8301 | what about the K J V | Rev 3:10 | EdB | 25091
Joe Once again I know this is true if the current Geneva Bible but I didn't know this was the case of the original. I'm not challenging you here but do you have any reference to this? EdB |

8302 | what about the K J V | Rev 3:10 | EdB | 25100
Nolan Thanks for the info, can I clear what might be a misconception. You used the word "predecessor" and from that many might make the assumption that the Living Bible and the New Living Translation are in some way connected. This to my understanding is not the case. Both were attempts by their respective originators to produce a Bible with far different intents. The Living to be a literal paraphrase albeit it contained many of the authors prejudices. While the NLT was “dynamic equivalence” “a translational attempt to have the same impact on a modern reader as the original had on it own audience.” EdB |

8303 | what about the K J V | Rev 3:10 | EdB | 25160
Joe Thanks for the information. All my training on the Geneva Bible had left out any information about the extensive informational notes within it. I was always told there was just some minor translator type notes and I thought the Geneva Bile that is now in print had just included commentary by the modern editors of the Bible. I had heard the story about King James and his dislike for the translation of the King Asa story and therefore had ordered his translators to correctly translate the passage on King Asa but they translated it exactly as it is today and the King wanting to continue win the esteem and continuing support of the people allowed the work to proceed. I never knew it was directed at the the Geneva Bible I just assumed it was aimed at the Great Bible. Thanks again for the info. EdB |

8304 | Can we afford to be neutral? | Rev 3:16 | EdB | 140482
lionheart No the church can't aford to be neutral but for some reason we go from one side of the road (doing nothing) to the other (trying to force Jesus down people's throats). I think our "daily" life should testify of Jesus every second we live. Instead of fighting so hard for a manger scene in the park we should be trying harder to show Jesus in our love reaching out to lost and dying of this world. In the first, second and third century it wasn't how the Christians fought the establishment that won Rome to Christ. It is was how Christians lived and died that brough many to Christ. We should be the first to mention the name of Jesus and to trust that name to our death. But people must see Jesus through our life before they will desire Him in theirs. EdB |

8305 | Who are the 24 elders in Revelation 4:4? | Rev 4:4 | EdB | 242115
While scripture doesn't fully reveal their identity, a lot of evidence points to the twelve tribal fathers of the children of Israel and the twelve Apostles. Most theologians that offer an opinion also agree that the most likely choice is the twelve sons of Jacob (who became the tribal leaders) and the Apostles. That be my opinion. |

8306 | Why Passover? | Rev 5:12 | EdB | 240222
On Passover what saved the children of Israel? Was it not the blood of the chosen Passover lamb. Jesus the Passover Lamb chosen by God shed his blood to save us from death. Just as the Passover lamb saved those of first Passover.
8307 | Does this include satan as well? | Rev 5:13 | EdB | 104047
dfk4jc There is two ways to take this very literal, and then yes, it would include Satan and the demons. Remember Satan still answers to God, look at the book of Job. However I think 'every' is hyperbole. I think the passage is speaking of everyone that worships God willworship but those in rebellion will not. EdB |

8308 | Four horsemen? | Rev 6:1 | EdB | 140089
To give a detailed answer would require much more room than the Forum alots for answers. Most see the first horse the white horse as the Antichrist in attempt to conqueor the world The next horse steals peace from the world. What little peace there is and the world is embroiled in turmoil and confusion. The third horse the black one represents worldwide famine. With all the turmoil and fighting going on the world's supply of food will be vanquished. People will actually starve to death in horrendous numbers. The fourth or pale horse represents death through all that is taking place the world will see one fourth of it's population die. Presently the world population is placed as 6 billion people. One fourth would represent 1.5 billion people dead. The US has about 300 million people as it would be five times all the people in the US dead. Not a very pleasant time. EdB |

8309 | Who is in heaven with Jesus right now? | Rev 7:9 | EdB | 237150
Okay let us look at this way. Angels, since they are heavenly beings, the Elders old Testament Saints lead home Eph 4:8, and those saints that have died and gone home to be with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 (NASB) 6 Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord— 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight— 8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. So if we look at this way what is described in Rev 7:9 while a glimpse into the future reveals some of those that are present with the Lord at this point in time. |

8310 | Idolatry | Rev 9:20 | EdB | 241877
Most excellent quote. Thank you! When I first read this quote it shook me to by very foundation. I believe God has been showing me this for a long time. Some how people have decided they can take the parts of God that they like, find easy to emulate or that they agree with and discard an aspects of God they don't like, can't follow or that they disagree with. They take these points and call it their god. That is not the God of creation but rather the god of the created. |

8311 | WHAT PROPHET ATE BOOK | Rev 10:9 | EdB | 127109
Best known example John in Rev. 10:9 So I went to the angel and said to him, "Give me the little book." And he said to me, "Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth." Lesser known cases Jeremiah and Ezekiel Jeremiah 15:16 Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O Lord God of hosts. Ezekiel 3:1-3 Moreover He said to me, "Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel." [2] So I opened my mouth, and He caused me to eat that scroll. [3] And He said to me, "Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you." So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness. EdB |

8314 | who are the 2 witnesses in rev 11;3 | Rev 11:3 | EdB | 141400
Since scripture does not identify them we can not. There is speculation that they are Enoch and Elijah both of which were taken to Heaven without tasting death. There is also support for Moses, John the Baptist, Jeremiah and other prophets. However the truth be told we simply don't know. EdB |

8315 | Two Kingdoms of God in separate times | Rev 11:15 | EdB | 225549
There are many venues called kingdoms. We have kingdoms of man or of this world and kingdom of God. God is soveriegn and as such all are subject to Him. So in that sense there is one kingdom God's. However we see all authority was given to Jesus so in effect God turned His Kingdom over to the victor Christ Jesus. But we must remember there is one God and Jesus the Son and the God the Father are one, the kingdom is God's. Don't lose sight of what scripture is saying here, before this point God allowed man to set up kingdoms and rule. Man tried to rule other men, animals, and physical earth itself. However all these attempts failed in one way or another. At this point and on God has taken back this control. But since Jesus was victor in the battle of will, this passage was written to give that glory to Jesus. |

8316 | GOD CAST SATAN FROM HEAVEN? | Rev 12:4 | EdB | 95137
laststep Rev 12 gives this picture. Many believe the first part of Rev 12:1-6 is a picture of time past. And Rev 12:7-17 a picture of time future. In any case Rev 12:4 is believed to symbolize Satan taking one third of the angels with him and Rev 12:9 shows Satan himself being thrown to earth. EdB |

8317 | GOD CAST SATAN FROM HEAVEN? | Rev 12:4 | EdB | 95273
Greetings laststep and welcome to the forum, The bible does not specifically say when this event happened. There is a theory called the 'gap theory' that it occurs between Gen 1:1 and 1:2. In verse 1 it states that God created the heavens and the earth. In verse 2 it says that the earth was without form and void. Form comes from the Hebrew word "tohu" which means 'From an unused root meaning to lie waste; a desolation (of surface), that is, desert; figuratively a worthless thing; adverbially in vain: - confusion, empty place, without form, nothing, (thing of) nought, vain, vanity, waste, wilderness'. Void is the Hebrew word which means 'From an unused root (meaning to be empty); a vacuity, that is, (superficially) an undistinguishable ruin: - emptiness, void. Since we know that God does not create anything that is not perfect there must of been a space of time inbetween the 2 verses where the earth went from perfect to chaos. According to the Gap theory it is believed that: 1) a pre-Adamic race existed 2) Lucifer and his angels may have ruled over the nations 3) that it was at this time that Lucifer was thrown out of heaven. Hope this helps. prayon (definitions from Strongs Concordance) I posted this to you so you would be sure to see it. Notice also the word THEORY. That is exactly what it is a theory not FACT. There is no conclusinve evidence that establishes this THEORY as FACT EdB |

8318 | GOD CAST SATAN FROM HEAVEN? | Rev 12:4 | EdB | 95274
Prayon You posted your response to me and since most people don't read the forum except what has been directly psoted to them I copied and posted your response to Laststep. I also added the disclaimer that this was just a theory and not fact. That there was no conclusive evidence within the Bible to establish this theory as fact. I hop eyou don't mind me making that clear to Laststep. Be Blessed EdB |

8319 | GOD CAST SATAN FROM HEAVEN? | Rev 12:4 | EdB | 95284
Norrie Good article and while I don't agree with or like the Gap theory this web site is just another opinion it provides no real proof against the Gap theory. However that said let me once again say the gap theory is totally man made and is just a theory based on conjecture and birthed in the interpretation and translation of certain Hebrew and Greek terms without any real and solid proof. Should the gap theory be proven in eternity to be correct it does not render the Biblical account of creation wrong. Personally I will take the Biblical account neither added to or subtracted from for I know that account will endure for all eternity. I have always wondered if dinasuare bones weren't an invention of Satan to cause man to question God's description of creation. One thing we know NASA proved the moon didn't have as much dust on it as they said it would if it was as old as they thought. On the Lunar lander they constructed it with very large landing pads so as not to sink into the many feet of dust they calculated would be there. However when they landed they found only a few inches of dust. When measured and recalculated it has been determined that this was about 6,000 years of dust. No one talks about this, but I remember being taught in school the need for the large landing pads and the funny wheels on the lunar rover. EdB |
