821 | How can we know the saints are only Jews | Dan 7:25 | CDBJ | 70553
Hello Chusarcik, Just to make it easer, the word Saint in the Old Testament comes to us from the Hebrew word, qadowsh, kaw-doshe'; or qadosh, kaw-doshe'; from Hebrew 6942 (qadash); sacred (ceremonial or moral); (as noun) God (by eminence), an angel, a saint, a sanctuary :- holy (One), saint. In the New Testament the word Saint comes to us from the Koine Greek and was, hagios, hag'-ee-os; from hagos (an awful thing) [compare Greek 53 (hagnos), Hebrew 2282 (chag)]; sacred (physical pure, moral blameless or religious, ceremony consecrated) :- (most) holy (one, thing), saint. It is basically those set aside who have believed in Jesus as the Son of God. |

The tithing that is spoken of in the Old Testament is actually a federal tax that was to be paid by all, believers and unbelievers alike. This was how the nation of Israel was to subsist. The offering was over and above this. A lot of people get this all twisted around and would like to think that this should all be given to the church. We all have to pay taxes and our next obligation is to our family. There will be those who would argue this point with me but I would suggest that they take it up with the lord not me. 1 Tim. 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. Giving shouldn’t be a problem that troubles ones mind it should be one of the easiest things that we do as believers. 2 Cor. 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. The word NECESSITY, comes to us from the Koine Greek word ANAGKE and it means, constraint (literal or figurative); by implication distress , distress, must needs, (of) necessity (sary), needeth, needful. Modern English would say if you are stressed out and have to stew over your giving that the Lord isn’t pleased with this, as the verse has indicated. If it is the Lord’s work and desire, He is able to support it and He doesn’t need our help; He just allows us to participate and derive the blessing from the function as being a part of the work. If it isn’t the Lords work and He doesn’t want it to succeed no amount of money or support on out behalf will help! I hope that I haven’t confused the issue? I am just saying this because a lot of the times people actually give more then they in their circumstances can afford and as a result their family suffers immensely; with this the Lord is not pleased. There are a lot of people that have been turned off to Christianity because of a dumb parent that made them suffer through their childhood so that they could give money to a begging institution that was way off base on giving and tithing. Yours in the Lord, CDBJ |

823 | Amplified a version or a something else? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 68170
The Amplified Bible is a version of the Bible as are all translations that we use. It is very helpful in that it expounds on words that suffer from anachronism and as words change from one translation to another they lose their intended meaning. A good example would be the word pisteuo in the Greek. Most versions of the Bible use the English word believe, but that one word in the English doesn’t even come close to what the full meaning of the word pisteuo in the Koine Greek meant. The Amplified Bible actually amplifies the English to the meaning of the original language, and most of the time it can’t be done with one word. It is a very helpful study aid for one who wants a deeper understanding yet doesn’t have the time to delve into Hebrew and Greek of the original manuscripts. |

824 | Why does Abram call Lot brother | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 68168
The word brother is from the Hebrew word ACH, and a better translation would be kindred or those of the same ilk. I am a brother to all that are members of Christ family even though one might be my nephew. Genesis 13:8 (NLT) Then Abram talked it over with Lot. "This arguing between our herdsmen has got to stop," he said. "After all, we are close relatives! When quoting 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: One must remember that the many different translations that we have, although they are very good yet they are not inspired, or God breathed, as was that of the original languages. I hope this helps, CDBJ |

825 | What's sky rolling up like scroll mean? | Revelation | CDBJ | 65615
Greetings Chusarcik, I think that the answer to your question, Revelation 6:14 says "The sky receeded like a scroll rolling up...", is found in the verses before and after Rev. 6:14. It would appear that there is a supernatural darkness around the earth that came about as a result of Rev. 6:12-13 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; [13] And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. The word earthquake could also be translated super volcano, which we know puts out a huge amount of ash that could cause the condition mentioned. In order for verses 15 through 17 to take place God will perform something spectacular so that all will be looking up when He returns. All of the obstruction that has been blocking out the light from the sun moon and stars will be removed suddenly and low and behold there will be the Almighty sitting on His throne. There will no doubt in any ones mind what is going to happen next because that is expressed in Rev. 6:16-17 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: [17] For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? Rev. 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. |

826 | Inability to believe | John 5:24 | CDBJ | 63475
I would like to examine the first part of your question. (How is it possible that a loving and just God, could eternally condemn unbelievers to eternal torment, for their inability to believe the gospel message and respond in faith?) A loving God has made provision so that they won’t have to experience eternal torment; he just doesn’t force people to accept it. Is the captain of a ship at fault if he finds someone afloat in the middle of the ocean in a floundering boat and they refuse his help? Is a fireman at fault if someone refuses to follow him out of a burning building by stiff-arming him and telling him to leave them alone. I don’t see where love is the point of contention in these situations. Do you blame the man who planted the vineyard for not being kind to those that mistreated and killed his son? He made provision for them and they refused what he provided. Matthew 21:33-41 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: [34] And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. [35] And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. [36] Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. [37] But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. [38] But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. [39] And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. [40] When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? [41] They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. The Holiness of God is made up of his rightness and justice. What the rightness of God demands the justice of God executes. It is impossible for God to maintain his Holiness without executing his judgment or justice on those that refuse his grace gift of salvation that came to us through his Son Jesus. |

827 | I won"t be saved if I don't tithe | 2 Corinthians | CDBJ | 63324
Since you are of the opinion that (If your wages are cut and you can't make ends meet does that mean I am cheating God and I wont' be saved?) Show me if you will please, using the Bible, that you can be saved by not cheating God? If this were the case Jesus came to earth and died on your behalf for nothing. All one would have had to do is pay for their salvation lets say 11 percent, that ought to really cinch it and leave one with some extra money on credit just for safety sake. I hope you realize the folly in your question? I am just trying to point you in the right direction. Do yourself a real favor and read the book of John and ask the Lord to show you the truth that it holds. If at that time you don’t understand what it is saying about salvation read it again. |

828 | Paul or All? | 2 Cor 5:20 | CDBJ | 62982
The way I see it is for all that are new creatures in Christ. When looked at from it’s context it is speaking about those in verse 17. 2 Cor. 5:17-20 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. [18] And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; [19] To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. [20] Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. Verse 17 says any man, then verse 18 picks it up with Paul’s inclusion of himself by saying, who hath reconciled us. Verse 19 further includes all in the world that are reconciled, knowing that their sins are not imputed to them, therefore that group is given the word of reconciliation. As a result all that are reconciled are ambassadors for Christ. i.e. we who are saved are to present the message of Jesus to the world. That’s the way I see it, CDBJ |

829 | Jesus know all things why marvelled? | NT general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 62976
I think that the problem that you having with this Verse, Matt. 8:10, is your understanding of the word marvelled. It is a little misleading if one thinks that it means surprised. Matthew 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. The word marveled comes to us from the Greek word THAUMAZO. It can also be translated to have in admiration or admired. |

830 | needed surgery verses elective | NT general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 62896
I don’t know how many feel about this but I can tell you from the way I see it. There is a verse that says that we are ambassadors for Christ. 2 Cor. 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. I think that as ambassadors we should be the best looking, happiest most outgoing, group on the planet. The way we look and act sometimes speaks so loud that people can’t hear what we are trying to tell them. You know the old saying the first impression is the one that counts the most. People have to win the opportunity to talk to someone about Christ. We have to make people want what we have and they are more apt to listen to someone who looks like a winner not a loser. Some think that in order to be spiritual that they must walk around with a hangdog expression of their face and not show any self-respect. They dress sloppy and shuffle there feet to try and look humble and sloppy then they tell people that they are Christians. The most beautiful one in the whole universe is our precious Lord Jesus and he says that we are his ambassadors. Now you make up your own mind. There is a verse that applies to all that we do. Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. I hope this helps, CDBJ |

831 | Please read the 8th verse as well. | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 62689
It is my firm belief that the one spoken of in II Thess. 2:7 is Michael the angel who is referred to as the protector of God’s children. Daniel 12:1-4 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. [2] And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. [3] And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. [4] But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. The return of the Lord will stop the heinous workings of antichrist against God’s children and those that endure through all of this will be caught up to be with the Lord. 2 Thes. 2:8-9 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: [9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, Christ spoke of this same period of time. Matthew 24:15-22 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) [16] Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: [17] Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: [18] Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. [19] And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! [20] But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: [21] For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. [22] And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Paul also gives reference of this deceiver. 2 Thes. 2:3-5 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; [4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. [5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? There are those that would deceive us by saying that we will never see these things but Paul warns of just the opposite. 832 | Basis for the doctrine of purgatory | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 62036
Hi Felice, and welcome to the forum, I will keep my answer short about the doctrine of purgatory. It is something that was trumped up and there is no mention of it in the Bible whatsoever, but it sure was a great way to fleece a lot of ignorant people out of their money. Needless to say there aren’t any verses that I can give you to support the fallacy. I hope this information doesn’t interrupt any of your hopes! If it is hope that you are looking for from the Bible I can point you to a lot of verses and you can trust that the answers are from God’s Word and hold Him to it. Here is one just for starters, the Bible says that we can know that we have eternal life in heaven before we die and be absolutely sure, is that great news or what. CDBJ |

Hello Aspilos, As for heaven I don’t think it is any more or any less then the abode of God or God’s realm of concentrated existence. The location where Jesus is seated on a throne next to the Father’s right side; or the nucleus of God’s domain. |

835 | tribulation is the holy spirit removed | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 61264
Hi Susan, and welcome to the forum. The answer to your question is none of the above. One who is omnipresent, God, can never be eliminated from any particular place or space at any time. Just the nature of your question should cause a concern by the use of the word removed, as though someone higher up was going to do the removing, as though He couldn’t perform the act by Himself if indeed that were the case which it isn’t. |

836 | What animals are okay to eat? | Mark 7:15 | CDBJ | 61162
One is not under the law of the Old Testament if they put their trust in the finished work of Jesus and what He did for them on the cross. 1 Tim. 4:1-6 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; [2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; [3] Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. [4] For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: [5] For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. [6] If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. |

837 | Which church did Jesus build? | Matt 16:18 | CDBJ | 61161
Hello Derden, the church that you are referring to isn’t an organization but is an organism. All those that God the Father has revealed the person of the His Son to are members of that church when they put their undivided faith and trust in Jesus. Matthew 16:13-18 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? [14] And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. [15] He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? [16] And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. [17] And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. [18] And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. |

838 | follow-up on the signs | Matt 24:29 | CDBJ | 60841
Technically speaking the great tribulation mentioned by Jesus in Matt. will last less then three an a half years. Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. The total seven years referred to as Jacobs trouble starts with Israel making a covenant with the one we call the antichrist, Dan. 9:27. This is the beginning of sorrow for the first part or 3 ½ years. Matthew 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. The great tribulation doesn’t start until the one that Israel makes the covenant with actually reveals who he is; this doesn’t happen until after three and a half years into the covenant. Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 2 Thes. 2:3-9 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; [4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. [5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? [6] And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. [7] For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. [8] And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: [9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, This is the beginning of the great tribulation and it is cut short by the Lord for the elect’s sake. Matthew 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. You can see that the great tribulation is cut short for the elect’s sake yet the time of Israel’s trouble will continue until they full period of 7 years is finished. This is also referred to as the time of vengeance or wrath. Rev. 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. The short time mentioned in Rev. 12:12 is 3 ½ years or the last half of the seven years. |

He is God who is all present and that means everywhere; it is one of His attributes i.e. omnipresent. If you are thinking of the verse in II Thes. 2:7 I think that the answer to this is found in Daniel. 2 Thes. 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. Read Daniel 9:26 through 10:21 and 12:1 where I think you will see the answer to 2 Thes.2:7 as to who is taken out of the way. |

840 | Should we bias our religious studies? | Lev 18:22 | CDBJ | 60665
What you are saying might hold true with other studies but when it comes to the study of the Bible there is a different concept that the Bible conveys. The problem being that seeing, is not believing, but believing, which is PISTIS or faith in the original Greek, is seeing. It is impossible to know the real truth that the the Bible teaches with out faith! The Bible is a supernatural book, that the natural man can’t understand. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Christianity per se, is not a religion but a relationship. Religion is man by man's best efforts trying to gain the approbation of God. Christianity on the other hand is God doing all the work and man can only receive what God has done for him as a gift; it is non meritorious, we can’t work for it and we sure don’t deserve it, but God demands that we believe it or He will not reveal the truth that is contained within His precious word, namely the facts about his Son. Matthew 16:16-17 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. [17] And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Sad to say not all are in the family of God, one must be born into God’s family before they can perceive God’s kingdom. Once a person becomes a child of God the Bible literally comes alive with meaning and understanding. This is not my personal opinion but has been my personal experience alone with thousands of others. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. I hope this helps, CDBJ |
