62 | Why do i need to love god? | John 3:16 | ngkh | 223538
Hi, Perhaps a "right being" is a better word instead of "right doing" As Eph 2:8-10 says "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. So question - can salvation be lost if we do not show love to the Father or do any works that shows we love him? Isn't it putting the cart in front of the horse. Why would one give his life to God in the first place? Something good be it hope, love or blessings may have happened, no? Then we are babies. We seek him further through the Word and then relationship begins and we grow. There could be further encounter and you just manifest your love for Him and you will be obedient to the Word. I need not try to love or show love (right doing) but we will love (right being) because He first loved us, Amen? We will then serve according to the gifts He had given us and it will be different if the calling is truly from him. You won't expect accolades from anyone, not even from God when you serve because you do it out of love for him. Amen? It is thus not a "MUST" or "Need" but a "WANT" that builds the relationship and all things that follows with it. This is just my simple personal journey not through any theological studies. Blessings John |

63 | John 4:1-2 | John 4:2 | ngkh | 168646
In John 4:1-2 The Pharisees heard that Jesus was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John, although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples. Q. Why did John mentioned that Jesus did not do the baptizing. Can he not baptize? What is the significance or reason why John highlighted this. Thanks |

I'd like to share my experience that may be relevant to the question. Perhaps reading 1Corinthian Chapter 1 thru 4 might help. It helped me when I had issues with my church pastor's sermon about pursuing excellence. I felt that they were very "work" based. Thus a difference in opinion. I was asked by my concerned elder from where I got my feeding from and I shared with him that I read Watchman Nee, Kenneth Hagins, Derek Prince books. My elder gave me the impression that I have to be careful about the books that I read. So who is right , who is wrong? I believe the Lord then led me to 1Cor which was very appropriate and His message is very clear in the 4 chapters. Chapter 1:10 ( Division) I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. Chapter 1: 20-25 (feeding from men?) 20Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength. 1Cor 2:4-5 ....but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, 5so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power. 1Cor 2:6-16 (Wisdom from the spirit) We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7No, we speak of God's secret wisdom, a wisdom that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9However, as it is written: "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" 10but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.[c] 14The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: 16"For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?"[d] But we have the mind of Christ. 1Cor 3:5-9 (Does it matter who I get the feeding from i.e. my pastor vs Hagins, Prince etc) 5What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. 6I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 8The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. 9For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building. 1Cor 4:5 (God will reveal in His own time) 5Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God. Finally, 1 Cor 4:20 20For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. I'm sorry that I have to almost list out the 4 chapters for I do not know how explain with just one ot two verses. Anyway,I believe that it is still the spirit in us that will guide and reveal at an appropriate time. We must continue to soak ourselves in the Word, and that's one way of getting to know Him just as faith comes by hearing the word of God. I'd like to mention also that my pastors sermon last week took a 180 degrees turn to my surprise and delight. He said. "The church building is secondary" (we are moving to a new bigger and modern premise). "The efforts that we put in is secondary. It must always be about Jesus Christ. It is always His show. not ours." |

Dear Brad, Not sure, if I understood your term on mysticism and existentialism. I haved also read Hagin bashing articles over the net but as far as the books that I have read, I do not see much mysticism except for some healing miracles. (does this constitute as mystic?) In your term of existentialism, much of what Hagins wrote is followed by a passage of the scriptures or rather, he expounded on a particular verse or verses. If that is not biblical, I'm not sure what is. I believe he preached Christ and Him crucified. That's one of the reason why I felt my Pastor was teaching "work" - man centered. As far as the books that I read, it has always been Christ centered and remember that I mentioned earlier that I am in total agreement with my Pastor's comment that our efforts, church building is secondary. It should always be Him first. His show. Now please tell me that this thought is wrong and Christ is not preeminent. Anyway, its not for me to talk for Hagins and others. Why are we in this forum. Who post all these comments. Are we not men? Are we not exercising our thoughts in this forum just as the other writers exercising theirs in their books? You might want to go to 1Cor 3:18-23 Btw, in answer.com, discernment is a term used in a Catholic church. Is it correct? |

Ok,thanks for the cut and paste. If its any consolation, I do not belong to the movement. I just read some of his books. Either I am not reading right or I have yet to read the books that has those teachings that are countered. Might I ask if you have read any of his books or are you just following other peoples comment. If you have, I would appreciate if you will let me know the name of the book, the writings which you feel are questionable and if I do not have the book, I will buy one. Or you might want to download from http://www.rhema.org/media/faith_magazine.cfm which I have just found on the net. Read the article and let me know if it is questionable.I've yet to read all of it. |

Can I assume then that what you have posted is not from your experience nor have you read any of his books and yet you have much against his teaching based on articles given by others. That is one Christian sharing I have yet to comprehend. As I said earlier, I just read his books and I am not his followers nor involved in his movement. What I shared was 1Cor chapters 1-4. But since the mentioned of Hagins...... I wonder if cartoons will come out next. |

68 | Truth | John 7:17 | ngkh | 167549
I believe you have mistook me as a follower or member of the movement. I am not. I just read some of his books. That is all. I am not in a position to draw a conclusion let alone defend him. But...... in a hypotical defamation case. In US laws I wonder if the defence of justification hold water if I tell the judge that my view of so and so is true because I read some articles which was written by some people that I got from the net which also include bibligraphical citations / references which I have not personally seen nor read the book. Even if it is true. I would appreciate if you would explain to me the whole chapter of Romans 14. I am not here to debate. Just felt a bit sad that it comes from a learned brother/sister. |

Hi Brad, Thank you for your thoughts. I am surprised that there was much flaks just on the movement. But I'd like to share that the books that I read written by Hagins "Understanding how to fight the good fight of faith" "Moving Mountain faith" (except for the healing thingee) and "Understanding the anointing" - yet to complete reading thus far do not or I am not reading right contains the the accusation brought forward by a bro/sis in another thread. Nor am I in a position to draw a conclusion because I did not read those contraversial books. That's is why I felt that 1Cor 2:18-23 was appropriate and further to that, when I prayed for guidance, I believe the Lord had also led me to the whole chapter of Romans 14 which might serve as a good reminder. My intention for the initial post is to highlight 1Cor2:9-16 i.e. spirit guided. God Bless |

70 | Appreciate your further thoughts | John 7:17 | ngkh | 167552
HI Mark, Can I quote some parts of a page from Kenneth Hagins 'Understanding how to fight the good fight of faith' page 44 Started with James 5:14-16 'The first thing I noticed, is that James asks a question:"is anyone sick among you?" By asking a question, James infers that there might not be any sick people among them. And, really, if the Church knew and walked in the light of 1Peter 2:24, there would not be any sick in the Church! We would be doers of the Word in every area of our lives, including "By whose stripes ye WERE healed," and we would walk in divine health. Then I read in the next verse about calling for the elders of the church, and I thought a person had to get the elders to pray in order to be healed. (Actually, you don't have to but you may). Tears filled my eyes and I began to cry because there was no one to call to pray for me. But the Holy Spirit which is our Teacher called something to my attention. It was so real, it seemed as though someone spoke up on the inside of me - in my spirit. The Holy Spirit said,"Did you notice the verse said, "the prayer of faith (italics) shall save the sick"?" I looked at it again and said, "Well yes, that's what it says." And that voice within said, "You can pray that prayer as well as anyone". I began to see it! I began to believe it!" I would appreciate your thoughts on what was written. Thanks. |

71 | Appreciate your further thoughts | John 7:17 | ngkh | 167575
Hi Mitch, Did not mean to add fuel to the fire. Even if the passage was written by some one else, I would have asked the same question because I read that Watchman Nee also expounded on this verse but with a different meaning. I am trying to find the book laying somewhere in my midst :-) Thus when I saw the same scriptures brought up by Bro Markn with a differrent thought, just wanted to see his view on the matter. Would appreciate yours also. Thanks |

72 | Can we borrow or lend? | Acts | ngkh | 157372
I am doing "financial freedom" course at church by the Institute in basic Life priciples (Men's manual,Volume II) and basically, we are not to borrow and also not lend. I find it difficult to comply. If I want to buy a house and I do not have the money to pay in full. How am I ever to own a house. Even if I were to save for several years ( same amount of the instalments) by the time I got the money, inflation considering, the cost of the house then would have been higher and I'm back to square one. Does it mean that God does not want us to own a house? About not lending - Matthew 5:42 Give to him who ask of you and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you. Who is right? |

74 | What is eternal power and divine nature | Rom 1:20 | ngkh | 145588
Romans 1:20 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. What did Paul meant when he said 1) His (God's) "eternal power" and "divine nature" that have clearly seen. Any examples of what was seen? Thank you. |

77 | Romans 3:10 | Rom 2:12 | ngkh | 145599
Romans 3:10 or Psalms 14:13 53:13; Eccles. 7:20 - What if someone asked that this quotation " None is righteous" was written by man (David?) and not God which means that if it was a man's judgement and not God's does it still hold water? Likewise for verse 23, what if someone argued that Paul is making the judgement since he is still a man although he may be an apostle contrary to Romans 1 |

78 | does God take away his promise form you | Rom 6:14 | ngkh | 159226
If you have Christ in you, would you sin again? Romans 6:13-15 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. I believe the question should be "Do I have Christ in me rather than how many times will God forgives me. Just my 2 cents worth. |

79 | does God take away his promise form you | Rom 6:14 | ngkh | 159228
I'm sorry if I have you wrong. Then.... Philipians 3:12-14 might provide the answer. 12Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Can you see what I'm getting at? Yes, we are not perfect. Even Paul said the same thing. The difference is 1) you choose to sin and hope for God's grace. 2) You are already in God's grace but due to our carnal mind (flesh) we sin. I'm meant to answer that 2nd part. The anwer probably lies on CHOICE. God Bless |

Romans 6:23 22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Blessings to you in the name ofour LORD. |
