81 | Did Adam and Eve have a daughter? | Genesis | justme | 238705
Robert: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. I think you make a point that some would agree with depending upon their view of Scripture. My view of creation is one of being very literal, and I believe Cain and Able were Adam and Eve's first children. We do not know how old Cain and Able were when the murder took place. Surely Adam and Eve had to have many other children before Able was killed. Those other children must have had families of their own, and it is very possible that there were several generations of relatives from Adam and Eve by the time Cain was removed. When Moses wrote Genesis (I don't accept the JEPD theory) not every detail is recorded as you suggest and for many they might not be aware of that. Filling in the gaps of history is very interesting to me. Ofteen we hear or read of different discoveries being made even today that over and over contribute to the accuracy of Scripture. It is an exciting time in which we live to see the Bible come alive. Blessings and Merry Christmas Robert. justme |

Cwinn: I would guess by your mentioning the New World Translation that you are a JW? The NWT is a intentional misinterpretation of Scripture. The deliberate mistranslation of John chapter one is a huge example of the JW's making Jesus Christ less that The LORD's one and only Divine SON. The New World Translation has no place being used on the Study Bible Forum. and that's my opinion. |

edb: I totally agree, how cna this be done? On the state or fedral level? Unless people know the right way to go about this time could be wasted. I think with the gay marriage laws now pretty much allowed by the IRS perhaps this might be easier to do than once thought before. Where do you think the next step is? Are you willing to help start tis up in some way? Awareness is the key to start any movement. How serious are you about this? justme |

edb: All of the things you mention are true. But in reality this becomes a situation ethics sort of thing. My wife and I have talked about this at length, and we have said the no matter what to follow Christ is by far most important. If the choices are clear and plane than the solution is clear, to not live together, and be best friends. Many women and men have the beliefe that one wife or husband is enough and to remarry is not an option. If God Word says that take care of us I believe it. I can tell you and others as well, that raising a large family is nor easy, it takes faith, and we do walk by faith. So if a couple who are in the situations you tell of and they believe God wants then in marriage they must rely on the fact He will provide, and if the don't believe so, do not get married. That's not heartless, it's Biblical. justme |

Doc: I am so proud of Lockman for allowing us to have this safe place to post reminders of special days like Veterans Day. I also thank those who keep the SBF on track to keep a goal of a forum that does not get into an Ann Alander sort of thing. I belong to one that there is little control and things are expressed often with no real Biblical foundation. What a special place SBF is. Thanks Lockman. justme |

87 | are there apostles and prophets today | NT general | justme | 238261
Doc: Suffering is what Jesus endured for us, but I feel sure we have no idea what Jesus took upon Himself for us. I believe the physical pain he endured. The unbelievable pain of carring the weight of our sins, we can't grasp at all. We can't imagine what the pain of sins of the whole WORLD, what would that felt like, or to die with? Even the fact that it was impossible for God to turn away from His son, Jesus's pain surely felt like it. How can we more fully grasp what the pain and cost of our sins really took for Christ to prove how much Jesus Christ loves us. Each of us are the "one lost sheep" Jesus has gone after. One at a time Jesus has sought and went looking for each of us, one at a time. So awesome and most likely we can not even grasp His love. I can'treally grasp what real LOVE is. Do we really suffer? I think not, ONLY JESUS KNOWS WHAT IT IS TO REALLY SUFFER. Blessings. |

Doc: We are in total agreement. Respect for Elders and yes, professors, which I considered a honnor to be under their teaching. A true Elder person in the Lord Jesus Christ is getting to be seldom found in todays culture. Getting to know youuand seeing how yo communicate and instruct the way of the LORD is a special blessing as well. Our dear brother Hank was indeed an Elder. Blessings to you Doc. |

Hellow again brtother. I guess by your post you are a non-denominational church member. Recently in a different christian forum this subject went on for a very long time. It turned out there were some very strong false statements made about denominations. Granted there are some denominations you could hardly call religious say nothing about christian. But there are some non-denominations that are equally as bad. Unity is one such church group that comes to mind. So it would be nice not to toss darts at denominations, I happen to belong to a Southern Baptist Church which supports the Southern Baptist Denomination. I have also belonged to the Conserative Baptist as well.By the same token there are some solid Independant, non denomination churches as well one being Calvary Chapel which we went to for several years. The more important issue being how are we sharing Christ and are we descipling those who have made a choice to follow Jesus. Blessings. justme |

I am not sure I agree with your answere of "no". I have in my past helped in rescue mission's, preaching and counseling with those who were hooked on alcohol and drugs, and sexual addictions, I never saw one just suddenly stop. They do have relapses and there are genuine hearts of repentance. Physically addiction's are very difficult to brake. How do we explain 1 John 1:8,9,10 "If we say we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His Word is not in us." We all have the sin of omission, and comission. I am a sinner! I do not believe anyone is without sin until we are with the LORD. To say we can not sin after surrendering to Jesus Christ changes salvation to that of "works" not "Grace" In 1 Corinthians 5:1-13 Paul is dealing with immorality in the church of a man. In 2 Corinthians 2: 1-10 Then Pauls to forgive and to allow his return to the Body after his repentance. Finally 1John 2:1 "My little children, I am writting these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteousness." Look over these verses, pray about it and read more in His Word about it and let's dialogue later, Blessings. justme |

Fmp: Glad you took the time to respond. As I write this we have snow falling with thunder and lightening. We love this show it;s so awesome and powerful. We need the rain and snow so badly. So many crops were lost last year. God has blessed us, thank the Lord. The lady with cancer is or was in the hands of the Lord. I did my part as instructed in Scripture. However, if there was no hope of heaven for her, unless she was immersed in baptism, should I have said that there was no hope at all for her? Mark 10:26-27 "They were even more astonished and said to Him "Then who can be saved?". 27. "Looking at them Jesus said, "With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God." NASB No one an be saved on their own efforts, only by the Grace of God cab anyone be saved. As I understand Scripture that even our faith needed to respond and submit to the Holy Spirit's plea for us to surrender and become a follower of Jesus Christ is all a gift of the Holy Father. I would say if a person does not "follow" Jesus and His commands then that person is not a christian. For instance, if a person says they are a christian, but hates church, then not only is he not following Jesus, he contradicts Scripture. Hebrews 10:25 In sich a case I would think this person had a false faith. Falling form Grace and loosing one's salvation id where we see things differently. I am a Once saved, a born again, geuine christian is secure in in the salvation of Jesus Christ saving ability and guarantee that we are His. John 10:28-29. Just as you are able to use Scripture to show how you arrive at a person Lost position in Christ, and there is merit with that. I also can show from Scripture once genuinely saved you are secure. So because we both are christians there is no reason to disfellowship one another. There are some area's that Ther is no room to compomise. Praying to any other than person than the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit in not Christian. Praying to a Saint or the mother of Jesus is unscriptural. This is an area I can not agree to disagree. How are we tracking up to this point? Blessings justme |

fpm: Thanks for your kind response. I know our Doctrine is not what we have made up ourself. Yes I believe I have that down pat. I respect your position on baptism, and debating is not braking any thing I am aware of, especially if genuine christian brotherly or sisterely love, kindness, and respect are used in the debate. But honestly not all Baptist are of a Faith only Doctrine, as I am concerned. So I think my intention is not to disfellowship or belittle someone when we don't agree, in that case I believe Jesus said all there cam be said with wisdom we need to keep in the front of our soul. John 14:35 "By this all men will know you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." NASB In all honesty when a so self poclaimed "christian" refuses to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in baptism there is a serious error. When we surrender to Jesus Christ and call of the Holy Spirit, there are expectations. No one can follow unless they stay in line and FOLLOW. In this case with baptism as Jesus Christ clearly demonstrated for us as an example to FOLLOW HIM. When someone refuses to be baptized that's not following in any way shape or form. I fully believe immersion to be the Biblical way to baptize. I say this even having sprinkled a woman dying of cancer who was unable to move for death was quite near. I have mixed feelings in explaining this, and I have to leave this in the hands of the Lord. When I hear an alter call with the preacher asking those who raised their hand to just repeat after them the sinners prayer, I am very concerned that this is a false way to allow people to think that's all there is to "getting saved". As you say in your doctrine statement, repentance is a requirement not an option. yet seldome do I hear that mentioned in alter calls. Most assuredly without confession, that is denial. Baptism can be one way of confession. Obedience is one area that is not just for the time we surrender to Christ. For me it is being constantly aware that obedience is sometimes satans trap when we deal with situations where emotions can be high and trying to help is not the way the Lord wants me to be. Endurance is sometimes a way of saying that genuinely saved persons could loose their security of the holding power of Christ. John 10:27-29. I have read "that faith that falters, had a flaw from the first". For me I would say the key word is "genuine". I do not believe a "genuine authentic" "born again" "saved" person can or will fall from grace. I do believe it is possible for a believer to "backslide". In the Old Testament such an example would be King David. There are several things about David and his realationship with YAHWEH I do not understand. If God could say David was a man after Gods heart, I struggle to fully grasp such forgiveness and loving kindness that God has. I think there is plenty of room to dialogue, disagree, and learn from one another in the Study Bible Foum. Blessings. justme |

Fmp: I read your profile, with a unexpected great list of your Doctrine. That is not usual for being on the SBF less than one month, thank you. Congratulations on being a great grandpa. That's something that aging allows us to see how our family tree grows. I am sure you have thought about this and have an answer, but just for the sake of my knowing how your Doctrin handles a specific issue. No arguement is intended this is just for me to think about. You say Baptism is required for the remission of sins. Unless I don't understand you correctly, Baptism is required to be "saved". Have I got that right? Would there be exceptions to this requriement? For example, a person dying of cancer in a hospital. A pastor visits the person and they talk several different times. After some deep talks about Jesus Christ and her need for Jesus Christ, she repents prays and surrenders to Christ Jesus. Due to her very serious condition, near death, she wants to be baptized. There is no way to baptize her. was she saved? Just to give you the "rest of the story". I told her I would do a symbolic baptism and sprinkled her. She was so instant on wanting to be baptized, and there was no way to take her anywhere, so I sprinkled her. Being a Baptist this is not accepted, so I did what I could. Then the final question there are those like the thief on the cross, that because of their last few moments surrendering to Christ, no time was there to baptized the person. Such places like war, accidents that take a person to the ER and there is no hope and confession is almost the very last thing they do. How does all this fit into your doctrine. Be assured no matter if I do not agree I will respect your doctrine and treat you like the Brother in Christ that you are. justme |

G. Preston. The Book you called "Revelations" is spelled Revelation, no "s". This is a mistake that is sometimes enough to fail a New Testament class in Bible College. My alerting you is not meant in a negative way. The opposite thing happens with the Book of Psalms, people sometimes forget there needs to be an "s" at the end. By the way after a good amount of time I am still studying the word "book of Life". I never thought it would be so interesting. Hopefully within this month I will have an answer. justme |
