83 | DEPRESSION AND CHURCH ATTENDANCE | Bible general Archive 3 | humbledbyhisgrace | 182685
I did look into purchasing one recently for a sister in Christ who wanted a study bible. I opted for a different one only because I couldn't find anywhere local to check it out. Sort of what your going through now :-) It is a different method of study based on what I read. I think I might like to have one also to complement the others I have. Sooner or later I probably will :-) Here is a link to Amazon.com and the NISB. It will allow you to take a glimpse of the NISB and the layout. Maybe this will be helpful. http://www.amazon.com/New-Inductive-Study-Bible/dp/0736900160 By Faith Sister!, Steve |

Greetings Brother! I highly recommend the ESV Reformation Study Bible. I got one for Christmas from my wife this year. I LOVE IT! It's put together well and get this, whoooo hooooooo it's got the word of God in it. I had to add that :-) The only complaint I have is the small type. I'm approaching that age where I find myself struggling to focus on the small type. It's not too bad yet but I can tell it's coming :-( I don't know if they make one with the large print or not. I never found one. Praise God for the Audio Bible, preachers and teachers! Steve |

86 | Saints | Bible general Archive 3 | humbledbyhisgrace | 182956
Greetings srjosepena and welcome to the Study Bible Forum! Of course it's okay to believe in saints as long as it is based on biblical truth. The most recent one that I'm aware of is a young boy about 9 years old that joined the ranks of the saints just this past Sunday. Praise God! I'm sure he is not the most recent though as the Lord God is drawing his saints to Him daily! According to the scriptures, all believers are saints. "The word saint comes from the Greek word "hagios" which means “consecrated to God, holy, sacred, pious." It is almost always used in the plural, “saints.” "…Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints at Jerusalem" (Acts 9:13). "Now as Peter was traveling through all those regions, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda" (Acts 9:32). "And this is just what I did in Jerusalem; not only did I lock up many of the saints in prisons … “(Acts 26:10). There is only one instance of the singular use and that is "Greet every saint in Christ Jesus…" (Philippians 4:21). In Scripture there are 67 uses of the plural “saints” compared to only one use of the singular word “saint.” Even in that one instance, a plurality of saints is in view “…every saint…” (Philippians 4:21)." - Taken from www.gotquestions.org. 87 | Abiding in Christ | Bible general Archive 3 | humbledbyhisgrace | 183411
Greetings Brother! My understanding is it is essential that we abide in Him! In so doing the Father is glorified and our joy will be made full! We will experience spiritual growth! When we do not we are fruitless and can do nothing! We are to submit to Him as Lord and truly become His disciple! John 15:1-11 Our walk should be as His walk (Complete obedience!) doing all that has been commanded of us! (1 John 2:6, John 6:38, Philippians 2:8, John 8:29,28, John 5:30, John 4:34, John 12:49, John 14:31 to list a few!) I would agree with Murray in regards to the great loss. Consider the contrast of abiding in Him and not. John 15:6-7 6"If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. 7"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." I think Murray’s point regarding the loss sums it up well. Help us and teach us to abide in you Lord! Amen! By Faith, Steve |

89 | reason for long quote in Jas 2:18? | Bible general Archive 3 | humbledbyhisgrace | 184199
Greetings number7! Here is one thought on this from the Bible Knowledge Commentary "2:18. This may be one of the most misunderstood sections of the entire epistle. But someone will say, You have faith; I have deeds. An imaginary respondent, “someone,” was introduced. He did not object to James’ conclusion. He agreed that faith without works is dead. But he wrongly disparaged faith while stressing works (see comments on v. 19). What follows, Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do, may be the continuation of the respondent’s words. If so, they should be included within quotation marks. (If this were James’ response to a contender’s “I have deeds,” James would have written, “Show me your deeds without faith.”) Though recent translations do not include the second half of verse 18 in the quotation of the respondent (e.g., neb, niv, rsv), the nasb correctly considers this entire verse part of his remarks. The Greek, of course, does not include quotation marks, which accounts for the variations in English. It seems, however, that the respondent is throwing down the challenge, “Show me your faith apart from (choris, ‘without’) works, and I will show you my faith by (ek, ‘emerging from’) my works” (author’s trans.). —Bible Knowledge Commentary" God Bless and may the Lord God bless you in your studies! I pray He will use you to reach many for His glory!, Steve |

Greetings Mr. Agee! Do you have something to offer the forum? Just so you know, most of us on the forum believe in the bible. As a matter of fact, most of us are here to study the bible, share it with others, and discuss the different questions people have regarding scripture. If you have something to offer regarding scripture or a question about scripture please share it with us. Someone will more then likely have an answer or response to your post. However, if I may be so bold to say, we are not interested in your web site nor your book so please stick with scripture on the forum. God Bless, Steve |

91 | They are married,is it sin to have oral? | Bible general Archive 3 | humbledbyhisgrace | 185164
Greetings Brother! John, consider 1 Corinthians 7:3-5. The affection in verse 3 and the depriving in verse 5 and the warning to come together so Satan does not tempt is not speaking to procreation. 1 Corinthians 7:3-5 (NKJV) 7:3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. 7:4 The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. 7:5 Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. Also, consider the following scriptures Genesis 2:23-24 (NKJV) 23 And Adam said: "This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man." 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Matthew 19:3-6 (NKJV) 3 The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?" 4 And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,' 5 and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? 6 So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate." 1 Corinthians 6:15-19 (NKJV) 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For "the two," He says, "shall become one flesh." 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? Ephesians 5:25-33 (NKJV) 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 "For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband. There is a coming together of the husband and wife with no intent or thought of procreation. Granted, procreation is a big part of God's intent of the marriage but there is more to it then that. The two become one and it is God’s intent that it remain that way (Matthew 19:6). There is a unity of the two and it is likened to the relationship of Christ and His Church (Ephesians5:25-33). So there is more to it the procreation and sex. You sort of left your teaching on the two points below just hanging and I believe this is why Jeff felt the need to redirect so that any reading along do not walk away with the wrong impressions. " In no way is sex in the marriage bed sin. " "But God, after all, invented sex for one reason; procreation." By Faith, Steve |
