they get to prove some off the wall point and it is usually obvious to everyone but them. In some cases the condition of their soul isn't all that obvious and the Lord gave us a parable to show such a situation. Matthew 13:24-30 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. You will notice that it wasn't until verse 26 that the tares were recognized and that was because the fruit that came forth was different. This is what Kalos is trying to show them, that they need to examine them selves to be sure that they are in the faith because their fruit is not the same as those that are of pure wheat. |

925 | Can Rapture Really Take Place...? | Acts 2:20 | CDBJ | 32894
The actual word rapture isn't used in Scripture but the concept of being caught up is. There are many verses in the Bible that convey the concept of what has come down to us as a word of accommodation and it lumps it all together as the rapture. 2 Thes. 1:10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. What a lot of believers fail to recognize is the fact that when Jesus removes His church from the Earth that he will clobber those that are left behind on the same day. There isn't a time period per say for those left behind to make a decision for Christ. Look what precedes the last verse. In flaming fire doesn't sound like a second chance to me, coupled with everlasting destruction, the word (when), signifies the time of this action. 2 Thes. 1:6-10 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. Most all believers are quick to quote the verse that say, of Christ return, that He will come like a thief in the night, but fail to realize that this is only speaking of those not looking for him. He won't come as thief to those who know what to look for. 1 Thes. 5:1-4 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. There are two groups mentioned here, (they) unbelievers, and (you) believers. Christ explained the same situation and gave us an illustration in Matthew. Matthew 24:36-39 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Notice it say that this all happened the same day the Noe entered into the ark. The day that the Lord lifts us up He is going to clobber those left behind. The same thing happened to Lot. Luke 17:28-29 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; 29But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Do you see anything familiar in this example; the same day? As soon as lot was removed BANG, God clobbered them. So many Christians are saying that we don't know the day or the hour of Christ return, which is true. But the Bible sure predicts that things that will be taking place just before He comes. The Bible says that we will not know the exact day or hour but we will know the times and season by the events taking place. There are signs a plenty for us mentioned in the Bible to watch for. Anyone that tries to say that we won't know the season is falling under the guidelines of being deceived by someone. Matthew 24:3-4 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. Paul also says that there may be those that try to deceive us. They may even be well meaning believers within our own ranks that have twisted Scripture around because it sounds nicer to them or more pleasant to the hearers. 2 Thes. 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; I don't see any doctrin to back up a false hope for those left behind! There is a verse in Timothy that I think you should consider. 2 Tim. 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. The lord has so richly blessed America with an abundance of great doctors more so then any other country in the World. Don't let your emotions dictate in making a bad decision. It would be a good time to use the sound mind approach to your problem or you might end up a looser all the way around. Do a lot of praying of which I am sure that you have. |

928 | What happened to these cities? | Matt 11:21 | CDBJ | 30977
Matthew 11:20-24 Judgment on Cities Judgment oracles against nations were standard in the Old Testament prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel); they also appear in the Jewish Sibylline Oracles before and during the New Testament period. The principle that those who had more light were judged more strictly appears in the Old Testament (cf. Amos 3:2; Jonah 4:11). 11:20-21. Jewish people thought of Tyre and Sidon as purely pagan cities (cf. 1 Kings 16:31), but some of their inhabitants who were exposed to the truth had been known to repent (1 Kings 17:9-24). “Sackcloth and ashes” was dressing characteristic of mourning, including the mourning of repentance. Chorazin was a short walk, less than two miles, from Capernaum. »Bibliography B. Seen in the condemnation of the cities (11:20-30) (Luke 10:13-15, 21-22) 11:20-24. Though it was not Jesus' primary thrust in His First Advent to pronounce judgment, He did denounce sin. Here He specifically pronounced condemnation against the cities in which some of His most significant miracles had occurred—Korazin Bethsaida, and Capernaum, all three near the Sea of Galilee’s northwest shore. By contrast, three terribly wicked Gentile cities—Tyre and Sidon (v. 22), cities on the Phoenician coast 35 and 60 miles, respectively, from the Sea of Galilee (cf. 15:21), and Sodom (11:23), more than 100 miles south—would have repented if they had seen Jesus’ miracles. Their judgment, though terrible, is less than that on the Jewish cities. All three Galilean cities, in spite of their greater “light,” rejected the Messiah, and are today in ruins. Though Jesus lived in Capernaum for some time, it would not be lifted up to the skies, or exalted. Instead its inhabitants would go down to the depths, literally, to hades, the place of the dead. |

929 | Salvation: Instantaneous, progressive? | Ps 68:19 | CDBJ | 28429
Hi Charis, my wife was studying in Mark today and ask me about a verse that triggered a thought; it is along the same lines as your question of salvation being progressive. I don't think salvation is progressive once it actually happens, but I think that maybe being born again or coming to the point of salvation might be. Paul and James speak of the word as that which can germinate a life, as it were, within us. Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. The word engrafted comes to us from the Koine Greek word Emphutos, em meaning in and phutos (a form of phuo) meaning to germinate or impregnate. Thus, for one to be born again they must be impregnated by God's Word. John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Couple this with 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. Now we have all heard and know these verses very well, but I wonder if anyone has ever considered that all living things have what is known as a gestation period; some are longer then others? It is the time between conception and birth. All of the functions of life are in place, but the actual birth hasn't taken place yet. There are numerous miscarriages in physical life, maybe by comparison that is what happens when someone hears the Word and gets excited for a while, then they return to their old ways: They didn't go full term to spiritual birth and received a new nature. They might show all the symptoms that a new believer has just before birth, but they turn back and are stillborn. Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Food for thought and I am sure it needs more research, CDBJ |

930 | Is your salvation genuine? | 1 John 5:13 | CDBJ | 27502
If you want to know for sure if you are saved, let God convince you. Study in his word every day especially in the New Testament. 2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. There will be times when you will doubt your salvation and this is normal unless you know a lot of Scripture. When one stops and thinks about it, unsaved people don't wake up in the morning thinking about the Lord. At some point in a believers morning, thoughts of the Lord cross their minds; this didn't happen before they were born again! That is what is meant by having the witness, coupled with having, as it were, the down payment or earnest of the Spirit. 1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 2 Cor. 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. It is interesting to note the word sealed. It meant that you were safe because the King had wax put across the opening of say a door and then pressed his signet ring into the wax. If anyone messed with the Kings mark it was sure death. And that is how sure our salvation is once we trust in God's Son Jesus Christ. The word earnest means the down payment, which is God's Holy Spirit Himself and your body is where He dwells. 1 Cor. 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? |

931 | God does not dwell in an unclean temple. | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 26854
Hi ALLYSON, I have heard this myself many times and it has usually been in evangelistic in nature. The one proclaiming it always wanted those hearing his message to clean up their act as a form of repentance before believing on Christ or to show that they had. They seem to assert that in order to believe in Christ, you shouldn't be doing the big ten, don't smoke, don't go to movies, don't dance etc. By not doing these things it meant that you were a new creature in Christ. A lot of people have been turned off because of the do's and don'ts. I always found that when a person came to true saving faith in Christ, and dug into God's Word, that the Holy Spirit changed their life style around. The Holy Spirit cleans up the temple as He wants and sets it aside by His word, for His use. John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. The people that tried to clean up their own lives usually end up worse then they were before, and they still aren't saved! 2 Peter 2:20-22 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. If they don't have a new nature all they are doing is cleaning up their own act and sooner or later, if they are not a new creation in Jesus, they will return to their old self. As I see it, God does the cleaning of the temple and it is usually a process that comes about with the intake of God's word. CDBJ |

933 | "am I wrong in thinking that you pray to | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 26346
This all sounds real sanctimonious but you still have averted the question, how do you know with Biblical proof, that they hear your prayers? I don't know of many that were any closer to the Lord then Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob not to mention David and many others: yet when the Disciples came to Jesus and ask that he teach them how to pray either those who had gone on before were not to be prayed to, or he forgot to mention them. I would imagine that in your synopsis that the later would have to be considered as the probability. My self I think that I would rather go with the sure thing and just pray to the Father as Jesus recommended. Just think, what if one of those saints that you have been praying to all of these years really didn't make it to heaven. He might be one of those the Christ spoke of in Matthew. Matthew 7:21-22 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Notice the first word in verse 22, many. He goes on to say in verse 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. They might have known a lot of saint and gone through all the rituals but they didn't have a personal relationship with Jesus and he said that He never knew them, what a shame, so near yet so far! 934 | gluttonous man and a drunkard | Luke 7:34 | CDBJ | 25989
What other kind of wine is there? I don't recall that wine was used at the last supper though, seeing that is was a celebration of the Passover. The fermentation, or yeast process, wasn't even used to make the bread. Don't confuse wine with the fruit of the vine. The Bible does say that Christ drank wine; which is not a sin. It is no more a sin then eating; just as with drinking wine, when one eats too much they can be sinning; it's just not as devastating to others. Now if this answer causes someone to go on a binge just remember the verses in Romans! Romans 14:21-23 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. 22Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. 23And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. I answer this with reluctance, CDBJ |

935 | Alter Calls? | Rom 10:9 | CDBJ | 25172
I know exactly where you are coming from as our pastor does the same thing. It wasn't until I read one of his books that I found out what he was doing, and then it made sense to me. He mentioned that there are fallacies in Christianity such as baptismal regeneration, church membership regeneration, and decisional regeneration. Most true believers know of the first two but not many are aware of the last. I mentioned in another post that there are a lot of so-called believers that think that they are saved because they went forward in someone's service. Really all they did was to jump through someone's psychological hoop. The key is in John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. The only thing that can help a person when going forward in any service is one on one with God's word being opened up by someone who knows Scripture; a good example is in Acts. Acts 8:26-35 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. 27And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, 28Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. 29Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. 30And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. 32The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: 33In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 34And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? 35Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. We must remember that faith comes by hearing God's word not by walking an aisle. There are some that have faith in the fact that they went forward and they tell how they came to God. There is no mention of Jesus Christ and what He did for them. They are no more saved then before they got up out of their seat. I hope this helps but if I were you I would still talk to the pastor. 936 | what does second death mean? | Rev 21:8 | CDBJ | 25043
Toto, I think the answer to your question lies within the understanding of the word death in the language of the original Koine Greek. The word that the English word death was translated from was the word THANATOS; it actually means separation. In physical death, the soul is separated from the body. In spiritual death, the soul is separated from God as in the case of all unbelievers even while they are alive physically. When we are born into this world we are born physically alive but spiritually dead, or separated from God; hence the need to be born again. At the point of physical death all unbeliever's souls go to a place of temporary abode, hell; this is spiritual death realized by the unbeliever, death number one. There is a time in the future when all those in hell will stand before God for judgment. The bases of this judgment will be their work, which will be found lacking in the balance compared to the work of Christ. They will be separated from God for a second time into the lake of fire forever. Thus, this is the second separation from the presence of God or spiritual death number two. It is my firm opinion that after seeing God face to face that this encounter will make the lake of fire much worse just knowing what they missed out on. It will be Jesus doing this judging because the father judges no man John 5:22. I hope this helps, CDBJ
937 | What is a two-edge sword? | Heb 4:12 | CDBJ | 24186
The Roman sword was the weapon spoken of by Paul. It was unique in that it was sharp on both edges. It could also be used to stab with the point. Many swords of that time were very heavy or too long and the user was off balance a lot of the time. The Roman sword never left the user off balance and since it was sharp on both sides it didn't have to be repositioned after a swipe at the enemy. Each solder carried his own personal sword for offence but it could absorb blows as well so it was good for defense also although the shield was primarily provided for this purpose. The Roman sword was the most versatile weapon to ever hit the battlefield of that time. The only thing that could be better, would be a sword that was sharper, hence we have Heb. 4:12. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. |

938 | we are more than conquerors romans 8 | Romans | CDBJ | 24182
(cf. Rom. 8:1) 8:35-37. Paul’s final questions are in verse 35: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? The context (vv. 37, 39) shows that “the love of Christ” is His love for believers (not their love for Him; cf. 5:5). The apostle suggested seven things a believer might experience (Paul experienced all of them; 2 Cor. 11:23-28) that some might think could come between a believer and Christ’s love—trouble (, “pressure or distress”; mentioned frequently by Paul in 2 Cor.) or hardship (, lit., “narrowness,” i.e., being pressed in, hemmed in, crowded) or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword. These things—stated in increasing intensity—do not separate Christians from Christ; instead they are part of the “all things” (Rom. 8:28) God uses to bring them to conformity to His Son. Then Paul quoted Psalm 44:22 to remind his readers that in this life the people of God must face much affliction (cf. John 16:33) including even martyrdom for some. In the early days of the church one or more Christians were martyred every day, or faced the possibility of it. Their persecutors valued Christians’ lives as nothing more than animals to be butchered. In all these adversities (cf. “all things” in Rom. 8:28 and “all things” in v. 32 with all these things in v. 37), rather than being separated from Christ’s love, believers are more than conquerors (pres. tense, , “keep on being conquerors to a greater degree” or “keep on winning a glorious victory”) through Him who loved us. Jesus Christ and His love for believers enable them to triumph (cf. 2 Cor. 2:14). (BIBLE KNOWLEDGE COMM. NEW TEST.) |

939 | where is all men are not going to heaven | Matt 7:21 | CDBJ | 24154
Not only are not all men are going to heaven, but the Bible says that the numbers are few by comparison. Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Jesus states that he is the gate therefore there aren't many who find him. John 10:9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. |
