81 | same English word - different Greek word | 2 Tim 3:16 | New Creature | 84732
2 Tim. 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Tim. 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: In the above two verses the word "scripture" is used. In the first instance in verse 15 the Greek word, gramma pronounced (gram'-mah)is used for "scripture. In the second instance in verse 16 I find a different greek word, grapho pronounced (graf'-o)is used here for the word "scripture" What is the significance for the use of the two different uses of the greeks words in these two verses. Someone recently said that the first instance refers to the Old testament writtings and the second instance refers to the New Testament wriitings, so that both Old and New Testaments are meant here. What are your thoughts? Has anyone ever researched this? I did look at my Strongs definitions, but they didn't seem that helpful to me. I thought some of you might have a deeper understanding of the Greek as used here, than my Strongs has. New Creature |

82 | 'Reinvented' Gospel | 2 Tim 4:3 | New Creature | 110140
Here is a news item I came acroos today from Agape Press. I am interested in your comments concerning the article below. Do you agree, or disagree with the author's statements? Pastor Says Some Churches Seizing Christ's Lordship with 'Reinvented' Gospel By Jim Brown January 23, 2004 (AgapePress) - A well-known Christian author and pastor is concerned that a growing number of Evangelical ministers are watering down the gospel message in order to be "seeker sensitive." Dr. John MacArthur says many Evangelical pastors are presenting what he calls a "reinvented designer pop gospel" in hopes of making Christianity appear more attractive or culturally relevant. The pastor of Grace Community Church in San Valley, California, says those who preach in that fashion have a weak view of the authority and power of scripture. "I think it encompasses a weak view of the honor and the power of God and Christ," MacArthur says bluntly. "In other words, I think you're basically usurping the Lordship of Christ over His Church -- you're saying, 'I'm going to stand here and give a message that I think is better than the one that Christ gave.'" Such an attitude, he says, is "a frightening thing to think about." MacArthur believes it is becoming harder than ever to find an Evangelical church that is not compromising the gospel. He says small churches that remain true to God's Word and do not embrace a user-friendly gospel are often viewed today as "archaic" and "unsuccessful." "The huge crowds are drawn by lowering all the standards," he says, citing such apporaches as a "minimalist gospel," an entertainment mentality, and creation of a social environment that attracts people by promising them "the path to success" and better economic status. "You know ... 'You'll do better in your job, your career, your family, your marriage, etc.'" he says. "Those are the kinds of things that are sold on the 'felt need' counter." In his recently published book Hard to Believe, MacArthur contends that many professing Christians do not understand what it means to be a disciple of Christ because they are seeking an experience rather than a person. He also takes aim at the so-called "health-and-wealth" and "name-it-and-claim-it" gospels. Posted by New Creature |

84 | difference between "LORD" and "Lord | Heb 7:24 | New Creature | 68185
Why in many verses of Scripture is the word "Lord" sometimes found in all capital letters, "LORD" and in other instances found just with the fist letter in Caps: "Lord" Sometimes the switch even occurs in the same verse. What is the difference between "LORD" and "Lord?" Here is a Bibical example Psalms 110 1 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. 2 The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. 3 Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. 4 The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. 5 The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. 6 He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries. 7 He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head. Can someone please provide me with the proper answer? New Creature |

85 | hinderances to correct understanding | Heb 10:1 | New Creature | 86691
Do church goers begin to embrace certain teachings, because they have been indoctrinated by denominational creeds, and statements which they would not have otherwise arrived at, had they just stayed home and prayerfully read, studied, and mediatated on the Bible? In other words, can denominations be a hinderance to correct orthodoxy? Can you provide examples? |

88 | seeking repentance | Heb 12:17 | New Creature | 110106
My question is based on the following verse. Heb. 12:17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. Question; If I am reading this verse in the proper context, it appears to me that Esau sought repentance, but could not find it. If that is the actual case then is it also possible for others to seek repenatnce without finding it? In what instance could this be possible? I am curious because in another verse I read where God commands all to repent. So does God command us to do something that may be an impossibility? Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent Please give me some scriptural context to base your opinion on Peace New Creature |

89 | I am not the one sinning? | James 1:14 | New Creature | 110598
How should we view the attitude and opinion of another believer, who believes that whenever he sins, it is not really himself that is doing the sinning. And since he isn't the one doing the sinning, then he is not to blame, and cannot be held accountable? I had a conversation last night in the local coffee shop with a gentleman who used the Scripture below to support this belief Rom. 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. Rom. 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. Blessings New Creature |

92 | antichrist or Antichrist? | 1 John 2:22 | New Creature | 44217
My question is concerning the following verse 1 John 2:22 Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. In a Bible study group last night, the discussion came up concerning "the antichrist" in this verse. One person said it cannot be speaking of the Antichrist, because it is not captialized, and is referring to a little antichrist. Another person said it does refer to the Antichrist, because of the article "the" before "antichrist" is singular - "the antichrist" In Spiros Zodhiates exegetical commentary on 1 John, he capitalizes the word "Antichrist" in this verse. Can anyone shed any light on whether or not this refers to the Antichrist, or a antichrist? |

93 | sin unto death | 1 John 5:16 | New Creature | 50992
The small group Bible study I am involved in, is about to discuss the following two verses. I would appreciate the various opinions concerning the questions I will ask concerning these two verses, from as many of you as possible. I did a community search on this but did not see all these questions answered, which I believe are necessary in order to get a correct understanding of what is meant by these verses. 1 John 5:16-17 If any man see his brother sin a sin [which is] not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. My questions concerning these two verses are as follows 1) Who is the intended audience of 1 John? 2) Is the death mentioned in these two verses physical or spiritual? 3) Is the word "brother" in verse 16 refer to a believing brother - yes or no? 4) what is this "sin unto death" refer to? 5) Is the article "a" before the word "sin" found in the Greek? Love and peace to you |

96 | A New Reformation? | Revelation | New Creature | 95681
In the days of Martin Luther and other like men, a Reformation from the papist traditions was brought about. A Reformation was necessary in those days, which helped steer the church back to Bibical truth. I came across the following quote, which made me pause to dwell upon the direction the church has taken in our times. Consider the quote posted belowand then answer the ensuing question. “We must have A NEW REFORMATION. There must come a violent break with that irresponsible, amusement-mad, paganized pseudo-religion which passes today for the faith of Christ and which is being spread all over the world by unspiritual men employing unscriptural methods to achieve their ends.” Do you feel it's time for the church to go through another period of Reformation? What are your thoughts about this? New Creature |
