61 | Rabbis not paid? | James 3:1 | Thomas8 | 205559
Thank you, Tamara. It reminds me of ... And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. (Mat 10:7-8 KJVR) Anything you would like to add is always appreciated. |

62 | Rabbis not paid? | James 3:1 | Thomas8 | 205556
Hi MJH, Thank you so much for your help. Do you think that the following is a reliable site (I do not know anything about this subject.) http://tinyurl.com/5jgdvu "While the rabbinate became a paying profession starting in the 14th century, the training of rabbis was still the product of the personal interaction between devoted students and revered teachers." |

63 | Rabbis not paid? | James 3:1 | Thomas8 | 205535
On James 3 William Barclay says ... "It was true that a Rabbi was not allowed to take money for teaching and that he was supposed to support his bodily needs by working at a trade;" Does any historian know about this? Is it factual? |

64 | Please define sin. | 1 John 5:17 | Thomas8 | 205474
Is there an extensive list of definitions of sin? Any additions to these would be helpful. All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. (1Jn 5:17 KJVR) Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. (Jas 4:17 KJVR) Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. (1Jn 3:4 KJVR) |

65 | 'Now' refers to ... ? | John 12:31 | Thomas8 | 205245
'Now' as in immediately? 'Cast out' from heaven as in Luk 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Rev 12:9 KJVR) ? I did read the few previous comments but would like something that was clearer. |

66 | Love sinner hate sin Part II | Ps 5:5 | Thomas8 | 205125
I realize I'm responding to a post about 4 years old and hope Doc will forgive me for this, but it is an interesting subject. Would anyone take Mt 5:43-47 as meaning Love your enemies, Satan is your enemy, therefor love Satan? I don't think so... Jesus also said, "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:"(Mat 25:41 KJVR)Is it sin or sinners that are cast into the Lake of Fire? If God hates the sin and loves the sinner why isn't that distinction made at that most important moment? Surely a refining fire might leave something? Paul wrote Rom 12:14. 'Do not curse them.' He also wrote, If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha. (1Co 16:22 KJVR). That is a pretty strong and extensive verse. I am thankful when people consider these contrasts and try to reconcile them. My powers of rationalization fail me often. Your comments are appreciated and do help me learn. God bless you. PS, before someone jumps on the word 'rationalization' above, I intended it in the first sense and not the second: 1. To think in a rational or rationalistic way. 2. To devise self-satisfying but incorrect reasons for one's behavior. |

67 | An interesting discussion/question | Romans | Thomas8 | 205118
" (Jeremiah 15:1-4; Zechariah 11:8-9; Revelation 3:16; etc. etc.) " I would much appreciate the 'etc. etc.' These are very powerful verses and thank you for posting anything you can add to this subject. |

68 | Does consciousness vanish at death? | Phil 1:23 | Thomas8 | 205048
Hi Doc, I was not forming/supporting a doctrine. It has to do with methodology. I was showing that some opinions are based on very pliable concepts. A sleeper can dream and a living soul can be unconscious/coma or flat line temporarily. 7 years old ... and still going strong! I'm so impressed. I may learn to like this Internet stuff. :-) |

69 | Does consciousness vanish at death? | Phil 1:23 | Thomas8 | 205040
Here are two examples on the subject that I do not find discussed when addressing the issue. 1) I have vivid dreams when I sleep. 2) During a minor surgery I was alive and TOTALLY unconscience (unaware) of anything. Are these illustrations ever used to support anything? I have not seen them. |

70 | Methodist position on the Revelation? | Rev 1:1 | Thomas8 | 205017
Thank you for explaining the different systems of interpretation for the Revelation. Does anyone know which system the United Methodists use? I've looked at their website and googled for Methodist, prophecy and Revelation but I do not know their position. Any urls or comments would be appreciated.
71 | Time Lines Online? | Rev 1:1 | Thomas8 | 204951
Rather than reinvent the wheel :-) can you point me to very detailed prophetic time lines? I understand they might be based upon different systems of interpretation. If they line up last trumpets or 'man of sin' examples and provide a lot of Scriptures it would help. Google did not help me with this one.
72 | Where is Ps 88:28? | Rev 1:5 | Thomas8 | 204736
In Robertson's Word Studies on the this verse there is a reference to Ps. 88:28. There is no verse 28 - so comments appreciated. http://www.site-berea.com/B/rwp/n27c1.html |

74 | What changed? | John 8:30 | Thomas8 | 204688
Hi Tim, The reason I ask is that it looks like the 'they' of v 33 refers to those believers in v 30-32. It looks, to me, like the English means... Jesus said 'the truth shall make you free' and they answered 'we are not in bondage'. Do you see why I'm having the problem? |

75 | Did God 'see' the offerings? | Not Specified | Thomas8 | 204626
Is there any indication that God 'saw' the offerings in the OT? That he looked at them being offered? Maybe there is something along the lines of Abraham offering Issac and God being there...? Anything would be helpful. |

In Jn 8, v1to8 Pharacees accuse. In v 9and10 they leave. In v 12and13 they are still there? Comments appreciated.
78 | What changed? | John 8:30 | Thomas8 | 204620
Regarding Jn 8:30-47, they believe in v 30 and want to kill Jesus but by v 37. They want to kill Him? What happened? Where is the change?
79 | Destiny of Hinnom? | Jer 31:40 | Thomas8 | 204543

80 | Interpretative Schools? | Rev 1:1 | Thomas8 | 204451
I understand that there are some (4 or more) main interpretative schools for The Revelation. Can you tell me what they are and a little overview about each of them?
