81 | One God, One Jesus Christ | 1 Cor 8:5 | Country Girl | 130272
So cutting to the bottom line: Do you actively and sincerely confess that Jesus IS indeed the only living and begotten Son of God Almighty, the one and only Savior of the World. Jesus Christ is the one single way we (you and the rest of the world) can be assured of going to Heaven. Without this confirmation or confession on your part, you're going to keep on running into a lot of flak and bad or negative response to your posts here on the Forum. We really CANNOT apologize for taking that stand as it's very clearly announced up front to ALL participants before registering to join the Forum. We do hope and pray that you can confess His Name as Lord and Master. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

82 | Church of Crist, good or bad? | NT general Archive 1 | Country Girl | 130271
The Church of Christ is just one of many names listed in the NT, referring to the Bride of Christ, His Body here on earth. Other names provided are Church of God, Church of the Firstborn. There are a few others. One such verse is Rom 16:16 Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you. The Forum really shouldn't be used to spread gossip. Specifically, what do you wish to know? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

83 | Did i say you should call me GOD?' | Deut 17:15 | Country Girl | 130216
If you're having doubts about God and His Word, our Bible, I can only suggest your checking into the website of Dr. Bert Thompson. The website is www.apologeticspress.org. He is a christian first and foremost but he's also a scientist and puts out a wealth of information about evidences in favor of christianity. I'm afraid I would have to side with the others on the Forum. I would have grave concerns about turning away from christianity in favor of any other religion. I think Peter sums this up quite well in 2 Pet 2:22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: "A dog returns to his own vomit," and, "a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire." I do hope you'll pray and study long and hard before making such an important decision for the rest of your eternity. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

84 | w/o the Law would man be concious of sin | Rom 3:20 | Country Girl | 130208
I'm no expert in this matter but we do know that mankind lived for a long time without a specific code of written law from God or anyone else for quite some time, at least from Adam to Noah's time. God felt they had violated His laws sufficiently enough that the "whole world was thinking of evil continuously" and destroyed that world with the flood. Apparently, our conscience has some basic rudamentary principles of right and wrong by which people will be judged IF they know absolutely nothing about the Bible, God or Jesus. Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law will also perish without law, and as many as have sinned in the law will be judged by the law Blessings to you. Country Girl |

85 | my6 son dont wont to take care of his cm | NT general Archive 1 | Country Girl | 130203
I think verse 8 is what you're looking for. 1 Tim 5:3 Honor widows who are widows indeed; 1 Tim 5:4 but if any widow has children or grandchildren, they must first learn to practice piety in regard to their own family and to make some return to their parents; for this is acceptable in the sight of God. 1 Tim 5:5 Now she who is a widow indeed and who has been left alone, has fixed her hope on God and continues in entreaties and prayers night and day. 1 Tim 5:6 But she who gives herself to wanton pleasure is dead even while she lives. 1 Tim 5:7 Prescribe these things as well, so that they may be above reproach. 1 Tim 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. 86 | How old was Paul when he got converted? | NT general Archive 1 | Country Girl | 130200
I'm afraid the NT doesn't reveal that much information about Paul but we can be assured he was at least 30 since he was a good, faithful Jew and would have waited til this age to start a life-long obsession of persecuting christians. From the amount power and persuasiveness of his personality, we could guess he was probably at least 5 to 10 years old than that at the time of his coversion, but that's strictly a guess. Anyone else? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

88 | Importance of Inerrancy | Gal 3:16 | Country Girl | 130195
So do we not have Hebrew scholars on the Forum who could confirm for us that was exactly that to which God was referring when he made that promise and prophecy to Abraham. I'd like to think so. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

Good point. I've never thought about this question to quite this depth. I'll have to study on this a while longer. Blessings to you all. Country Girl |

90 | Why did God send Jacob's Family to Egypt | OT general | Country Girl | 130150
The best answer I can come up with is the traditional: this is the perfect antitype showcasing the similarity to God's rescuing the world both in their dispensation with His sending Moses and His Sacrifice of His Son for the whole world for all time. Notice the similarities: We (both mankind and Israelites) went into this condition willingly and flourished. We both gripe and grumble about the conditions therein. We both want and need a rescuer but don't really know it. We both want to be rescued on our terms, in accordance with our wishes. A price had to be paid in blood; there is a ritual celebrating the shedding of that blood. The journey to get to the ultimate destination is long and tedious, frought with perils and battles along the way. There are many, many who don't make it; as a matter of fact, only two made it into the Promised Land, reminding us of the Straight and Narrow Way to Heaven. Moses negotiated at the Mountain for his people just like Christ is doing for all of us now as our advocate. Moses issued God's Decrees and Laws just like Christ has done for us through His Apostles. In both cases, most of them are really for our own good and to improve our lifestyle here on earth. Moses delegated to his brother Aaron just like Jesus did to His beloved Apostles. I'm sure I must be missing some other similarities but you get my point. So much of the OT points toward the NT so that we see God's intention all along. Rom 15:3 For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, "The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me." 4For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. 5Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, Blessings to you. 91 | Reading Harry Potter | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 130056
Although I quote the following as a reminder Phil 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Phil 4:9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. I must admit, I too have led a life of reading and watching some questionable material. So I guess we could all confess to one another we could all strive to improve how well we comply with God's instructions in this regard. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

92 | does the Bible address things breaking | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 130022
There are only a few verses in the Bible that indicate God's actual physical manipulation and superceding natural laws of nature (without a person involved) like the Burning Bush appearing to Moses. Another incident in this category is the splitting of the thick, heavy curtain separating the Holy of Holies from the rest of the temple. This curtain was very, very thick, something like a foot or more but it was torn completely like a piece of paper from top to bottom immediately at the very second of the Christ's death on the cross. Unless I'm badly mistaken, which is quite possible, all the other miracles of Bible here on earth were performed by God but they involved the prescence of another being, human or angel. I really don't think there's any cause for alarm in your case, as there is probably some natural explanation for these events. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

94 | Keys to Spiritual Maturity | Phil 2:5 | Country Girl | 130006
I think this same attitude of Jesus was further demonstrated in His washing of His disciples' feet. He EVEN washed the feet of the one who betrayed Him. What a God; what a Man. Awesome God and He chose to die for you and me. Yes, indeed we got some "growing down" to do to come close to our full potential as christians, don't we? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

95 | Rule or Ideal? | 1 Tim 3:2 | Country Girl | 130001
It's been my experience here in America that we're seeing less and less christian men who qualify for this office. Of course, one of the most important qualifications is the desire for that office. As the ideal conditions encouraging the growth of Christianity continue to deteriate, I think it's important all the more to stick to the pattern that God has set out for us to follow. His commands, both by imperative statements and by the examples as demonstrated by NT christians paint a picture of Perfect Success in the first century. There in the first century, they had every imaginable kind of sin, especially as displayed in the Books of I and II Corinthians. So we would be well advised if we want to ensure the church as intact, living and viable through the next generation, we need to resolve to teach our kids and our grandkids an awesome level respect for God's Word. We CANNOT possibly exceed or even come close to the level of Perfection we see in our NT Bible but we need to give it our best shot. I would suggest we just stick to the simple qualifications for church leadership as cited in the NT. That's the safest and most logical way to be certain we're true to God. Adding or attempts to improve will just get us into trouble, as afterwards who gets to say when we stop. It's a long and slippery slope you're suggesting, one with very, very dangerous consequences. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

96 | What is it about these two natures? | Gal 5:17 | Country Girl | 129996
We also see this battle depicted rather clearly within the life of the Apostle Paul in Romans 7. Thus as we grow more and more mature, our spiritual nature hopefully wins more and more of these battles over that of our physical, human nature. Then we can truly KNOW that we are spiritually mature as John described in 1 John 5. In my lifetime, I've known some wonderful christian couples who counseled us and were such a wonderful example of a loving Christ-like leadership. They were about as near perfect a representative here on earth as I could imagine. We do have so much to be thankful for as Americans. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

97 | Fruit vs. Works: the same or different? | Gal 5:22 | Country Girl | 129995
Thanks for pointing out my errors. I'm glad you understood the gist of my post. Yes, indeed Christ and His Father are the only sources for any and all good things in this life and in the next. In the final analysis, I see both our fruits of the Spirit and the works we attempt to accomplish in "the name of the Lord" all just boil down to being evidence of the Holy Spirit that lives within us. IF we see no such fruits or any such works going on in the life of a christian then we should approach that brother/sister and be kind and gentle but try to find out why they're not producing fruit and/or works for their Lord and Master. Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. 2 Timothy 2:24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, We must remember imitating Christ should be reflected as a whole lifestyle. If we couldn't be arrested in an anti-Christian country for the lifestyle we're living here at home, how can we expect God to let us into Heaven? If our lives are NOT proclaiming the name of Christ here on earth, why should His Father proclaim our name at the entrance of His Home for us? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

99 | Fruit vs. Works: the same or different? | Gal 5:22 | Country Girl | 129936
I do see some close correlation between fruits of the Spirit, fruit of our vine being connected to the Branch of our Lord and the works or acts of Christianity as discussed in James 2. It seems from the verses as given in the Bible that the fruits are reflective of our spiritual personality. We see some christians who are more talented in showing their fruits than others. Thus, some are better at showing patience or others may find it easier to be loving or kind. Some of these fruits are also inter-related but we should strive to add them all to our spiritual person and upon adding them, strive to improve them and grow in our spiritual relationship with our Lord. This results in a better, well armed christian to ward off sin in our life. Now as to works or acts of Christianity, the fruits of the spirit help support those works. When we're truly kind and loving to our fellow man, then we can show those acts of kindness with genuineness and Agape type love. The wonderful thing about working in the Lord's vineyard in this way has a receprical return as the Lord told us it would. Acts of Christianity has a way of spreading the love and enthusiasm in His Name, all to His Glory. We experenice growth both spiritually and numerically. We see our fellow christians round about us grow and mature in their relationship. They help us grow as we help them. We talk about our weaknesses and exchange them for each other's strengths. Thus the body of our Lord grows all the more. So you see, all of this is very closely intertwined as it should be. But I would also add that our Lord does expect to see some of the evidence of Christianity both in our lives now and on Judgment Day after living a faithful live. Rev 2:10. Blessings to you. I'm not really sure after reading your post but I'd like to think you're NOT saying that animals have the very same kind of soul and thus the same image of God that was installed in man. Please confirm. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
