81 | Why did GOD make woman from the mans rib | Gen 2:23 | Mommapbs | 138788
Greetings! God doesn't tell us why He did this, but I suspect from this verse, God may have wanted man to recognize that the woman was part of him. Because she was formed from Adam's rib, woman is his missing part. Woman "completes" the man. Think also about the command of God in the next verse: "For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." IMO, "one flesh" is quite significant. What might this suggest to us about God's view of homosexuality? Blessings, mommapbs |

82 | Lust of flesh, lust of eye, pride of lif | 1 John 2:15 | Mommapbs | 138542
Greetings. Take a look at Gen 3:6. "When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; . . ." Do you see the "lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life here?!! For more insight, read the notes associated with this verse. Imo, when we love the world in this manner, we love from the flesh, from our carnal sin nature. (See Romans 7-8) We are to love God above all else (Mt 22:37). When we love God, we will respond to the world and to others in the same way that God does. "For God so loved the world . . ." For it is Christ in us who loves; we are but the conduit. Imo, all too often, sin plugs up the holes that God desires to flow through! Imo, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life is the same as loving the world or the things of the world ahead of God. When it's all about me, or all about you, instead of God, it is sin. The original sin was pride; all else flows from this. Both sin and pride have "i" in the center! When we choose to love from our heart (see Dt 30:6, Ez 36:26), from our spirit in Union with Christ, we will love as God desires (Apart from Me, you can do nothing John 15:5) and bring glory to Him. 84 | why would God allow his son to die fo us | John 15:13 | Mommapbs | 137802
Greetings - first of all, when you are with co-workers, I encourage you to not use company time to engage in spiritual discussions. The simplest answer to why did God allow His Son to die is God loves people and He wants us to live!- See Romans 5:8; 1 John 4:9 What makes me think that God will protect me if He didn't protect His Son? His love for me that sent Christ to the cross, to pay MY debt for sin. Since Jesus paid the penalty for my sin in His body - what do I have to fear? The only thing to fear is the wrath of God that remains upon those who reject the substitutionary atonement of Jesus See Romans 5:9 and John 3:36. One who refuses to recognize God sould be the subject of our prayer. It is only through the work of the Holy Spirit that this person can be enlightened. Just keep speaking the truth in love, live as a light before her and don't engage in pointless arguments. Evolution is just a theory - it was proposed to eliminate a Creator. There is much more evidence for "creation" then there is for evolution. You are on the winning team, but don't be arrogant about it! Do read up on creationism so if asked, you will have a ready defense. See 1 Peter 3:15 Blessings, mommapbs |

86 | Is Christ and His Church seen in S of S | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 137798
Greetings Pearl - since the marriage relationship is to be a reflection of the love of Christ for the church (see Eph 5),in my opinion the Song of Songs can be read with both perspectives in mind - however, to ignore one in favor of the other might deny the reader of a blessing God intends. mommapbs |

87 | What is this "valuation of persons" abou | Lev 27:2 | Mommapbs | 137796
Greetings Just Read Mark - I believe the answer is found in verse 8. I appears that the "valuing" is the amount to be paid for the making of the vow before the Lord - remember what David said: "But King David said to Ornan, 'No, but I will surely buy it for the full price; for I will not take what is yours for the LORD, or offer a burnt offering which costs me nothing.'" 1 Chron 21:24 IMO, although Grace is free, we as believers should remember to "count the cost" of following Christ! To whom much is given, much is required comes to mind.(Lk 12:48) Blessings, mommapbs PS - I'm off for a few days so if you reply I won't be able to respond right away . . . |

88 | Forgive only when sin is confessed? | Rom 5:8 | Mommapbs | 137722
Greetings! Where your sins forgiven before you asked? When Christ died, His death was the propitiation for our sin, our debt was cancelled, forgiven; God's wrath against sin was satisfied. Our forgiveness was accomplished on Calvary; it s complete. We are forgiven but we receive forgiveness when we ask. Likewise, we are to forgive others, immediately, before they even ask! If we with hold forgiveness or make it conditional, then we fall into sin too! I liked what Doc told you - forgiveness is a description of a saved person. We ask God to forgive us, how dare we not forgive those who "tresspass against us!" In reality, all offense and insult (that we pridefully take in ourselves) is against God. Try looking at your hurts with this perspective - it might change the way you see things. Blessings, mommapbs |

90 | what are the differences in goals and | Phil 3:21 | Mommapbs | 137712
Greetings - as I read this passage it appears that Paul is possibly referring to his warning in v 2. These verses suggest that in our journey, we will encounter those who look religious because of what they "do" and yet they have no intimate relationship with the Lord - they are "enemies of the cross." Their goal is a righteousness based upon their "good works" and their desitiny is eternal separation from God. see Mt 7:15-23. Believers can look forward to the promise of v 21. (So can unbelievers, for they too will be subject to Him!) Blessings, mommapbs |

91 | desires of the heart | Ps 37:4 | Mommapbs | 137711
nae-nae 04 - keeping God's commandments does not manipulate God into doing what YOU want. When we "delight in the Lord" we seek to please Him for WHO He IS, not for what we can get Him to do for us. God looks at the heart - if our motives are self-centered, they are impure. Read the notes (green N) on this verse. Blessings, mommapbs |

92 | How is Timothy an example of christlike | Phil 2:19 | Mommapbs | 136655
What did Timothy do that showed God at work in Him? (v 13) How did Timothy demonstrate "being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose?" In what ways did Timothy "do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind?" How did Timothy "regard others as more important than himself? In what ways did Timothy not "merely look out for his own personal interests, but also for the interests of others?" Phil 2:2-4 mommapbs |

93 | How is Christ's attitude evident.... | Phil 2:28 | Mommapbs | 136654
Read Phil 2:3-4. I'm sure you can see this in operation in these relationships. Tan Flipper, you have asked over 50 questions on this Forum - Bible Study homework does enter my mind here, and causes me to be concerned about you! In all this time, you told us nothing about yourself. Please complete the Update User Info under "Resources." As I look at this verse that you reference, I'm wondering why Paul was concerned for them? Perhaps you'd like to offer an answer for a change?! May God bless your questions and may you seek Him for more answers! mommapbs |

94 | Why are people like Timothy rare.... | Phil 2:20 | Mommapbs | 136653
Why do I think people like Timothy are so rare? (Phil 2:20) Self-centeredness rules. Even when we are "concerned" about others, our motives are often polluted. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Prov 23:7 mommapbs |

95 | Why is it important to honor people.... | Phil 2:30 | Mommapbs | 136651
Is there any person we are to dishonor? We are told to love our neighbor,(Mt22:39) love our enemies and do good to those who hate us. We are to bless those who curse us and pray for those who mistreat us (Lk 6:27-28) I'm wondering, how do you respond to the person who cuts you off on the highway? mommapbs |

96 | What are Jesus' grandchildrens names? | Bible general Archive 2 | Mommapbs | 136483
You've received good answers! I'd like to add: "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name." John 1:12 "it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants." Romans 9:8 "The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God." Romans 8:16 There is an expression "God has no grandchildren" which implies that we can't rest upon the faith of our fathers (or mothers)but we must come to God on our OWN! When we decide to place OUR faith in Him, we become "children of God" - heirs of the promise of redemption and eternal life - indeed, we are sons and daughters of the King - imagine that? Now WHY, pray tell, don't we live out this identity? Might is be because we believe that we are less than who God declares us to be? And when we do this, who do we call a liar? Sobering thoughts. 97 | Hebrews - Leviticus, sacrifices in gen. | Lev 17:11 | Mommapbs | 136338
Greetings Big O -Reading in Leviticus, we learn about all the sacrifices the Israelites were required to make. There sure were a lot of dead animals! I understood the necessity of blood – “for without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness,” Hebrews 9:22 - but I did not understand how these offerings could be “a pleasing aroma unto the Lord,” Leviticus 4:31. I’ve smelled burning flesh, and I would never describe it as an “aroma.” I’ve also smelled death; it is anything but pleasing! To me, the stench of death is repulsive; yet what I was reading in Leviticus prompted me to ask, “Why is death an attractive fragrance to God?” I found the answer given in a devotional, by Tommy Tenney called "The Daily Chase." “For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a task?” II Corinthians 2:15-16 What was the “aroma of Christ?” It was His death! To God, the smell of death is pleasing; I finally understood why God required so much blood! The penalty for sin is death and "the Life is in the blood." Something had to die, for "without the shedding of blood (death) there is no forgiveness." Without forgiveness, there is no way for God to come close to US! God wanted His people to be able to draw near unto Him. Yet He is Holy and our sin prevents the intimacy that God longs for; so He provided a Way - from the first sin covered by the bloodied skins of animals to the last covered by the perfect blood of Christ - we come to God only through the blood. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 I hope this gives you something to think about in your search from a correlation between these two Books. mommapbs |

98 | Christian, or Good Ole Boy? 1 of 2 | Prov 23:7 | Mommapbs | 136311
George - The mark of maturity is when we assume responsibility for our own actions, some of which you have done here - yet it appears to me that you are not only name calling but blaming the results of your own poor conduct on others and/or The Lockman foundation. You stated that you "feel that you have been wronged." I encourage you to examine the root of those feelings. Are you looking for man's approval here? Are you angry that you didn't meet some standard that you had set for yourself? Please consider these possibilities. Lastly, God knows all about this experience and I encourage you to trust HIM with the outcome. What might He be trying to teach to you about Himself? About you? Peace, mommapbs |

99 | Christian, or Good Ole Boy? 2 of 2 | Ps 139:23 | Mommapbs | 136307
"He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone . . ." John 8:7 Geroge - I've read your posts and dialoged a bit with you in the past and I am wondering if you have examined your motives for this posting? What are they? I'm confused as to your intention, posting ciriticism of a couple of individuals in a public manner such as this (as a Question instead of as a note) seems (to me) to violate the way that God would have us to confront those who have offended us. (Mt 18:15) I'd also like to ask if at any time when you re-registerd under another screeen name did you identfy yourself as a former participant? Did you apologize for your improper behavior which resulted in the loss of posting privileges? These propmt me to question your motives. But you don't have to give an account to me . . . Peace to you, mommapbs |

100 | Marriage vows | Gen 2:24 | Mommapbs | 135768
Greetings Boni - so everyone's a "Christian" and yet they are tearing you apart? Believers are called to UNITY! And imo, the marriage UNION is to be honored as a refelction of our union with Christ! If you know what God's Word says - then OBEY it. Honor God in your obedience to HIM first. Of course you love your parents, but God's word tells those who are joined in marriage to LEAVE and CLEAVE. This is also a mirror of what He desires in our relationship with Him - we are to leave all other gods and CLEAVE to Him only. IMO, is it possible that your parents have become an "other god." Think about this. Do get some counselling from your Pastor or another Christian elder who knows your situation. I'm saying this with Christian love, Boni, this site is for Bible Study, not solutions to personal problems - we are not trained counsellors here! I've shared what God's Word says, but as you said, you know that . . . so what's stopping you from applying it to your life? The answer to that will probably solve everything else! Blessings, mommapbs |
