83 | Church membership...a requirement? | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 209420
Dear Azure: I like what C.S. Lewis Says about "camping in the hallway" it gives a picture that it would be good to remain there and perhaps even fun for others who may be looking for a Church home. So, if we are not in a Church, we should at least make it known that this is not a comfortable place to be. Here where I live in the woods, we sometimes have problems with what we call squatters, and the authorities have to move them along after they have been camping too long. Sometimes, camping can sure look like we are setting up residency. :-) By the way I've recently added to my library, a copy of [9Marks of a Healthy Church] and it's sequel [The Deliberate Church] Also by Dr Mark Dever. A must read for any Pastor, Elder, or Deacon who is new to or is building a Church. And Highly recommended for anyone who just wants to know what a healthy Church aught to look like. :-) God bless John |

Hi Jack; Welcome to the forum! First of all, a true Prophet has to be correct 100 percent of the time of they are NOT a prophet but just a good guesser. And 2'd of all) How did this Kim C get it right and what was so right about what he got? You know there is a good chance he just guessed! Pay attention to what he says and see if he is right all the time. I think it was In 2001 Ken Copland said that 2002 would be the greatest year the Church has had in the history of America. Gee, I don't remember anything special about that year do you? But his followers still believe he is a prophet! Go figure huh? Keep your eyes open my friend. :-) God bless John |

Sister Azure, we know that our Father keeps books, Phil 4:3, Rev 20:12, so perhaps He has others too, in a place where time is NOT limited. :-) "Indeed, true companion, I ask you also to help these women who have shared my struggle in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life." Phil 4:3 Shalom and God bless John |

Amen Doc, I wholeheartedly agree, it can get really divisive when we start to go down that road. We have enough trouble here at SBF with Scripture alone! God bless John |

88 | Are old words proper for Scripture? | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 210631
Hey Edude, Welcome: You have an interesting way of putting things, it sounds as if it may even be profund, but, I'm afraid I'm a bit lost too. :-) I've been reading along and, You asked the question: "Is God glorified with words of praise which are contrary to our Lord's style?" Well, I cant really say, sir, it's a little difficult to tell what you mean by, "our Lord's style?" Can you please enlighten us just a little bit on, what is, "our Lord's style"? And may we please see the Scriptures that would bolster the notion that, he has some sort of, Style, whatever that may be? John |

95 | does satan know what is said in tongues | Bible general Archive 4 | stjohn | 210676
Dear Correy, (I hope you don't mind the nickname) :-) you wrote: "I doubt that satan himself spends much time following just ANY Christian around;" (sic) Scripture has something entirely different to say about that. "Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." 1 Pet 5:8 Speculation and opinion don't carry much weight around here, though these things are present, and not inherently wrong, we do require however, that someone be able to back up their opinion with Scripture. Please review the TOU (Terms Of Use) before you post. This is a sola Scripture Bible study forum not an opinion speculation forum. Thank you and welcome. God bless John |

Dear corrected, aah corrective, sorry... :-) Big fry? Little fry? Sorry my friend, I have no idea what you are talking about. "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit." 1 Cor 12:13 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Gal 3:28 And if I may add my two widows mites. There is neither big fry nor small fry. stjohn 1:1 |

Newwine, I'm sure Azure will get back to you if she wishes, but if I may say, there is nothing inherently wrong with speculation as long as it follows a biblically based foundation, and is given as such e.g. your example would probably be alright. And of course as long as there is nothing objectionable or that goes against the Terms of Use as set forth by our gracious host, The Lockman Foundation. Of course we need to be as objectively biblical as we can to ensure we don't stray from sound orthodoxy. Just remember this is a Bible study not a opinion/speculation study, nor a chat-room. I hope this helps. :-) Shalom John |
