62 | Speaking in tongues | Acts 2:4 | John Ryals | 227935
Some teach and preach that the Baptism with the Holy Spirit is an experiencing subsequent to Salvation. Some believe when one is baptized with the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:4 that he speaks with other Tounges as the Spirit of God gives the utterance. However, while some cherish the Baptism with the Spirit, I believe we must reject the insistence of the "Jesus Only People" that the experience is necessary for Salvation. We cannot accept the view that "born of the spirit" in John 3:5 refers to the experience depicted in Matthew 3:11. The only Baptism that John could give anyone was the "Baptism unto Repentence." He states here that Jesus would Baptize "With the Holy Spirit, and with fire." There are three types of Baptisms', 'The Baptism into Christ', 'Water Baptism', and 'Baptism with the Holy Spirit. Remember Paul said: "For by grace are you Saved through Faith, and that not of yorselves: it is the Gift of God: "Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9.) In view of what Paul said, are the "Jesus Only" adherents Saved? They are basing their Salvation on their in Water Baptism and speaking with other Tongues; however, God cannot honor a salvation by works, only by Faith in Christ, and what Christ has done for us at the Cross. Paul also said: "That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved." "For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto Salvation" (Rom. 10:9-10). Not one time here does Paul mention Water Baptism or speaking with other Tongues, or anyhting else for that matter, only "confessing" and "believing." So, in view of all of that, we ask again the question, Are the 'Jesus Only' adherents Saved?" I believe some are and some aren't! If one's faith is in anything other than Christ and what Christ has done for us at the Cross, pure and simple, it is a belief system consisting of "works." God cannot accept that,He can only accept His Son and what He did for us at Calvary, and our Faith in that Finished Work. However, We should ever exalt with ever-increasing fervor and devotion, the Precious Name of Jesus; however, it is my believe it is heretical to apply the Name of Jesus to the Father and the Holy Spirit. Nevertheless, it is my earnest prayer that our souls will be set aflame with the true glory of the wondrous Name of the Son, the Lord Jesus christ. I would pray daily that we would recieve a fresh Revelation of the Beauty and Power of that Name, the Blessed Name, "Jesus." |

63 | Actual process? | Romans | John Ryals | 228176
Hi Sankalpa, Praise the Lord! I've been following your discussion thread and based on your question, I too don,t like he word 'ritual'. If we use the scripture's in 1st Peter, Chapter 5:1-4; this may give some light to your question. It is my believe, that I must lead by example and the Holy Spirit does the rest. As verse 2 states in 1st Peter, Chapter 5, "Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constaint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind," Verse 3, "Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock." I think being a proper example is being a 'True Shepherd'. As for the Baptism, there are three types, the Baptism into Christ, Water Baptism, and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Not quite understanding your question as to 'actual process', but if you will reword the question so my simple mind can understand, I would appreciate the discussion fellowship with you. May God Bless You! You stated that you knew how to convert someone to Islam. This means you are well versed in the ways of Islam, Correct? My question, When did you convert to Christianity? With Humbledness, John Ryals |

64 | Difference between one's heart and soul | Rom 8:27 | John Ryals | 230477
In the first partial of the scripture where it states, "and He who searches the hearts of men know what the mind of the Spirit is," Does not this mean that God searches our hearts and sees through our intentions and if there is a desire placed there by the Holy Spirit, then and only then he hears and answers our hearts desires? Thinking out loud and would appreciate some feedback from you wonderful scholars.

67 | WHAT IS THE MEANING OF RENEWING YOUR MIN | Rom 12:2 | John Ryals | 229853
Proverbs 4:23 states, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life," By renewing my mind I renew my heart! Once renewal is achieved I must guard these new dispositions and inclinations, as well as new sympathies and antipathies. Which comes at the time of Conversion and Sanctification. Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good, and acceptable, and Perfect, Will of God." |

69 | God will not put more than we can bear | 1 Corinthians | John Ryals | 227997
1st Corinthians 10:13; 13) "There has no temptation taken you but such is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it." This verse refers to the limitations God has placed upon Satan respecting that which he can or cannot do; as we have God's promise; all temptation is overcome by our Faith remaining constant in Christ and the Cross , which gives the Power of the Holy Spirit to help us, [Rom. 8:2] in the "way of escape" is always the Cross. [Eph. 6:10-18] I hope this is what you are searching for, if not get back with me and we will do our best with the help of the Holy Spirit. I pray to the Heavenly Father that you come through your surgery with no complications and a have quick recovery. Amen. May God Bless You John Ryals |

71 | Sanctification Process? | 1 Cor 1:2 | John Ryals | 228402
Thank you for that wonderful explanation and provided study scriptures. I want to see youe explanation to a thought I'm having about 'consecration.' Consecration by Webster's defintion: 'dedicate to a sacred purpose or service.' My thought, Once we are justified through faith, we are sanctified, or set apart. Until this 'setting apart'; Truly, we can't be as informed as we should about the Word of God. Even if we had sat through numerous sermons, or studied for relentless hours; If we have never had that 'Born Again' experience; Would not our understanding come from a 'Humanistic Approach', and not the Holy Spirit's guidance? After true regeneration, we now began our proper journey as we move more towards a 'consecrated life'. So now, would not our forward progression be a sense of being 'consecrated' and not 'Santified'? I can only pray this is understandable, with clarity. If not, please do your best to understand the direction I am being led on this concerned topic. This is a topic I find of disagreement in some of my Bible study groups, and would like to get some feedback from this forum so I may share with them. May the Lord be with you, John Ryals |

72 | having sex if engaged biblical stance? | 1 Cor 6:16 | John Ryals | 228076
Your reference scripture,[1st Cor. 10:8] I believe was a warning against immorality. Not just to apply this verse only, to premarital sex; but to apply it against all immoralities. To me the context was verses 1-11 as Paul was speaking to Israel, and my cross reference is [Numbers 25:1-9]. A comment about pre-marital sex: We give our carnal desires head lead by our indulgences, and therefore I feel we should observe and check them when they first rise up: because once they prevail from opportunities we open ourselves to, they begin to sway us, and we know not whither they will carry us. Galatians 5:9; "A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump." As I give thought to this scripture, I must examine myself and reveal anything, which could taint the 'whole lump' of Chistianity by one of my erroneous principles, or; I could infect the 'Christian Society' by these principles. I should give great concern as to the Life style of Christ and be mindful not to yeild to one single instance, and if I do, I should endeavor by all proper methods to purge out the infection, by repenting and not doing them again. By properly repenting and putting my faith in the Cross of Christ It will give the Holy Spirit the latitude to do his work and guide me in the correct principles. May the Holy Spirit lead, and guide you in all the principles of your relationship. May God Bless You! John Ryals |

73 | What does 'this' refer to | 1 Cor 7:6 | John Ryals | 230344
The Holy Spirit, through Paul, leaves the details of lives, whether celibate or married, to the individual consciences, though with large hearted wisdom and charity. He would emancipate them from human and unauthorized restrictions. In regards to V7, I don't believe this is said by Paul to denigrate marriage as some have claimed; in effect, I believe he is saying that he wished for the Coming Resurrection, when all would be as he was then. In my opinion the 'this' in V7 is the context Paul was speaking of about 'Married Christians' which goes back to V3-V6. Happy Thanksgiving and may God grant you the desires of your heart! 74 | How can the Son at the end be subject be | 1 Cor 15:28 | John Ryals | 228449
God the Father has put all things under the Feet of Jesus. This, in reference of the fact that "all things" do not include God the Father being made subject to Jesus. Verse 28 implies that in Paul's day, this total dominion had not yet been exercised and, in fact, has not done so unto this present hour; but the time will come when it definiely shall be, which will be at the close of the Millennial Reign. 75 | How can the Son at the end be subject be | 1 Cor 15:28 | John Ryals | 228556
Let us all know and understand: there is no "Redeemer" but the Lord! There is One God, manifest in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, Who are all One in essence [ I Cor. 8:6; Eph. 4:3-6; Heb. 1:8; John 1:1-2; 20;28; Acts 5;3-4; II John 3; Acts 2;34]. Also, look at my entry further down in this thread. I pray this is suffice for your question. God Bless, John Ryals |

76 | Is the Holy Spirit Leading? | Gal 5:16 | John Ryals | 227924
Genesis 8:8-13; In verse 11, "Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other." It is my believe that Lot didn't seem to realize, as most don't realize, that he was blessed by God because of Abraham. He should have said to Abraham, that whatever the Patriarch desired, that's what he desired. But instead, he chose for himself, and as the future will prove, chose very unwisely. When he separated himself from Abraham, he separated himself from the Blessing. My question: How do we know within ourselves that it is truly the Holy Spirit leading us, and not a mask of the flesh saying it's the Holy Spirit, which takes us in the wrong direction? My thoughts are this, What if I have a ladder against a wall and I'm climbing to the top and when I get there I find out I've got the ladder against the wrong wall? Are there any reference books or any reference scriptures that may help me determine the answer? Thanks John Ryals |

79 | Is the Holy Spirit Leading? | Gal 5:16 | John Ryals | 227951
Hi DocTrinsograce, Sir it's my understanding that(Hebrews 5:11-14), the writer of Hebrews was speaking to Jewish Christians who were slow and sluggish regarding their understanding of the Teachings of New Testament Truth. This made it difficult to teach them. Verse 12 refers to the fact that they had been saved long enough to be mature in the Word by now. ("you have need that one teach you again which is the first principles of the Oracles of God",) pertains to the Old testament and what it really meant, instead of the way it was being erroneously taken by these Christian Jews. I understand and know the benefits of what Jesus did at the Cross, I just want to know if there are any reference books on 'truly knowing' if it is the Holy Spirit leading or if it is my flesh leading with a disguise by me of the Holy Spirit? I remain very mindful moment to moment that there are no private interpretations of the Word of God. 2nd Peter 1:20--- "Knowing this first, that no Prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation." 21---"For the Prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." The ending entry of this verse, "but Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit," proclaims the manner in which the Word of God was written and thereby, given unto us.) Still need info! John Ryals |

80 | Is the Holy Spirit Leading? | Gal 5:16 | John Ryals | 227969
I didn't finish taking the 'Litmus Test' after reading the first part of number one, "The first evidence is sorrow over sin...," As using the 'historical-grammatico' approach I immediately had thoughts of, (Matthew 5:4) "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted." I feel I came to a realization of the severity of sin and how it infected me and the whole world years ago,and this brought a type of mourning which God will comfort me from if I remain with my Faith in the finished work of the Cross. Let me see if I can clear this up, I agree with you on the status of the publican because it brought instant results because theplea was based upon the Atonement and not on self-righteousness; every afternoon at 3 o'clock the evening Lamb was offered up as a propitiation for the sins of that day; the Publican pleaded forgiveness and acceptance because of the merit of that atoning blood; it foreshadowed the Atoning Death of the Lamb of God, Who was him self the Propitiation, i.e., the "Mercy Seat". In verse 14 I feel the Publican was declared a righteous man; there are no degrees in Justification; one is either justified totally, or not justified at all! The Pharisee who depended on his self-righteousness was not justified and, therefore, lost! I pray I have not portrayed self righteousness in our online relationship, if I have I apologize in with all sincerity, but; I am trying to find some reference books other than the Bible for a friend who is trying to understand what the Cross is about. So iif you can help I would truly appreciate the assistance. Thank You/May God Bless You John Ryals |
