81 | Heresy Hunting or Biblical Mandate? | Matt 24:11 | Asis | 87024
I am not saying that we are not to teach the truth or to allow error to go unchallenged. Paul used the truth to diswade the lies. I cannot recall where He names names. "Judeizer Shlomo is spreading a false gospel." He encouraged the believers to rely on the teaching they had received and the Holy Spirit would guide them. Instruct them in all truth, is what Jesus said. The context of some of the scriptures used in the last paragraph of the web site are about the qualifications of a bishop. I guess I'm just getting tired of all this word of faith bashing. Jesus said there would be wolves in sheeps clothing among us. That by their fruit we will be able to tell who is a wolf and who is a sheep. Look at the fruit. The article says "However, we are committed to exposing those who would compromise the essential doctrines of the historic Christian faith." If we followed that would we all be catholic? Don't you think that Luther put up with the same attacks. Called a Heretic. We get so entenched in religion that when we are presented with the truth we call it Heresy. Don't get me wrong. There is no one who has it all down pat. Even I have said some things about the meaning of scripture that I repented and corrected. We must be like the Bereans. They didn't believe Paul but when the word was there they believed. They didn't act like the Pharasees and ther Jews who didn't believe and run around the town stirring up everyone to kick Paul out of town. If we are to have a study on doctrine then let's study it. Word of Faith believes this A, B, C,. . . One person I know said they only know about Word of Faith by what they have read on the forum. That means they know nothing about the doctrines of someone who subscribes to Word of Faith. What does Word of Faith mean to you. What is the Word of Faith doctrine. In your service ASIS |

Romans 16:17-18 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. [18] For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. [KJV] 1 Tim. 1:3-4 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, [4] Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. [KJV] 1 Tim. 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. [KJV] 2 Tim. 1:13-14 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. [14] That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us. [KJV] Titus 1:9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. [KJV] Titus 2:1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: [KJV] 2 Tim. 4:6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. [KJV] Look at these in context and see the true meaning of Pauls exhortation. Hopefully the last reference is about the unknown writer of this web site. |

I can see everything is taken very seriously and lterally here in the Forum. Your correction about casting lots is noted. I look at the history as men thinking they need to help God when all the time God had a number twelve chosen all the time. Enough of that. It is the those who do the Lord's work in the backround never desiring to be in the forefront that are the real heros of the faith. The cleaner of the toilets, of the glass doors never seem to get the acknowledgement that the stars on the platform get. But don't you think that they do ot want to get their acknowledgement from men. They are about the Lord's work. They are doing to here from the Master "Well done good and faithful servant." Were would the church be if the only one we wanted to satisfy was the Lord. Pride is the hardest thing to overcome so we can die to self and be His alone. |

85 | Does God think negative thoughts. | 1 Cor 2:16 | Asis | 86254
Thank you for your responses. They were all excellent. They made me think. We have all sat in the dark and thought there was no hope for our situation. We have brought condemnation upon ourselves for what we have done. There may even be some who thought they were unworthy of life. None of us were exempt. Negative thoughts would creep into our mind and turn us away from who we realy were. These are the negative thoughts I was refering to. We were liars, cheats, filled with greed, full of envy, strife, deceit, malice, disobedient to parents, insolent, arrogant, boastful, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful, full of evil (Rom 1;29-32). I will endeavor to be scriptural. I am going through one of the many trials that come upon all of us. Some more intense than others, but we all go through them. As I pondered my situation, ran out the possible scenarios that could occur, I started to see that all was bleek there was no good that was going to happen to me. I thought, "does God look at the world and think as I have thought?" The Spirit of God told me that I have the mind of Christ. I know what God thinks if I would just listen to Him (1 Cor 2:14-16; Ps 46:10). I realized that if I have the mind of Christ I can access the thoughts of Christ. I had to get my thoughts in line with the Word of GOD. What does He have in store for me? He will be with me always no matter what happens. He will be my strength. I will be able to endure anything as long as I lean on Him. I can control my thoughts. I decided to think on these thoughts of God: Rom. 8:5 (KJV) 5For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Zech. 4:6 (KJV) 6Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts Isa. 43:2 (KJV) 2When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. AMPLIFIED Habakkuk 3:19 The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds' feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]! AMPLIFIED Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]. [Matt. 12:37.] AMPLIFIED Psalm 42:5 Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, my Help and my God. AMPLIFIED Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. As one who reckons, he says to you, eat and drink, yet his heart is not with you [but is grudging the cost]. AMPLIFIED Psalm 3:3 But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. 2 Cor 10:4-6 For the arms of our warfare [are] not fleshly, but powerful according to God to [the] overthrow of strongholds; overthrowing reasonings and every high thing that lifts itself up against the knowledge of God, and leading captive every thought into the obedience of the Christ; and having in readiness to avenge all disobedience when your obedience shall have been fulfilled. And so I know that God doe not think negative thoughts, but only those that lift us up and edify us who are His children. The rest are getting what they deserve. |

Well said prazn The ultimate authority of the meaning of scripture is the Holy Spirit, not Alfred Barnes or John MacArthur or a greek-english lexicon. We have been provided with all the tools to live a godly life. God did not set us free to find our own way but has provide HIS MIND in us. We have access to the secrets and knowledge of Almighty God. All we have to do is ask. Then our task is to Obey. 1 Cor. 1:5 through 1 Cor. 1:6 (KJV) 5That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; 6Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: 1 Cor. 2:9 through 1 Cor. 2:14 (KJV) 9But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Cor. 2:15 through 1 Cor. 2:16 (KJV) 15But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. And on and on bless His name |

Of course. I could never have learned about the Lord if I had stopped asking questions. Yours are all very good. Ask God for ALL He has to give you, then receive that which He gives. James 1:5-6 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. [6] But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. [KJV] I hope you didn't weep with sadness but with the realization that God has worked a wonder in you. The tears of a humble heart. Praise God |

Looking back at the record of Peter's life bears up the proposition that Peter came through the sifting with a strengthening of His faith. During the trial he was going through, the denial of a friend that he loved so he may save his own life, fearing persecution by the religous. I'm sure satan was having a field day with fear. I mean what would have happened to him if he had not denied that he was with Jesus? Jesus was confirming who he was by telling Peter that even though he said he was willing to die for Jesus when push came to shove he would deny he even knew him not once but three times before the cock crowed. Peter had a revelation from God concerning who Jesus was but in the next sentence received a rebuke from Jesus for speaking what satan had spoken through him. What we see is that we are not Jesus. Even though we may profess to beleive God it is not until the time of trial that we must put up or shut up. How have you fared in your trials? I have had to repeat a few and will probably repeat more in the future. Peter was sifted but Peter became deeper in faith, stronger in faith, because of the trials of the days after Jesus crucifixion. I don't think we can look at the trial Peter was going through as being over until his discussion with Jesus on the shore of the lake. Do you love me? That is the qwuestion that Jesus asks us. In my heart is where the answer lies. Even with the repeated denials of being with Jesus and knowing Jesus do you think he stopped loving Jesus? Could it be that, that is how we deny Him? By losing our love for Him. Is that what is meant in Heb. 6:4 through Heb. 6:8 (NASB) 4For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame. 7For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God; 8but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and close to being cursed, and it ends up being burned. How can we partake of Jesus and His divine nature and still lose our love for Him. What a heart of stone that would be. Just meditating out loud. |

Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: It is interesting that most of us conclude that what satan wants to do is a bad thing. I find myself continually being sifted by the trials and tribulations that come my way almost daily. Sifting in Jesus time was the term used for separating the grain from the chaff and stubble. What remained after sifting was the pure grain. satan had requested to sift Peter just as he had requested to sift Job. Job had to go it alone BUT Peter had Jesus. Luke 22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. Here is an example of being covered by the prayer of Jesus. Did Peter pass the test? Was he found of faith after he was sifted? How about you? And when Peter was converted did he not strengthen the brethren? How about you? Are you found faithful after the siftings? |

To all believers STOP If you abide in Me I will abide in you STOP For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak. STOP I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall show it unto you. STOP I will place my Spirit in you. STOP You will walk by the Spirit. STOP But He will not tell you the way to go. STOP? He will not tell you to turn left or right. STOP? He will be silent until I return. Stop? If you don't need to hear from Me I won't talk to you. RIGHT! Stay in touch GOD never stop I find it hard to accept that godly men and women do not seek direction for their lives by asking GOD. How did these men and women know that they are to be involved in ministry. I have yet to find the verse that says, "Gregory Koukl be a pastor and write bizarre and wierd stuff on the internet." So how did he know what to do for the LORD with his life? I don't know about you, but for me God has used other men and women, some saved and some not, He has used His word, my thoughts, and something I can only describe as an inner knowing, to direct my path. Go to Dearborn. Don't go to Ronanoke. I knew it was God. Maybe because I was looking for His direction I heard Him. I have made some incredible blunders in my life because I did not seek God for direction. I missed God. I feel for those who walk the Christian walk alone without the guidance of God, the Holy Spirit and Jesus. Maybe if we just got quiet we would hear what God is saying to us. John 5:37-38 “And the Father who sent Me, He has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time nor seen His form. “You do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him whom He sent. John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: [KJV] |

94 | Thanks to God? | Ps 30:12 | Asis | 85266
justme Three years ago I started to have signs of a heart attack. I prayed that God would not allow it to come to pass. I had been praying 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. I was quiting smoking and I was starting an extreme diet in two days, I had turned from my wicked ways. The pains seemed to go away and I thanked God and praised Him. I slept good that night. In the mornig on my way to work the pain came back. Much worse than the night before. I feel that I was afraid to acknowledge that I might die from this. Now here is the point of my story. I became aware that if I died because of this I would be with Jesus and if God wasn't finished using me for the work He had for me I wasn't going to die. Either way that was a good thing. It was a win-win situation. A peace fell upon me so great that when I went into my bosses office and told him I was having a heart attack and he should call 911 he did not believe me. Lord, I ask that the peace that is beyind all understanding would come upon justme right now. Your word says That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. God even thopugh we cannot see each other we are gathering in the name of Jesus and we ask for healing for Ray and justme. Lord we are touching ion our heart as if we are in contact like my wife and I just were, agreeing in petition for justme and Ray. Lord I thank you that you are a God that answers prayer. We look to you for our provision. You are the healer, the great physician. We thank you for your touch upon justme and Ray. Praise you Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Jira, Jehovah Shalom. We come before you in the name of you precious Son Jesus. |

3 How does the greek grammar go against the face value of our forgiving sins of another. In my church when someone comes to give their life to Jesus the say "The Sinners Prayer." We tell them their sins are forgiven. God forgives sin only Him. NO DOUBT. But Jesus as a man (Phil 2:7) filled with the power of the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:1,14) repeatedly said "Your sins are forgiven" This is the phrase that got him into trouble with the religous leaders more than anything else He said. If I am "in Him" isn't it Him who lives not I. Cant He, through me, forgive sins like He said in the gospels. He knew God is the one who forgives sin just like I know and all believers know yet He said, Matt. 9:6 (NIV) "But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then he said to the paralytic, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” Again: Mark 2:5 (NIV) 5When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” As I understand it, and maybe I'm wrong, if I use the name of Jesus I have the authority Jesus has given us. I also know that all scripture must be taken together. For someone to have there sins forgiven they must confess them and He is quick to forgive them. It could never be just me. It must be from a repentant heart and God. If you saw a fellow human sinking in the sands of despair and seeng that they have cried out to God would you not tell them their sins are forgiven and wouldn't it be true. |

Thank you DAIRYLEADER5 Your insight into the word is appreciated. I agree that there are some who believe this part of the Bible and not that. I have wondered how they reconcile that God would take the time to say something and have someone write it down so we can read it, yet it is not for us. It is a wonderment. Have you ever thought about how in Genesis 2:7 God breathed the "puff (naphach)of life" into Adam and made him a living soul and Jesus "puffed (lambano ) on them and said receive (Re meaning again, anew, back and ceive meaning to take, hold, or grasp), take again, the Holy Spirit and made us a living spirit. What is the everlasting covenant that the bow represents? Genesis 9:11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. [KJV] Everytime I see the bow I remember that God will not destroy us with a flood ever again. I am reminded that God's wrath will come with fire. 2 Peter 3:10-13 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. [11] Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, [12] Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? [13] Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. [KJV] We must be ready to be a witness (martyr) to everyone we meet. We must be ready to give evidence by our lives (the way we live), the way we face adversity, the way we love one another, the way we forgive, of the gospel of the Kingdom of God. When you see the bow acknowledge God as the creator and be reminded the time is short. |
