82 | The Trinity in John | 2 Cor 13:14 | Sir Pent | 113192
Personal Note..................................................... Hello Kalos, I understand that you are working very hard to combat against the "Oneness Doctrine", and to defend the orthodox view of the Trinity. However, this post is not a question, and it was already posted as a note. I have noticed that you have done this multiple times (posting the same thing as a note and a question). This seems to not only be redundant, but also somewhat annoying as the question stays on the main page for a long time due to no one answering it. And no one really can answer it because it wasn't really a question to begin with. I appreciate your posts, but would ask that you try not to post them twice at the same time :) |

85 | Who is Elijah | Matt 27:47 | Sir Pent | 113179
My answer...................................... Hello Nae-nae 04, Jesus did not actually call for Elijah. That was just what the people standing around the cross misheard him. Jesus was actually calling out to God the Father. |

86 | Are there 4 meanings for the word love? | John 15:12 | Sir Pent | 113150
My answer............................... Hello tjtmt, I do not know for sure the answer to your question, as I suppose different people would define and categorize "love" in different ways. However, I think that this would cover what a large number of people would say. I know that there were at least 4 different Greek words that we translate into English as "love. They were "agape", "philia", "storge", and "eros". "Agape" is usually defined as unconditional or unselfish love. "Philia" is the love between friends. "Storge" is the love between family. And "Eros" is the love of attraction (usually physically). |

87 | Resurrection Sunday or easter? | Acts 12:4 | Sir Pent | 113147
The other side................................ Hello Justme, Makarios, and Morant61, I hesitate to come disagree with all three of you who I respect and appreciate so much on this forum. However, I suppose someone should make the case for Easter being OK :) There once was a car company called "Datsun". However, it is now called "Nissan". The Nissan company learned many things from the history of the Datsun, but has also added their own flavor to their cars. Similarly, there once was a holiday called "Passover". It was pretty much only celebrated by Jewish people in one small part of the world. However, it had a great purpose of remembering God's salvation of their people from death and slavery in Egypt. Now there is a holiday called "Easter". It is celebrated by people of all races, all over the world. It also has a great purpose to remember the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made in order to bring salvation to all people from death and slavery to sin. The word "Nissan" is also historically the name of a month of the year, but no one thinks of that when they think of "Nissan". They just think of the car. Similary, the word "Easter" may have historical roots in a false pagan god named "Ashtar", but no one thinks of that when they think of "Easter". They just think of the resurrection of Christ (and chocolate). It seems to me that Shakespeare was correct when he said, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet". Therefore, I don't think that calling the holiday "Easter" is a big deal or a bad thing. |

88 | a friend passed away. | 2 Cor 1:4 | Sir Pent | 113009
I need more information.......................... Hello Gianna, The Bible has a lot of verses that could help, but to pick one, I would need some more information. Was your friend who died a Christian? Are you looking for a verse that will help yourself deal with the loss of your friend, or help someone else deal with that loss? What kind of "help" are you looking for? Do want want encouragement for sadness from losing your friend? Do you want answers to questions like "why did my friend die"? Do you want to get ideas of how you could help the family of your friend? The answers to these questions will help me to better direct you towards Bible verses that will help your situation. |

89 | what covenant did God make? | Gen 17:7 | Sir Pent | 112991
My answer........................................ Hello Kareem2812, God made a covenant with Abraham that God would give the land of Israel to his descendants, and would bless them. In return, Abraham and his descendants were supposed to be comitted to God and set apart to follow God's plan. This was to be symbolized by the act of circumcision. |

92 | What is the Godhead? | Col 2:10 | Sir Pent | 112984
My answer........................................... Hello hh141, The "Godhead" is simply another term for God. It usually is refering to all the persons of God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) together, instead of just one of them. I suppose the best Bible verse to support this name of God would be Colossians 2:9-10. Here it talks about the "fullness of Deity" being in Jesus, and that He is the "Head" over all things. |

93 | What do the Beatitudes mean? | Matt 5:3 | Sir Pent | 112905
My answer................................. Hello Enigmatical 4 U, The dictionary defines "beatitudes" as a "state of upmost bliss". Therefore, the beginning of Matthew chapter 5 is often call the "Beatitudes" section. That is because Jesus is teaching the secret of true joy in that section. |

94 | what is a johova whitness | 2 Pet 2:1 | Sir Pent | 112903
My answer....................... Hello Joyoud, Jehovah's Witnesses are a group of people who believe in a cult. They sometimes claim to be Christians, but there are huge differences in their beliefs and what Christ taught. |

95 | Who did Jesus pray to? | 2 Cor 13:14 | Sir Pent | 112878

96 | Old Testament rituals/feast | 1 Cor 11:25 | Sir Pent | 112867
My answer........................................ Hello Imunderconstruction, You are correct that we no longer are required to celebrate certain holidays (which in the Jewish tradition were called feasts). Please read Galations 4:9-10. Paul here is encoraging the believers to not be enslaved in having to keep doing these things. However, just because we don't HAVE to do something doesn't mean that it isn't a good idea. Jesus did command us to remember him when taking what we now call "communion", or "the Lord's Supper", or "eucharist", etc. These "sacraments" are perfect opportunities to remember Christ's sacrifice for our sins. As such, we should want to participate in them. We should want to take time to celebrate these with other Christians to be thankful to God as the Christian community. How often you do it is less important than the spirit that you do it in. Check your heart not your calendar :) |

97 | Jesus showed he is God? | John 10:30 | Sir Pent | 112550
My answer........................................ Hi Cryst9m, Yes, I have wondered about how Jesus showed that He was God. In fact, there was a time when I believed that Jesus was not God. However, I later discovered the truth of God's deity, and now love Him as my savior, lord, and friend. As for the Bible, there are many places that record ways that Jesus showed He was God. EdB has listed several of these. I would point you to Romans 1:4, which talks about how Jesus was declared to be God because of the ressurection. |

98 | where in bible do angels cry | Bible general Archive 2 | Sir Pent | 112525
Possible answer.................................. Vennersten, Revelation 14:15 talks about an angel "crying out with a loud voice" in this NASB version. This is about as close as I could find. I think that the word "cry" in that verse really just means "shout" (based on the context). I also personally do not know of any place in the Bible where angels show emotion. |

99 | Why Jesus called Savior? | Rom 6:23 | Sir Pent | 112454
Answer................................... Dear Cryst9m, Jesus is called savior, because he has "saved" all who accept Him from sin and death. We have all sinned (Rom 3:23), and we all deserve to die (Rom 6:23). But because Jesus died for us on the cross, He has saved us from that punishment. |

100 | Is this information correct? | Bible general Archive 1 | Sir Pent | 69452
Website Link............................................... Hello Chusarck, To see the Roman Empire, go to the following website: (http://www.hyperhistory.com/online_n2/History_n2/a.html) ............................................... Then click on the round button on the left that says “Maps” ............................................... Then click on the rectangle button on the right that says “Rome Han China” ............................................... All the pink stuff is the Roman Empire. As you can see it includes the modern countries of Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, France, Jordan, Turkey, and Israel. It also contains parts of the modern countries of England, Switzerland, Austria, Libya, Egypt, and several of the small Balkan countries. ............................................... As for your other information, I think it is correct that Babylon capital was in modern Iraq (although the empire included many other modern countries). And Persia’s capital was I think in modern Iran (although the empire also included many other modern countries). As for Greece, it’s capital was in the modern country of Greece, but it’s empire streched from parts of Spain and Libya in the West to parts of Asia in the East. |
