61 | Why did David handle Saul's sin wrong? | 2 Sam 21:7 | teragram123 | 58106
I believe this is a prophetic statement pointing to the salvation of Christ... the day of the Lord when each will stand for his own sins done in the body Col. 3:25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons. God is a Covenant God... keeping Covenant even when man forsakes and forgets the words he has vowed... even unto the generations that come after... Saul broke a vow made to the Gibeonites... they tricked the Israelites into making the covenant using deceit. God still held them accountable to the words of the their mouth. This speaks very clearly to the false notion we have heard today about the ease of laying aside our vows that we made foolishly. Eccles. 5:1-7 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. [2] Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. [3] For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words. [4] When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. [5] Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. [6] Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands? [7] For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God. When we enter a Covenant with God... he is our defense... fights our battles for us. The Gibeanites were in Covenant with God’s people... but they failed to protect them under Saul’s reign. God therefore avenged their blood with the blood of Saul’s sons. Note though that the son’s of Jonathan were under a greater Covenant of protection... they were not killed. 2 Samuel 21:7 But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the Lord's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul. Rizpah however did not have a covenant... and could only plead the mercies of David. How clear of a warning that we may receive mercy but the Covenant holds more sure promises. Do we want the decent burial when we die or do we want a covenant promise of salvation? |

62 | SHEPHERDS OR TREASURERS? | Jer 23:1 | teragram123 | 58104
Jeremiah 23:1 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord. 2 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the Lord. SHEPHERDS OR TREASURERS? While praying this morning, I felt the Lord saying that his ministers that were called to shepherd his flock have left their positions and gone over into the place of the treasurer. Finances now have become the key issue of the flock, and not the nurturing and mentoring and equipping of the saints. As Judas, every thing that the Lord sees as needed for the hour is now debated from the treasurers view point as Judas did since he "held the bag". Each word from the Lord is now being sifted thru the mind of the treasurer... is it financially wise? We need to pray for fresh revelation to come upon the church... to do the work of the Father... not financial consultants. |

63 | Where is the Cross? | Matt 16:24 | teragram123 | 58103
PEDAL I used to think of God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of the things I did wrong, so as to know whether I merited heaven or hell when I die. He was out there, sort of like a president. I recognized His picture when I saw it, but I didn't really know Him. But later on when I met Christ, it seemed as though life were rather like a bike, but it was a tandem bike, and I noticed that Christ was in the back helping me pedal. I don't know just when it was He suggested we change places, but life has not been the same since I took the back seat to Jesus, My Lord. Christ makes life exciting. When I had control, I thought I knew the way, but it was rather boring, but predictable. It was the shortest distance between two points. But when He took the lead, He knew delightful long cuts, up mountains, and through rocky places and at breakneck speeds; it was all I could do to hang on! Even though it often looked like madness, He said "Pedal!" I was worried and anxious and asked, "Where are you taking me?" He laughed and didn't answer, and I started to learn to trust. I forgot my boring life and entered the adventure. And when I'd say, "I'm scared", He'd lean back and touch my hand. He took me to people with gifts that I needed, gifts of healing, acceptance and joy. They gave me their gifts to take on my journey, our journey, my Lord's and mine. And we were off again. He said, "Give the gifts away; they're extra baggage, too much weight." So I did, to the people we met, and I found that in giving I received, and still our burden was light. I did not trust Him, at first, in control of my life. I thought He'd wreck it, but He knows bike secrets, knows how to make it bend to take sharp corners, jump to clear high rocks, fly to shorten scary passages. And I am learning to shut up and pedal in the strangest places, and I'm beginning to enjoy the view and the cool breeze on my face with my delightful constant companion, Christ. And when I'm sure I just can't do any more, He just smiles and says ... "Pedal." -- Author Unknown |

64 | Where is the Cross? | Matt 16:24 | teragram123 | 58094
In Christ's Image Weekly Message August 16, 2002 Pastor Francis Frangipane * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WHERE IS THE DISCIPLE'S CROSS? We in our world have a different version of Christianity than that which Christ founded in the first century. Our version secures a hope in the afterlife, but does little to change us in the present life. We are still as easily offended and as unloving as those who do not know Christ -- and we are certainly just as divisive. Yes, we marvel at what Christ accomplished at Calvary, but we shrink from what He desires to fulfill in us. We desire His blessings, but not His backbone. Because we have diluted the full purpose of Christianity, which is conformity to Christ, the power to transform us is likewise diluted. As a result, our leaders fall, marriages fail and the gospel is reduced to a course on ethics, which we can take or leave since God forgives us anyway. As awesome as being forgiven is, the Son of God did not lay down His life only to secure forgiveness; the eternal goal of His sacrifice was to secure our full transformation. Forgiveness is but the first stage of transformation. Thus, when Paul writes of knowing the "power of [Christ's] resurrection" he unites attaining Christ's power with "being conformed to His death" (Phil 3:10). Conformity to Christ's death is the purpose of the disciple's cross; it is the gate into the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. Beloved, it is time to rediscover first century Christianity and the power that comes from carrying the cross of Christ. The Anthem of the Cross Why do we not hear more messages about the disciple's cross? We hear much on inner healing; we know basically how to lead people to Christ. We have even adopted and adapted into our Christian theology terminology from modern psychology -- we know when something needs "closure" or the problems associated with "dysfunctional families." But when will we discuss the power of Christ's cross? When will we rediscover the power of the crucified life? It is not as though the symbol of the cross is absent from our culture; on the contrary. The cross sits majestically on top of our great cathedrals and it adorns our most humble worship centers. It embellishes Bible covers and religious books alike. Not only is it incorporated into the sacred emblem of our many ministries, it is also the insignia for numerous charitable foundations, hospitals, and relief agencies. Row upon row, it stands guard in our cemeteries. It has even become a popular jewelry item, worn by Christians and non-Christians alike. Yet, when was the last time you heard a sermon on the disciple's cross? Or asked the clerk at the Christian bookstore for the section on carrying the cross? Or when did you last participate in a worship service that included just one song about triumphantly bearing the cross? Apart from a hymn or two, the emphasis on the cross is missing. We hear of faith, hope and love; we seek gifts, blessings and prosperity, but why is there no emphasis on the cross? My goal is not to expose what is lacking with Christian music or bookstores, but what is lacking in today's Christianity. From my heart I commend our psalmists for their majestic melodies; their worship songs truly communicate deep and intimate adoration of God. But where is the anthem of the cross? Where are the musical scores that centralize and exalt the very crest of heaven, the triumphant sign of the Son of Man? When will we hear songs that, like banners, unfurl before the army of God, inspiring us to embrace the life and redemptive path of our crucified King? In truth, we lack lyrics about the cross because we avoid teaching the disciple's cross. Our minstrels are only writing songs inspired by current theology. The fault lies in the pulpit and with those of us who are Christian leaders. Under the guise of compassion for the weak, we have presented a gospel that is weak. We present comfort, but not challenge and sympathy without standards. My friends, let us not deny the weak their comfort nor the infirm their healing, but let us also press to the full stature of Christ. Jesus said uncompromisingly to His would-be disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me" (Matt 16:24). It is time to get serious with God, to pick up the cross and discover again the power that accompanies a crucified life. The cross is the power of God. Lord Jesus, for too long I have lived in spiritual immaturity. I have sought to be coddled instead of crucified. With all my heart I desire to become like You, Jesus. Forgive me for being so easily distracted and so drawn to comfort. Hear my heart, O Lord, and restore me to true conformity to You in all things. Amen. |

65 | cult by what definition? | Bible general Archive 1 | teragram123 | 57298
I have read all of the postings to my simple question... why don’t Christian writers name the Catholic church as a cult since my own studies show it to fit the definition given for cults. Are any that are answering and commenting raised in the Catholic Church? It is far easier to study about a religion and speak about it. It is entirely different thing to be raised in it and know what they actually teach. All cults have a store front of beliefs they want to be seen... than there are those beliefs that children are taught and expected to live out. My own daughter, after I wrote a note to the nuns to keep her out of the first communion class, was told to attend against my wishes. She was at the end of the school year and had only a few weeks to complete before we would put her into private CHRISTIAN school. She was sent home with a scapular around her neck and told to never remove it and she would never have to fear the pains of hell. I ripped it from her neck the moment she showed it to me. She panicked saying now I will go to hell. I led her into the sinners prayer again... this time she wanted Christ for sure. That was in 1976... today she is a very strong Christian... has never wavered nor watered down the truth of the Catholic Church. There are semantics used in all cults... say the right words but they have their own meanings. Many on the forum have excused the CC as not being in total agreement with Rome. Hello? You know not what you are saying. As far a saying Mariology has gotten out of hand and this ... they do much of it in violation of decrees from Rome. This is not true... the present pope is re-stressing the rosary as never before. I must cry aloud in praise to God Almighty that HE saved me from it. Had I come first to this forum, I may have been talked out of the Born Again experience. I read the Bible laying on my face before God for two full years, was born again and than laid before HIM for another 3 years seeking truth no matter the pain of being ostracized by my mother and father... leaving all my Catholic friends shaking their heads at me saying I was a heretic... and would suffer the pains of hell for ever leaving “Mother Church”. Had I merely found this forum first, just think all this “divine wisdom” could have spared me all those hours of tears and searching. My prayer is that God in His wisdom will keep the babes from finding this forum until they KNOW their God and can discern the truth from the error. I thank God also that Martin Luther did not have this wisdom of the forum!!!!!! Isn’t it amazing that when the believer had only the KJV, they had to rely solely upon revelation from the Holy Spirit... not man’s helps of the newer easier versions that so many say they like better, because they just can’t get understanding from the KJV. Maybe another question need be addressed... have all that claim to know truth experience the New Birth? God is not a author of confusion... so who may I ask is the teacher of so much diverse truth? Galatians 1:16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: 2 Cor. 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: |

EdB please answer... I noticed by your profile that you enjoy apologetics/ and the study of the cults... Can you please tell me why there are so few writers that will name the Catholic church as a cult. Yet in the study of cults myself, I find that the definition given for cults fully fit the Catholic church. If she is not a cult, please explain to me how she is Christian. And which definition for cults does not fit her? I was raised in the Catholic church and read my way out... and it amazes me that so few Christians will address the real issues. I never missed catechism class or mass in 33 years... yet never once was I led in the sinners prayer or even told that I was a sinner needing to be saved. The word “saved” was what I thought to be a protestant term. If she is Christian, why was I lost right in the midst of her? I was as devout as I believe I could have been. |

Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 70 | Satan.. man or not? | Ezek 28:12 | teragram123 | 57114
I believe you stopped reading before finishing the text... read on Ezekiel 28:13-17 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. [14] Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. [15] Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. [16] By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. [17] Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. these terms can not easily be applied toward a mortal man Ezekiel 28:13 ... the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. ... 14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. 16 ...O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. |

71 | why is Catholic confession required? | Bible general Archive 1 | teragram123 | 57079
I believe you misunderstood me about doctrine and words being true. I was quoting from your statement. “Catholics believe the atoning blood of Christ and only the blood of Christ washes us clean and achieves for us eternal salvation.” The words... the Blood cleanses is altogether true... but If as a Catholic, had I truly believed in the blood’s saving and cleansing power, my faith would have prevented me from confessing to the priest, and doing the penances to alleviate the pain of sin that required a term in purgatory. If I had believed as you were saying, my faith would have shown by my works... and those works would NOT have been vain works. Faith frees the soul of the fear for the need of added works above the Blood. What can wash away my sin? NOTHING but the blood of Jesus. |

Dear Emmaus You said "Catholics believe the atoning blood of Christ" In words and doctrines you are correct... but not in actually walking out in faith. I was raised in the Catholic faith. Yes I learned the words "saved by the blood of Jesus"... yet followed it up by years of penance and indulgences... telling me that these had to be done to wipe away the stain of the sin and the fear of the fires of purgatory. Following are the words I was given as a child to memorize from the Baltimore Catechism... Glossary - Purgatory - The state in the life to come where souls are punished for a time who have died in grace but in venial sin or with a debt of temporal punishment unpaid. #184 Who are punished in purgatory? Those are punished for a time in purgatory who die in the state of grace but are guilty of venial sin, or have not fully satisfied for the temporal punishment due to their sins. Temporal punishment - The punishment which one is obliged to endure for a time, either in this life of in purgatory, for sins that have been for given. Indulgence - The remission of temporal punishment due to sins already forgiven granted by the Church from her spiritual treasury. Partial indulgence - The remission of a part of the temporal punishment due to one’s forgiven sins, effected by the Church through the application of her spiritual treasury. Plenary indulgence - The remission of all the debt of one’s temporal punishment, granted by the Church through the application of her spiritual treasury Penance - The virtue disposing us to be sorry for our sins; also, one of the sacraments, whereby sins committed after Baptism are forgiven by the absolution of the priest to sinners who confess them with true contrition. Confession - The telling of our sins to an authorized priest in order to obtain their forgiveness. If Catholics truly believe in the atoning blood of Jesus... then their “religion” would manifest it! When I knew the truth... I became free indeed. |

Ezekiel 28:12-14 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. [13] Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. [14] Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Ezekiel 28:15-18 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. [18] Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. Ezekiel 28:19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. These verse seem to describe an earthly King... ruled by a spirit being... king of Tyre - Ithobalus II; cp - Ezekiel 28:2 Most of the verses describe a being that seems clearly to be supernatural... one would have to stretch the imagination to say they describe a mere mortal. This is more easily seen in comparison to the account in the book of Revelation in the accounts pertaining to the Anti-Christ who will rule as a mortal fully possessed by the spirit of satan. |

Dear bartay - Can you tell me where in the Bible you are basing this statement... "Jesus said that there was no excuse for divorce except adultery being committed"... I have always understood that Fornication was the only reason. Matthew 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. 78 | I need study notes on Is 43:26 | Is 43:26 | teragram123 | 56701
God was asking Israel to remember Him as a partner in their longstanding relationship, in Covenant, to reason together with Him, and to produce all the arguments possible in their own defense to justify their own backslidings and continued rebellion. There will be a real court and defence and witnesses in Heaven... for this very reason we need to be sure that Christ is our attorney! He on the other hand accused them of sin (Isaiah 43:24,27) He said they were disserving of punishment (Isaiah 43:28). He asked them to bring “evidence”, in self-defense to justify their actions or prove they were accused unjustly. compare this to 1 Samuel 12:3-5 Behold, here I am: witness against me before the Lord, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received any bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you. [4] And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken ought of any man's hand. [5] And he said unto them, The Lord is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that ye have not found ought in my hand. And they answered, He is witness. Psalm 94:2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud. God keeps Covenant... Israel had made Covenant with Him... now He was about to judge the broken Covenant Deut. 10:12-13 And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, [13] To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good? The Law of God will stand up in the “courts of Heaven”... this the very reason satan desires to get a “place” in our lives to legally work and destroy us. Ephes. 4:27 Neither give place to the devil. Place - topos, a spot (genitive in space, but limited by occupancy satan had a legal right to the earth until Christ won it thru the Cross. For this reason he could truly tempt Christ by offering it to Him if He would merely fall down and worship Him. Christ did not deny that satan could actually turn over the title deed to the earth... see notes on Rev 5.1 |

I order you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” Jesus taught in the name of JESUS... not JEHOVAH... the disciples preached and died for the name of JESUS... not Jehovah Read thru the book of Acts... please tell me where Jesus taught or did miracles in the Father Jehovah’s Name. Philip. 2:9-11 NWT - “For this very reason also God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every other name so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground, and every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father” Lord - kurios, (supremacy); supreme in authority, i.e. (as noun) controller; God, Lord Why than do JW's teach and preach in the Name of Jehovah |
