82 | Speaking in tongues? Use by women? | Gal 3:28 | farout | 37739
I just spent one hour typing an answer and it went blank. IT MAY HAVE BEEN A BETTER ANSWER. i AM DETERMINED TO AT LEAST GIVE YOU AN ANSWER. Please read Gal 3:28 and Gal 5:6. If you follow my febal minds thoughts, it goes like this. ALL humans of both genders are equal in GODS EYES. God is perfect. us men are arrogant and for a large part think women are less than us. Christ broke this thinking. You may welll be a better closer form of Gods personality. Life giver, nuturer, more patient, well dont get a big head, but get the idea, I hope. Women were the main supporters of Paul! read ACTS and just follow how women kept him going! Tongues has been an issue for thousand of years. I have quietly had GOD SPEAK A STRONG ERGERNT WARNING TO ME. mANY YEARS AGO.I have seen tongues in one church service that was done according to scripture. There was no doubt it was real. This gift is used to will the lost! This is not a gift to ask for, or its not a gift is it? Have you ever seen anyone asked for the gifts of helps, service, giving, oand th list goes on. Why so many waqnt the least desireable gift is clear. THIS GIFT IS A SIGN AND WONDER GIFT WHICH jESUS SAID SIGNS AND WONDERS ARE WHAT THE POPLE |

83 | What is the Omega generation? | Deut 28:1 | farout | 35115
Thess. 4:3 is where it means the gracious design rather than determined resolve. If you have the LORDS clear direction to start a web-based ministry how would it be any different than the hundreds of web-based ministries now? I would not suggest a person apply for a life gaurd position if the fact was they did not know how to swim. To encourage you fellow pilgram, a web-based prayer request ministry is desperatly needed! This will cost you spritual energy, time, and money to keep it running. But real down to earth reaching out to hurting members of the family of God who need prayer is an area I think you could do and not take a lot of knowledge. Please let me know what you do.
84 | Are Christmas and Easter pagan in origin | Gal 4:10 | farout | 35109
Quite recently I think I heard that the Jewish people at the time of Christ's birth used the aproximant conception date for celebration of their birthday. (not unique to just Jew's) So based on that December might well have been when the Holy Spirit implanted Jesus in Mary's womb. What do you think? Who knows for sure, well Mary does and we will know when we leave this tempoary place to our real home ! RIGHT?
85 | Chivalry supported by the Bible? | 1 Tim 5:3 | farout | 35106
John 14, 15, 21, 15:10 are all about AGAPO the characteristic word of Christianity. John 17:26 convey to us how we are to treat one toward another. If this is not what you are asking please give your idea of what chivalry is and maybe we might get a better understanding of what you are seeking.
86 | Confess or ask forgivness of our sins? | Not Specified | farout | 35102
My Pastor taught in the morning service that as Belivers we are told to "confess our sins not to ask for forgiveness." Something in my spiritual heart remembered that in the Lords example prayer, Jesus said " forgive us our debts (sins) as we forgive those who have trepessed (sinned) against us." I looked in VINES EXPOSITORY DICTONARY OF THE NEW TESTAMENT ant the word Jesus for FORGIVE (APHIEMI)is a verb and means " the remission of punishment due to sinful conduct". Matt.6:12. The word in 1 John 1:9 is not the same. I am sure our Father sees the intent and not the exact words, because for more than 56 years of my life I have sought forgivness of my sins. I wonder if confession and asking forgivness is not a process? One must admit to something to seek forgivness is what I have assumes all my Born again days. AMY COMMENTS?

89 | Feeling overwhelmed and need direction. | NT general Archive 1 | farout | 30504
Dear Overwhelmed: Some one has said "The renewal of the inner person becoming Christ like is not accomplished in a moment, but a lifetime!" This is such a key point in Christian growth. May I share my personal experence. I believe that one makes the choice to make Christ LORD or boss if you will. This is not a thought process alone but a matter of the heart and mind choosing to follow Jesus and communicating with Jesus by prayer. For me prayer has been a supreme act of faith, as many times feelings have nothing to do with how our prayers are answered. So prayer, and a guided Bible study course for new Christians is a must, and belonging to a body of believers are all esential. If you do not have a daily feeding of your spiritual food(prayer and Bible study) your growth will be stunted. Many people start out with the excitement you have, but do not grow and remain a carnal baby Christian. Ask your pastor for some materials for new Christians, if you don't have a Bible, get a New American Standard Bible or a New International Version Bible. May I suggest you start with St. John. Read a Chapter at least once a day. I hope this helps. The walk of faith in Christ is by no means an easy walk. Satan will try everything to discourage you as long as you live. So my friend and fellow pilgram fight a good fight and become as close to Jesus as you possibly can. Never give in or up to the world, you belong to the King of Kings and LORD of lords. Bless you my friend. |

90 | The Forum -- Your Opinion? | Romans | farout | 30502
Hank and others: Romans 14:1-10, are verses that I find seem to fit in to many catagorys. This Forum allows the exchange of convictions, that I call the exchange of dialogue between the weak amd strong in faith. For some it a chance to say why they believe certian ways about issues that may be different than I believe. Romans 14:5-8 permit us to view some days Holy and to eat or restrain from eating. I believe that to have the privledge to share our thoughtsand views on the Christian life and our theology is a spiritual time to check out what others think and weigh their thoughts against Holy Scripture, and see if my ideas are perhaps incomplete. I would refer this forum to anyone, who is a seeker of Yehweh our LORD. I have been blessed to haved attended Grand Canyon University, Midwestern Baptist Seminary, And have two Masters from Central Baptist Theological Seminary, and attend a few classes at Trinity Theological Seminary. I say this in the most needy way I can, I am just a novice learning to trust in Jesus. I can say all the knowlege a person may have does make him or her a spritual person. "The renewal of inner person becoming Christlike is not accomplished in a moment, but a lifetime!" author unknown. I pray that when I ask aquestion or answer one that the Holy Spirit guides me. The reliability of this forum is something we all must decide with how the answer line up with scripture. as to the time on the forum being well spent that is a personal matter, only each of us can tell that. For me I am spirred to growth in this forum as a perticipant. To Jesus Christ and His Glory, 9farout). |

91 | Role of fasting in a Christian's walk? | Neh 1:4 | farout | 24890
This is an excellant question, one which I think the real answer just does not jump out at you from any one verse. However, Matthew 17:21 has the key to fastings purpose. I believe thet you will see pure fasting is when one has all their attention devoted to a piticular prayer request, and their attention is so focused that eating would be a distraction. The attitude of completly praying woth no interference is very difficult for me, and perhaps for most, I think. Please check this out as this only my thoughts, I believe fasting is always accompanied with prayer. Jesus said that the religous leaders fasted so others could see their "suffering for GOD" , which was not at all what our Father desires. Ever notice that many fasting people have to tell others they are fasting? Scripture says not to let it show on our faces that we are fasting. I personally do not fast not only for medical reasons, but perhaps my spiritual growth or learning has not gotten to that point. I believe fasting allows for drinking of water and juice or tea, coffee. Friend, perhaps more than "fasting" I find to develope a prayer relationship with the Father, a very awesome and at times difficult "act of faith". Prayer does not come automatic to me. I have to be settled down, and confess my sins, then I give adoration to my Father, the thanksgiving, and suplications(meaning prayer requests. So I use CATS for my personal prayer life. Be strong in the LORD friend, and faithfull in prayer. I hope my sharing helps in some small way. from farout@onemain.com |

94 | "Once Saved Always Saved" | NT general Archive 1 | farout | 8193
Friend in Christ: I wonder sometimes if the question is worded wrong. If the question is how little faith will get me to heaven that is a very serious flaw. There is faith, and Saving Faith. Faith that falters had a flaw from the begining. I spend little effort trying to convience someone they are saved. I say do you want to make sure and live that comittment to Christ from now on? John 10:10 assures no one (not even you) can remove yourself from the seal that Christ has put on you with the Holy Spirit that resides in you from the moment you are born again. Repentance is proof positive that Christ has become you LORD! Paul says don't look back, press on, keep on trusting! Faith and being saved is a continueous action, not just a prayer repeated and that is your ticket to heaven. I hope this helps you. I have resteled with this for many years and pray this stimulates you to grow in prayer, and reading God's Word.
95 | Strategic Spiritual Warfare anyone? | Dan 10:13 | farout | 5220
"The primce of Persia, refers to a demon who was exercesing influence over the Persian realm in the interets of Satan His resistance was finally over cone by the archangel Michael." NASB Study Bible 1999, Zondervan Publishing Hours, Grand Rapids, Michagain. The fact is we are all under some sort of Spiritual warefare. Satan is not present in all places, at all times. However his demonds are many and do his bidding. To pray the protection of Jesus Christ and the Blood he shed for us is a prayer we can seek Gods protection. I would add sometimes I feel we give Satan credit when it is our own sinfull ways that get us in to sin. I would add NO WHERE IN SCRIPTURE does it say we are to communicate with Satin! To say Satan we bind you in the name of Jesus is not scriptual anywhere. That would mean we have talked to the Evil one. As far as I can tell, we are to communicate with Jesus alone. There is one medeator between God and man and that is Christ Jesus. Remember He that is in you is greater than he that is in the world. I have been to Boliva twice, and Mexico sever times and all the missonaries have ample evidence that GOD has sent protection for then at times that they were not aware of. And some were very aware of the presence of the proction that was there. In Psalms many many time the writer crys out for Gods protection as he was very aware of that his life was being threatened. The BIBLE is so wonderfully filled to the history that God never fails us. His unfailing love, and steadfastness is with us always! Remember Jesus said I will NEVER LEAVE OR FORSAKE YOU! Even in the Valley of death Juses' Holy Spirit is with us always! Take rest and trust in words of Jesus. |

96 | What is the best version of the Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | farout | 5219
The answer has a lot do with your educational level and how much Bible study you have done. Your understanding of how Scripture came about have a lot to do with selecting a BIBLE. All Bibles are translated for a grade level of reading. KJV is grade 12 to 14. NIV is 6th to 8th NASB is 8 to 10th. This is my opinion only. Also the translators Theology and understanding of interperation is a huge factor. RSV, and NRSV are neo-orthodox, liberal translation usually associated with the vied that there may be errors that do noteffect the central message of the BIBLE. The NIV translated thought per thought as accuratly as possible and is very good. The NASB is a literal word for word and their conviction is every word is God Breathed and as penned in the orignal is perfect and without any errors. NIV believes the same as well.I personally use both the NIV and updated NASB STUDY BIBLES by Zondervan Publishers. Most of my Seminary Proffessors used either RSV, or the NIV., and a few the NASB. All these have the plan of salvation and their differences are generally noticed by Bible students that have struggled in word study, so as to be able to defend theeir belief in what version they perfere. I would encourage you to go to a knowledgable Book store keeper who will take the time and help you see the differences for yourself. Perhaps you Pastor od go to a Near by Seminary and talk with aa OT or NT proffessor. Just afoot bobded leather wares our fast. Genuine leather lasts decades, and is well worth the extra money your investing |

98 | Are Christmas and Easter pagan in origin | Gal 4:10 | farout | 4798
I know that the church has joined in the pagan ways of celebrating the Birth of Christ. For one thing Christ's birth was most likely not in December. Most sad of all the sadness of gifts being almost seventy percent OF MOST BUSINESS yearly gross. How many of us spend our budget into a tail spin just to please our children, parents, and employers? I can't understand why we don't kick Santa out and call it what it is Christ's birth celebrated. Think on this, satan/santa, same letters put in a different order. Think there might be a connection?
99 | Are Christmas and Easter pagan in origin | Gal 4:10 | farout | 4797
I believe resurection Sunday should be called just that. Eastar was apagan fertility goddes and has no buisness being used inthe Chrch whatso ever. I find callingit easter so offencive that Iwill not attend an "easter service." we have once again let worldy ways inject the church wit a mixture of truth and error.
