81 | is mindreading demonic? | Bible general Archive 3 | Tim3:16 | 169765
The Bible strongly condemns the practice of spiritism, mediums, occult, psychics, etc. (Leviticus 20:27; Deuteronomy 18:10-13). Besides, there is just too much fault found too easily in what you say she said. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Tim |

82 | Where to live durring posttribulation? | Rev 3:10 | Tim3:16 | 169762
Hi fox21, The safest place I know of to spend this time is with Jesus, that is where I hope to be during the tribulation. I will state my reasons why here. Since the word rapture is not found in any translations that I know of, it can be an extremely controversial subject. I try to keep an open mind on the subject. My primary passage concerning the timing of the Rapture is Revelation 3:10. This is where Christ promises to deliver believers from the “hour of trial” that is going to come upon the earth. To me, this either means that Christ will protect believers in the midst of the trials, or that He will deliver believers out of the trials. Christ is promising to keep believers from not the trial, but the hour, or span of time that contains the trials, or the onset of trials, or wrath as some say, namely the Tribulation. The purpose of the Tribulation, the purpose of the Rapture, the meaning of 1 Thessalonians 5:9, and the interpretation of Revelation 3:10 all are supportive of the Pretribulational position. If you have found some convincing evidence of post-tribulation rapture, I invite you to attempt to convince me. God's Blessings to you and yours, Tim |

83 | Is the Raptur a real event? | John 14:3 | Tim3:16 | 169752
Hi Edwin, Does it actually say that every eye will see the thief? I believe this is an allegory for an unexpected event. As to Him who cometh with clouds, Hebrews 12 makes mention of the great cloud of witnesses as it refers to the Old Testament saints. The church I attend teaches that the rapture will happen before the Great Tribulation. It is separate and distinct from the rapture of the church. The rapture is the time when Jesus will be coming for His church. At His second coming, He will be coming with His church. I myself will wait in anticipation of what our Lord has in mind for His saints, and I prefer not to convince myself of a particular event on which the Scriptures are unclear. God's Blessings to you and yours, Tim |

84 | rapture unseen, 2nd advent seen by all | John 14:3 | Tim3:16 | 169751
rs8795, I am not convinced that the thief in the night is the rapture, for there are no biblical passages to say it is. The day of the Lord could possibly be misunderstood as the rapture, but rapture is not mentioned in any translationthat I know of. 2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; There are two passages that speak of the White Horse in the Book of Revelation, but they are not clear enough to say that this happens on the Lord's Day, either. Rev 6:2, KJV, And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. Rev 19:11, KJV, And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. If I have misunderstood your question, I apologize, please clarify it for me. God's Blessings to you, Tim |

85 | Is saying you are a god unforgiveable? | Matt 12:32 | Tim3:16 | 169749
Inkpanther, To claim we are gods is not an unforgivable sin. It is as simple as not interpreting Scripture correctly by jumping to self-drawn conclusions. Our flesh would like to think of ourselves as gods so some people try to make verses fit their fleshly desires, which is the same desire that struck Eve as she was partaking of the forbidden fruit. As you know, we are not gods. We are not omnipresent, omnipotent, or omniscient. Upon becoming born again, the Holy Spirit reveals false doctrines to God's children by giving them discernment. This is why you got an upset stomach by the post on the message board as you stated. Jhn 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (KJV) I feel sorry for TV preachers, for they will be judged at a higher standard than those who do not know better. This is why we need to study, as we are instructed in 2Ti 2:15, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (KJV) Also, Webster's dictionary shows the difference between God with an upper-case 'G' and god with a small 'g' God's blessings to you, Tim |

86 | Study members bored with Bible geneology | 2 Tim 3:16 | Tim3:16 | 169430
One very good reason for studying the geneologies is to ascertain the chronological order of biblical history. Another is to prove the blood line of the promised Messiah. Notice that after the birth of our Savior, there is no longer a reason to record geneology. God Bless, Tim |

89 | Who are the Nicolaitanes in Revelations | Rev 2:6 | Tim3:16 | 169381
According to one gifted preacher I know of, the root words Nico means priest in Greek, and the word lait had to do with the laity, or common man. His conclusion was that in Revelations where Christ speaks of the things which he hates, He is talking about churches that exalt priests in a postion higher than the people, enabling them to lord their authority over the people. The Bible states that all believers are priests, as well as saints. God bless, and bless God. Tim |

90 | is there 2 translation of matt 6:12? | Matt 6:12 | Tim3:16 | 169379
Hi Bernadette Macy, Welcome to the Forum. I would like to say that there are many, numerous translations of the entire Bible, but I am unable to find one that says forgive us our trespasses, evn though I do remember reciting the prayer that way in my childhood as a Catholic schoolboy. But I looked in my St. Joseph's Catholic Edition and that version says 'debts' as well. It may help to explain the same as I did to my father-in-law when he a scoffer, and said that one Bible says one thing and another Bible says another. Well, I told him that a trespass is the same as a debt, because you did not pay rent to the owner of the property. It goes actually much deeper than that, but I hope it helps. Here are some other translations and what they say, KJV, NKJV, ESV, NASB, NIV: Forgive us our debts, The Message: Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others. NLV(New Life Version) , NIRV (New International Reader's Version), NLT(New Living Translation): and forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. CEV, (Contemporary English Version) Forgive us for doing wrong, as we forgive others. WE (Worldwide English), Forgive us for the wrong things we have done, the way we forgive those who have done wrong things to us. |

91 | how do u find ur true spiritaul gift. | Eph 4:16 | Tim3:16 | 169377
Hello God's Favorite, Welcome to the Forum. As to your question on spiritual gifts, It is Bill Gothard who suggests that individuals react to given situations in the light of their gifts. If a waitress spills someone’s meal all over the restaurant floor and a group of Christians are sitting nearby, each individual will react in accordance with this spiritual gift. The gift of mercy responds by concentrating on cleaning up the mess, the gift of giving offers to pay for another meal, the gift of exhortation seeks to cheer up the waitress. The gift of administration delegates and organizes the whole matter to avoid confusion. The gift of teaching suggests some ways to avoid a recurrence of the problem. Your spiritual gift makes you sensitive to certain needs that others may not perceive. Do what you see needs to be done.Spiritual gifts are not given to benefit any individual, but for the benefit of the entire body. Anyone who seeks a spiritual gift and uses it in order to give themselves advantage in any situation, or to seek a kind of spiritual ‘high’ is missing the whole point of spiritual gifts. In obedience to the Scriptures, do the things which need to be done. It is almost impossible for one with the gift of teaching not to show his hand at a discussion-type Bible study. There is no way you can keep a gifted teacher quiet. If one senses a need to teach, and, if given the chance, the need is filled by sharing what the gifted knows to be God’s answer. The one with the gift of giving is the one who is most sensitive to financial needs. The same is true of the administrator. He will sense the lack of organization and immediately move in to meet that need. Bill Gothard suggests that individuals react to given situations in the light of their gifts. If a waitress spills someone’s meal all over the restaurant floor and a group of Christians are sitting nearby, each individual will react in accordance with this spiritual gift. Your spiritual gift makes you sensitive to certain needs that others may not perceive. Do what you see needs to be done. When you once begin to meet the needs which you see you will quickly discover that you enjoy some things better than others. Most often, the things that you enjoy are the ones that you are good at, or possess a natural talent for. The fact that you do not do something very well is no indication that you are to cease in that area. Pay attention to your own evaluations and the suggestions of others. This will lead to the development of the gifts which you possess. Whatever opportunities come up which will aid you in enhancing your spiritual gifts, make the most of them. Spiritual gifts are no mystery. You can know your gift; it helps to know your gift to be a faithful steward. Yet there is a great variety and diversity between gifts, and also between individuals who possess the same gift. Don’t make the mistake of measuring yourself with the superstars of spiritual gifts. And don’t confuse spirituality with the greatness of your gift (or the lack of it). If you would discover your gift, simply obey the Scriptures by doing the things which you see need to be done, and devote yourself to what you and others agree you do best. All of God’s gifts are gifts of grace in that we do not earn them; they are given in spite of us, rather than because of us. 92 | can i love my cousin for more | 1 Cor 13:4 | Tim3:16 | 169375
Hi flipflop1431, Welcome to the forum. Your question shows that you want to hold your decisions in your personal life up to the light of God's Word, and that is the wise thing to do. But, this is a complicated question, and the English language is at a disadvantage in the word 'LOVE' because in the Greek there are more than 5 words to describe this feeling. PHILIA, is primarily a love of things, such as a bibliophile is a lover of books, or a philosopher is a lover of knowledge. STORGI, defines the love a mother has for a child. This is so intense that in the animal kingdom, a mother will fight to the death to protect her young. KARIS is the root word for our word 'charity' which is love for others and expresses itself in acts of giving, usually to those less fortunate EROS is the sexual desire that is referred to as erotic love, it has to do with emotional satisfaction for one's self. This love is short-lived and vanishes upon satisfaction, remaining dormant until desire strikes again. AGAPE can be described as loving our fellow man simply because he is a child of God. This love is different because it needs no merit. Physical attraction is unnecessary, neeed not be related as in the case of motherly love, needs not to be appealling emotionally, intellectually as in Philia, nor is it necessary to be inferior to us as in charity. To be worthy of AGAPE, we must merely exist. The most homely person with no personality gets the same attention as the king and queen of the prom. This is the foundation of christian living. As Apostle John writes, 'God is Love' Apostle Peter said to love each other above all And Apostle Paul describes the supremecy of love in 1Cor 13:1-3, and gives a vivid description of love in verses 4-7. As to answering your question, love covers a multitude of sin, but will this relationship cause you to be in sin? The first consideration would be for both of you to honor your Father and Mother. This means getting their opinion first. The next obvious direction would be to remember to not commit adultery, which is physical relations outside of marriage. So, your question leads to this, Would it be ok to marry your cousin? I believe some states allow it and some do not, so keep on praying and seeking God's will in this matter and stay pure until you get a more definitive answer. In His most precious Love, Tim |

93 | Is saying "God bless you" wrong? | Matt 10:13 | Tim3:16 | 169348

94 | who was naborth in th bible | Gen 11:25 | Tim3:16 | 169347
Sorry, sheryl4christ ! The word naborth doesn't occur in the KJV. The closest I could find, is Nahor. Gen 11 starts out the account of Nahor, which means "snorting" in Hebrew. Nahor was the name of both the grandfather and a brother of Abraham in the Old Testament. Gen 11:22 Serug lived thirty years, and begot Nahor. 23 After he begot Nahor, Serug lived two hundred years, and begot sons and daughters. 24 Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begot Terah. 25 After he begot Terah, Nahor lived one hundred and nineteen years, and begot sons and daughters. Hope this helps, God Bless your search. Tim |

95 | Is Satan expelled from heaven ? | Is 14:1 | Tim3:16 | 168655
Thanks again, BradK, Yes. very helpful insight on your part. Your profile was interestingly similar to my history. I left the Catholic Church, stayed away from religion for years, then found a church that taught Relation, not Religion. This was more palatable than man-made doctrines. Now I attend a local Calvary Chapel, which I hear are very big on the West Coast. God Bless you Brother, and thanx again! Tim |

96 | Is Satan expelled from heaven ? | Is 14:1 | Tim3:16 | 168653
Thanks BradK, Your answer was well done and answered me well. My girlfriend and I were having a studious discussion about the whereabouts of our adversary. She said that many preachers have told her that satan was indeed expelled from heaven already. I remarked that it will be one angry beast on his way to earth, and this is likely the point in time when the rapture is to take place. Would you be in agreement with me on this? Thanks for your response, may God Bless you and yours. Tim |

100 | intelligent design or darwin? | Eph 6:12 | Tim3:16 | 164438
One reason, is due to activist judges, who mis-interpret the constitution and make laws from the bench of the supreme court, instead of passing it through congress the way the law is supposed to be made. as a result, there are actually teachers saying that the phrase, "wall of seperation between church and state" is in the Constitution, when actually it was in a letter from Thomas Jefferson. And, it was in defense of the free exercise of religion, -not prohibiting it. Another reason, and likely connected to those judges, is the verse above, and it is, the prince of this world, our enemy satan. There recently was a public school in northern Wisconsin that I heard of that was going to be succesful in offering a class on creationism, or intelligent design as an alternative theory to evolution. It was after several failed attemts by other schools around the nation, but I do not know how it turned out. For your information, I have included the following from Liberty Council, who gives free legal advise and court appearances in order to defend our rights as Christians in this country: "Teachers have a lot more liberty than you think to teach creation and to teach religious and Christian influences.
