82 | Literal or Not? | Matt 19:4 | Pastor Glenn | 92877
journey_me, You asked: "...how do we distibguish metaphors, parables, and symbols?" The bible identifies when things are not literal as when Jesus mentions creation: Matthew 19:4 And He answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made[19:4 NU-Text reads [created.] them at the beginning "made them male and female,'[ Genesis 1:27; 5:2] ] "When discusiing creation you are lead to believe that the bible is literal? Where is the proof that the Genesis creation story should be read as such? " Without a literal Adam and Eve creation story, the "original sin" cannot be taken litterally either. Then the need for a Savior also falls so there is no longer a need for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. "Where is the proof that the Genesis creation story should be read as such?" Where is any indication in scripture that the Genesis creation story can be read as none literal? Pastor Glenn |

83 | Only Gospels as Authority? | 2 Tim 3:16 | Pastor Glenn | 92247
seekingtruth, Hank is right. There is no logic to your questioners' way of thinking. It is clear that they want to stay in their sins. They will resist the truth no matter what book of the bible it comes from. There is plenty in the 4 gospels that you can present, but since they already decided to pick and choose what they want to believe, it is probably futile. The Gospels are built and founded upon the "Rock of offence", the "Stone that the builders refused", the "Word" that the Old Testament prophets spoke of. Jesus Christ firmly showed himself as the fulfilment of the truths that God had told to faithful witnesses from the beginning of time. To attemp to cut off the old testament is like removing the foundation from a building. And to attempt to remove the Epistles is to take away the power of the Gospel, since the Epistles prove the power of God and the Deity of Christ simply by how living witnesses have believed the report of the Epistles and sustained Christianity for the last 2000 years. By the way here is one scripture to start with: Matthew 7:26 "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: Pastor Glenn |

85 | Ques. re the Carnal Christian Teaching | Rom 7:14 | Pastor Glenn | 92049
Radioman2, Notice the opening of this article: "...The "Carnal Christian" teaching is primarily based on an erroneous interpretation of a single passage of Scripture (1 Cor. 3:1-4). " This is not true. By performing a bible search using the words "babe" and "milk" we get the following: 1 Corinthians 3:2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; Hebrews 5:12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. Hebrews 5:13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 1 Peter 2:2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, He did not even mention the other scriptures. This indicates that the author did not do his homework before publishing his article. Pastor Glenn |

New Creature, This is an excellent point. Noah and his sons all lived a very long time. This was plenty long enough to keep the world from forgetting everything from Adam until Abram. Imagine how different our country might be if Christopher Columbus, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and others were still alive today. Image how much demand there would be for them to teach at our universities and hold public office. Interesting. Pastor Glenn |

88 | God selection for His protection | Rom 8:32 | Pastor Glenn | 91158
confusing, Welcome back to the forum. God protected Jesus for a time, but He came into the world for the purpose of dying for our sins. He was greater than Abel, because Christ was perfect, but God did not spare Him: Romans 8 28And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter."[3] 37Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Also, we are pilgrims in this world. But death is not final: Hebrews 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth: 1 corinthians 15 50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. 51Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed-- 52in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." 55"O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" 56The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Pastor Glenn |

89 | What common beliefs does the Forum have? | Mark 9:39 | Pastor Glenn | 91150
justme, I believe in the virgin birth. By the way, it seems that Jesus set the limits very well in Mark 9 38 Now John answered Him, saying, "Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us." 39But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me. 40For he who is not against us is on our side. 41For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward. 42 "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. 90 | HOW did He take our sin upon Himself? | 2 Cor 5:21 | Pastor Glenn | 91142
Parable, This is a very complex set of questions. The bible has a lot to say about them in many different places. You asked: "What I do not understand, is HOW those sins were taken up by Him, " Jesus is the great sacrificial Lamb. Without the sheding of blood there is no remission of sins. Acts 10:43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins." Hebrews 9:22 And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission. "HOW those sins were crucified with Him, " We are born again of the spirit. Flesh and blood of our natural selves shall not inherit the kingdom of heaven. Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: One thing that is very hard for us to understand is eternity. God uses an eternal Lamb to take away the sins of all that accept Him by faith for all time. Time is meaningless for His sacrifice. Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. "and HOW He was made sin in our place." Read all of Hebrews 9. Heb 11 13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them,[3] embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. 15And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them. Pastor Glenn |

91 | What is a cult? | Matt 18:6 | Pastor Glenn | 90728
Truthfinder, You said that you are no longer a Jehovah's Witness. I wonder if that has changed again. You said, "Clearly, cults are generally understood to be religious groups with radical views and practices that clash with what is accepted today as normal social behavior." What is a cult? The bible has something to say about "the spirit of error". When the bible warns against the spirit of "anti-Christ", it refers also to the spirit of error. Whereas, the Witnesses warn against "anti-Jehovah", while also belittle-ing Christ as the angel Michael. It seems that they have mis-identified the wrong "Door". This is an enormous error! Why? 1 John 4 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3and every spirit that does not confess that[1] Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. 4You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. 6We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. They are so concerned about "small" things like using the name Jehovah. They look down on the use of "LORD" instead of "Jehovah". However, I notice that they have no problem with the huge error of calling the Holy Spirit an "active force", while the bible warns against blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. Why? The "radical views" of the Jehovah's witnesses are very appearent. Pastor Glenn |

Mel Dillon, Emmaus answered all but your last question. You also asked: "...When does human life begin?" Physically, human life is a continuation of life from Adam and Eve until now. So life begins at conception, in that a new soul begins, but again, life is a continuation. There is no period of time where anyone can truly say that a fetus is without life. 93 | Which proposition is scriptural? | John 3:16 | Pastor Glenn | 89057
Hello John, Very interesting question. With this question you really get to the heart of the matter so I can't help jumping in. :o) I hold the first proposition: Despite being "dead in sin", "without hope", and "loving darkness rather than light" fallen man still has the ability to choose spiritual good (Christ). Supporting scriptures: John 3 19And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God." Do men choose Christ? I say yes, but only after God calls us. I believe in the "day of visitation": Luke 19:44 and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation." 1 Peter 2:12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation. Based on these scriptures, I believe that all men are taken out of their depravity on the day of visitation to make a choice. This day is different for everyone: Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." For the one thief on the cross it was like a death bed confession. Many would like a death bed confession so that they may stay in their sin till the last minute. But Jesus warns us to be ready: 1 Thessalonians 5:2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.[3:10 NU-Text reads [laid bare ] (literally [found] ).] Mat 24 42Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour[6] your Lord is coming. 43But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. The Faithful Servant and the Evil Servant (7) 45 "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. 48But if that evil servant says in his heart, "My master is delaying his coming,' [7] 49and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Why did Jesus warn us unless we have some choice in the matter? Pastor Glenn |

94 | Still an adulteress if I marry again? | 1 Cor 7:11 | Pastor Glenn | 87923
Squirrel0123, First of all, you should be concerned about retaining or restoring your relationship with God. Read Psalm 51 and see your pastor. Keep Your Marriage Vows 10 Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. 11But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife. 12But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her. 13And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him. 14For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy. 15But if the unbeliever departs, let him depart; a brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace. 16For how do you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O husband, whether you will save your wife? 39A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord. 40But she is happier if she remains as she is, according to my judgment--and I think I also have the Spirit of God. 95 | Judas death? Matt and Acts different | Matt 27:7 | Pastor Glenn | 87815
CMMiller, It is well understood how others can perform tasks for someone else acting as their agent, especially if they are disabled or dead. Mat 27 5Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6But the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because they are the price of blood." 7And they consulted together and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in. 8Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of Him who was priced, whom they of the children of Israel priced, 10and gave them for the potter's field, as the LORD directed me."[Jeremiah 32:6-9] Acts 1 16"Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus; 17for he was numbered with us and obtained a part in this ministry." 18(Now this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out. 19And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem; so that field is called in their own language, Akel Dama, that is, Field of Blood.) 20"For it is written in the Book of Psalms: "Let his dwelling place be desolate, And let no one live in it';[Psalm 69:25] The question is really of whose name went on the deed to the property? Who would doubt that it was Judas' name on the deed? Yes Judas fell, after a time his body fell. Are you asking whether the rope, his neck, or the tree gave way? Whatever, it does not change the fact that he hung himself. Pastor Glenn |

96 | "Romans Road" type verses in the OT | Rom 11:8 | Pastor Glenn | 86685
Gator71642, The closest reference is to verse 8: Deuteronomy 30 14But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. 15"See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. 17But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. 19I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; 20that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them." Isaiah 53 shows the need for the Messiah to die for our sins: Isaiah 53 The Sin-Bearing Messiah 1 Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? 2For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. 3He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth. 8He was taken from prison and from judgment, And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken. 9And they[1] made His grave with the wicked-- But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth. 10Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. 11He shall see the labor of His soul,[2] and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities. 12Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors. 98 | How do you find the Lord?? | 1 John 4:7 | Pastor Glenn | 86587
Redbone, You repent of your sins and ask Jesus Christ into you heart. Then confess Christ with your mouth. Be baptised as part of your public confession in obedience to Christs command. Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? Rom 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! Rom 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. You will know that you have found Him if you have love for others. He will change you from the inside out. 1Jo 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 1Jo 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. 1Jo 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1Jo 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 1Jo 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 1Jo 3:19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. 1Jo 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. 1Jo 3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 1Jo 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jo 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jo 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

99 | The "short " ending of Mark? | Mark 16:8 | Pastor Glenn | 85329
JRM, I wanted to address your points. 1) how can this gospel account be read in harmony with the others (as historical accounts)? Verses 9-20 of Mark 16 are bracketed in NU-Text as not original. They are lacking in Codex Sinaiticus and Codex Vaticanus, although nearly all the other manuscripts of Mark contain them. (NU-Text These variations from the traditional text generally represent the Alexandrian or Egyptian type of text, as found in the twenty-sixth edition of the Nestle-Aland Greek New Testament (N) and the United Bible Societies' third edition (U), hence the acronym, "NU-Text".) The above information is from my study bible. (Life Application Bible, Tyndale) I admit that there are definite differences between the four Gospel accounts. But, these differences enhance the truth of the heart of the story: Jesus rose from the grave and showed Himself alive to many witnesses. If the accounts were too much alike the skeptics would say "collusion"! 2) in terms of the message the gospel contains (as a narrative), why would so many copies end with the bleak ending? "bleak"??? The man who was called the Messiah, Christ, the Holy one of Israel had just risen from the dead! What do you see as bleak? 3) what do you make of the textual authority of the longer versions? (After all, we hold the "original autographs" to be authoritative, no?) As long as we are made aware of the longer and shorter versions we can have a better view of the entire story. We still do not know whether the original secretary returned to finish the job or what. I also like to see italic words that were not in original so that we are free to compare the meaning of verses after praying. Notice also how Nicodemus (John 3) did not understand the concept of being born again after studying and memorizing the scriptures all his life from the original Hebrew documents. Scripture also speaks of those that are dull of hearing and seeing. We must deal with the glaring imperfections in our hearts before we can really understand God's word. John 3:9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? John 3:10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? John 3:11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. John 3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? Matthew 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Acts 28:27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Hebrews 5:11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. There is more manuscript support for the New Testament than for any other body of ancient literature. Over five thousand Greek, eight thousand Latin, and many more manuscripts in other languages attest to the integrity of the new testament. Pastor Glenn |

100 | Why God only help Israeal people? | Gal 3:8 | Pastor Glenn | 83298
Figoyuen, This is a very good question. I see from your previous posts here that you are a new Christian. I will try to answer your question. May the Lord help me to give you understanding. God's plan to send Jesus the Christ (the Messiah) into the world required a man of faith to become the father of a Kingdom of Priests to lead the world to God: Exodus 19 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel." They were also required to birth the Messiah to save the world from their sins. God always had the whole world in mind for salvation. He wanted Israel to be the leaders through His personal agreements (covenant) with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (who was renamed to "Israel"). Genesis 28 12Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13And behold, the LORD stood above it and said: "I am the LORD God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. 14Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. 15Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you." Romans 4:9 Does this blessedness then come upon the circumcised only, or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness. Romans 4:12 and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised. Romans 4:13 For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
