81 | Original meaning/event of marriage | 1 Cor 6:16 | Thomas8 | 196834
Hi Doc, I'm very grateful for the reply. Thank you. What was the original meaning of marriage before the overlays? What event created a marriage? I understand things have changed. He said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but *from the beginning* it has not been this way. (Mat 19:8 NASB) |

83 | The Hat situation? | 1 Cor 11:16 | Thomas8 | 204159
Is this sarcasm? Is it like saying, If someone argues against church buildings then we don't have any buildings. Not in New York or Los Angeles or anywhere else. Which would mean, open your eyes and see what is taking place in all the assemblies. So, were the women wearing veils? When did it get modified to 'hats?' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veil |

84 | Explain the gospel using verses. | Gal 1:6 | Thomas8 | 238170
Is Paul confronting a different gospel than the one to Abraham: The one Paul refers to in in Gal. 3:8, 16 and Eph 2:12, 19 and 3:6? Many people believe Paul taught a mysterious gospel distinct from that taught by Jesus and the Apostles and revealed to Paul alone. Comments appreciated.
85 | Why the switch to 'Cephas' in v.9? | Gal 2:9 | Thomas8 | 103689
Why do we have the switch to 'Cephas' in verse 9 in the following passage? (Galatians 2:7) But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; (Galatians 2:8) (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) (Galatians 2:9) And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. (Galatians 2:10) Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do. (Galatians 2:11) But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. |

86 | What promise? To Whom? | Gal 3:19 | Thomas8 | 202897

88 | Function of the Church? | Eph 4:12 | Thomas8 | 202081
Ephesians 4:11-12 (Amplified) And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers. His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ's body (the church), In this passage who are to be the ministers? By that I mean, should the church be a Seminary? How do you understand 'equipping'? It is for what purpose/ministry? |

89 | Are they pastor/teachers? | Eph 4:12 | Thomas8 | 202092
Hi Steve, So, the next question would be 'why' or 'how' did the church change from educators to entertainers? It is not a new situation... Heb 5:12-13 KJVR (12) For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. (13) For every one that useth milk is unskillfull in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. Please speak to the lack of growth with regards to pastor/teachers. |

90 | How important is growth? | Eph 4:12 | Thomas8 | 202096
Hi Brad, I was just trying to distinguish or contrast when using 'educator' and 'entertainer.' It is like we have in the school system where some careless teachers (burned out teachers that do not care) are seen as 'baby sitters' rather than instructors. A teacher needs zeal and purpose; an entertainer just needs to amuse. So, Heb 5:12-13 KJVR (12) For when for the time ye ought to be teachers... I agree we need to look at the members. We should also look at the proportion of time spent on the Word 'in' church vrs other interests. What is their example? Is the service filled with expository preaching and study? Do you think that maybe there is a relationship between the kind of church/preacher one choses and how much daily study is done? Thank you for your reply |

97 | "In" | Heb 1:2 | Thomas8 | 104929

99 | Holy of Holies | Heb 10:19 | Thomas8 | 191341
Consider how radically different this position is compared to the Aaronic High Priest. And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the veil before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat. (Lev 16:2 KJV) Please discuss this NT position. |
