82 | What is the people sin? | NT general Archive 1 | One | 67376
Dear confused I don’t know if you are still reading but let me offer you a new perspective. You asked, “Why did God create us in a cruel world with the chance of being lost?” Now I hope you are sincere in asking this and not just out to have Christians question their faith. For now I will see this as a honest question. I work all day with people trading stocks and the biggest problem I have with answering questions is people ask all the wrong questions. The other day someone called in and said, “What are you people doing to my account, do you know how much money I have lost.” The answer here, what ever it would be, would be wrong to the client because they were unwilling to take any responsibility for there choices. Did you ask to be created, no? Nor did your parents ask you to bring you into the world where you are destine to someday die, yet do you blame them in any way? To me as a Christian is not why God would do such a terrible thing, but why would God love us so much after we have done so much against Him. Now to try and answer the question why would God create something that He would know could or would become evil. I feel this can be answered by the passage that says God is Love. Corinthians chapter 13 gives us the greatest definition of Love ever. Please read this passage below and ask your self a question: If God did not give us the option to love Him would He truly be a loving GOD? 1 Cor 13:4 ff Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. To me when I see this passage I see I God who says, “I love you please love me back.” Now we have all chose at some point to not love God and to love other things more and that is called sin. We are all guilty of Spiritual adultery. Is God responsible for our shortcomings? No, because we have made our choice. Now lets look at our definition of Love again. Love does not take into account a wrong suffered, Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. You see God still believes great things about us despite our shortcomings. He has not held our sin against us, endured our unfaithfulness, and boar the responsibility for our sins on the cross even though it was not His responsibility. So instead of asking, How could God do such a horrible thing to me, you might want to ask how could God love me so much? I hope this brings you some peace |

83 | What does the bible say about equality o | Rom 6:23 | One | 67303
A sin is a sin is not found in the Bible. I think this comes from "The wages of sin is death." Therefore some would say all sin has the same consequences. I don’t know if I agree with that consider the following passages. Luke 20:47 who devour widows' houses, and for appearance's sake offer long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation." Luke 12:47 ff "And that slave who knew his master's will and did not get ready or act in accord with his will, will receive many lashes, but the one who did not know it, and committed deeds worthy of a flogging, will receive but few. John 19:11 Jesus answered, "You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin." |

85 | Only 144,000 to asend to heaven? | Rev 7:9 | One | 67296
Last in I looked God throne was still in heaven. It sounds to me you have been speaking to a certain religious group, who I will not mention. However I will say this teaching is back wards the multitude is in heaven and the 144,000 as you can see is on the earth. This passage is highly figurative and highly figurative passages should be left as figurative and not literal!
86 | Teacher, when were the 11 rebaptized? | Romans | One | 67264
Ok we agree to disagree I wil note you said, "Scripture consistently calls for us to make a volitional response to His offer of salvation, but nothing more. To me Baptism is included in the volitional response. PS Im glad you have like some of my other posts Peace to you my Brother |

87 | Why are we Fake sometimes? | Luke 9:23 | One | 67234
Once I had this question posed to me at a youth rally, "Why is it so hard to be a Christian." I asked, "Whats hard give me an example." One of the kids procedeed to tell me of how his friend pressured him to take a drink and smoke and said it was hard to be a christian. My reply when like this, "Which was it harder to do: To find an adult to by you cigaretts and beer. Then to hide it from anyone from seeing what your doing. Then to go out and get mouthwash and breath mints to cover up the smell. To lie to your parents about what you were doing and why you smell the way you do. Or would it be easer to say, "No" and walk away. You see sometimes we think being a Christian is so hard because we forget that sin has its complications too. |

88 | Take Up Our Cross: What does it mean? | Luke 9:23 | One | 67233
Yes we must be willing to bear up under trials and temptations but keep in mind temptation is not from God. As James says, "Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone..." James 1:13 Again to me our cross to bear is somthing we choose to do as a work for Christ. It is a choice we make daily. To me each Christian should pray "God reveal to me how I can surve you. If I am blessed in what I do then let me be blessed to your glory and if I am to be crushed then let me be crushed to your glory." I love the question to where is God. In an indirect way I think the woman at the well asked this question. Basicaly she said you Jews worship in Jerusalem, we worship on this mountain, where is the correct place? The question is much deeper as they believe, in acient times, God's spirit dwelled in the temple. So in an indirect wat she was asking, "Where is God?" Then you have to love Jesus answer John 4:23 "But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. In other words you don't have to look for God, God is looking for you. |

89 | Take Up Our Cross: What does it mean? | Luke 9:23 | One | 67227
I once new a lady who one had a disability and she said, “This is my cross to bear.” Let me say I do agree with that type of statement. Look at the passage. Matt 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. A few notes about this passage: 1. The cross we are to bear is one we “take up.” Therefore it is not one that is thrust on us such as an illness, disability, trial etc. 2. Denying self is apart of the process. So again the before mentioned conditions do not apply. I believe this refers to our service to God. I love golf but I got to Church on Sunday instead of golfing. My daughter and I go to the hospitals to visit sick children to read to them, again this is a choice we make rather than doing other things that maybe more fun, but in the grand scheme of things less fulfilling. I hope this helps! |

90 | Teacher, when were the 11 rebaptized? | Romans | One | 67217
Brother this is exactly how I see baptism. There is nothing magical in the water. It is not because we are so good in obeying. Just as the grace of God spared the physical life of Naaman God has spared our spiritual life. Just as dipping seven times in the murky Jordan did not earn the right to be healed baptism does not earn us our salvation. Now you may sill disagree with me on baptism but at least you can understand why I feel baptism is not a work of our own. |

92 | Teacher, when were the 11 rebaptized? | Romans | One | 67207

93 | Teacher, when were the 11 rebaptized? | Romans | One | 67197
Maybe the explanation I gave before is a bit simplistic so allow me to further elaborate. The context is speaking of the flood of Noah and a comparison is made. God saved Noah by water as God saves us through baptism. Is baptism a work? Look at how many years Noah labored but does God say of him? Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. Further more I could give you some high theological wrangling about how it saves us but I would be giving an opinion. It really doesn’t matter the fact is God said it and that is it. If we believe it or not it does change what is said. If it agrees with our theological view or not it does change what has been said. |

Yes, I understand work in that context means more of figure out for your self. Tim judging from you profile I am sure you are familiar with the story of Naaman. If I may ask a question was his life spared due to works or the grace of GOD? 2 Kin 5:14 So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child and he was clean. |

Yes, I am sorry I work trading stocks and things here can get busy and I didn’t proof that well enough. My point was you accused teacher of leaning on the teaching of men, and all he has done was quote scriptures. Does not the Bible say work out your own salvation with fear and trembling? Yet, through out these post you and other have quoted men saying “Well I know what this passage says but what it means is this.” To me this is looking to men more than what teacher is doing.

Please also note Peter is so clear we need the help of men to missunder stand him. 1 Pet 3:21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, |

100 | Teacher, when were the 11 rebaptized? | Romans | One | 66971
If I may say a few things, if we really want good translations of the Greek lets look at the Greek culture its self. If we look at Greece to thins are not an issue in the Greek Church: 1. Baptism for the remission of sins. 2. Total immersion. As to Cornelius conversion this was a special event. How do I know this? Look at this passage Acts 11:15 "And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning. Peter here is defending him preaching to the gentiles. Note what he says the spirit fell on them just as he did on them in the beginning. He did say just as he does when someone believes. Peter here has to go all the way back to Pentecost to show a like experience. We should also understand that there are different levels of receiving the spirit. Balam’s donkey had the spirit come on it to speak but to date no one have ever tried to tell me this donkey was saved. Remember to Jesus said the Spirit would come into the world to convict men of sin. What happened at Pentecost scripture says “And they were cut to the heart.” Here we have the Sprit working in men’s heart and they are not saved. In fact it is the Spirit working in the heart of man to change them. Some people accept the spirits work some reject it. As to the whole “baptism” issue I think when we try to say here is the moment someone is saved they can stop and so can we Is a totally foreign idea to the New Testament church. To me some passage speak of confessing, with out a word of repentance or baptism because they viewed the whole thing as the same event. We can twist Act 2:38 around and we are still left with 1 Peter 3:21. Also look to at the stories of the Bible. The Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8:27 and ask yourself a question when did he go away happy and when was Philip taken away, after baptism. When did the Jailer rejoice after baptism. Therefore baptism was apart of the whole flow of the process and to exclude it is the result of theologians thinking too much. Now you might say baptism is a work and works does not save us. At this point people try a pit Paul and James against one another and this would be a contradiction if they were speaking of the same type of works. If we look at Romans Paul is speaking of works of “the Law”, while James speaks of works of faith. I might also there is one work none of us cannot be saved with out and that’s God’s work and that’s what baptism is. Col 2:12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. |
