In verse 27, they were speechless, In effect, "Who is this Man," referring to the possibilty, and their thinking, that He might be the Messiah. 65 | women preachers | 1 Tim 2:12 | John Ryals | 228034
It is true that 1st Timothy 2:12 states, "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." In verse 11 of the same book and chapter, "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection," it's meaning is made clear in I Cor. 14:34-35; and Eph. 5:22-25. If I'm understanding correctly, my reference scripture in 1st Corinthians is where Paul is trying to set some guidelines for the Church at Corinth. In the Churches at that time, men and women did not normally sit together, but rather on opposite sides of the room; the women would call out to their husbands asking for an explanation concerning certain things, which was interrupting the Services. The reference scripture of Ephesians 5:22-25 is the Holy Spirit, through the Apostle, relating to the spiritual leadership of the family. However, the submision is to be to Christ as Lord and Master, and not to the husband. If the husband's supremacy had been in view, it would have been expressed in a different manner, so say the Greek scholars. If the wife properly submits to the Lord, she will properly submit to her husband as it regards spiritual leadership, that is if he knows the Lord. If he doesn't know the Lord, such submission cannot be tendered. To further address 1st Timothy 2:12, if a male teacher is more qualified, he should take the lead, but what if there are no male teachers? To finish my note entry, I feel we must take into consideration of a scripture that is in the Book of Joel. Joel 2:28 states, "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions." This Promise of the Spirit is placed out of chronological order in order to ccouple it with the material blessings of, [Joel 2:21-27] and to provide for acts, Chpt 2. In fact, the phrase, "And it shall come to pass afterward, tahr I will pour out My Spiritupon all flesh," even though beginning on the Day of Penecost, still, will not be totally fulfilled until the coming Kingdom Age. "And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy," refers to the Gifts of the spirit, which accompanied the outpouring of the Holy spirit duirin the time of the Early Church, and which continues to this hour [I Cor. 12:7-11; however, and as stated, this will have a complete fulfillment in the coming Kingdom Age. As well, the outpouring of the Spirit is for all --- old and young, men and women. Even the Evangelist Philip had four daughters which Prophesied during the time of Paul, [Acts 21:8-9]; Is there not the idea that they were Evangelists exactly as their father, which strikes down the idea that women cannot preach? 71 | God will not put more than we can bear | 1 Corinthians | John Ryals | 227997
1st Corinthians 10:13; 13) "There has no temptation taken you but such is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it." This verse refers to the limitations God has placed upon Satan respecting that which he can or cannot do; as we have God's promise; all temptation is overcome by our Faith remaining constant in Christ and the Cross , which gives the Power of the Holy Spirit to help us, [Rom. 8:2] in the "way of escape" is always the Cross. [Eph. 6:10-18] I hope this is what you are searching for, if not get back with me and we will do our best with the help of the Holy Spirit. I pray to the Heavenly Father that you come through your surgery with no complications and a have quick recovery. Amen. May God Bless You John Ryals |

74 | Does the Bible refer to Peter being hung | NT general | John Ryals | 227994
The Bible only mentions the deaths of two apostles, James who was put to death by Herod Agrippa I in 44 AD and Judas Iscariot who committed suicide shortly after the death of Christ. The details of the deaths of three of the apostles, (John, the Beloved, Bartholomew and Simon the Canaanite) are not known at all, either by tradition or early historians. The deaths of the other seven apostles are known by tradition or the writings of early Christian historians. According to traditions and the Bible, eight of the Apostles died as Martyrs. At least two of the Apostle's Peter and Andrew were crucified. Simon surnamed Peter died 33-34 years after the death of Christ. According to Smith's Bible Dictionary there is "satisfactory evidence that he and Paul were the founders of the Church at Rome, and died in that city. The time and manner of the apostle's martyrdom are less certain. According to the early writers, he died at or about the same time with Paul, and in the Neronian persecution, AD 67,68. All agree that he was crucified. origin says that Peter felt himself to be unworthy to be put to death in the same manner as his Master, and was therefore at his request, crucified with his head down. I pray this information is useful to the furtherance of the Gospel for Christ. May God Bless You |

75 | Can just anyone be a preacher? | Mark 16:15 | John Ryals | 227988
Ephesians 4:7-11 7) But unto every one of us is given Grave according to the measure of the Gift of Christ. 8) Wherefore He said, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave Gifts unto men. 9) (Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10) He Who descended is the same also Who ascended up far above all Heavens, that He might fill all things.) 11) And He gave some, Apostles; and some, Prophets; and some, Evangelists; and some, Pastors and Teachers. Our Lord does the calling. Verse 11 has reference to the fact that not all who are called to be Ministers will be called to be Apostles; this applies to the other designations as well; "Apostles" serve as the de facto leaders of the Church and do so through the particular Message given them by the Lord for the Church. "Prophets" stand in the 'Office of the Prophet', thereby, foretelling and forthtelling, the "Evangelists' are to gather the harvest, the "Pastors" are the 'Shepherds', and the "Teachers" are those with a special Ministry to teach the word to the Body of Christ; "Apostles" can and do function in all of the callings. I pray my opening statement,"Our Lord does the calling," helps with your question. May God Bless You! |

77 | believing and being born again? | John 3:16 | John Ryals | 227983
Not an argument note just to expound on your final question: "Is more than belief required for one to be saved?" James 2:19 states; You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble. For an explanation of why I shared this with you, there are millions that hold a type of Faith which there is no saving Grace. Simply believing there is a God says no more than what demons believe. "Proper Faith' will accept the Lord as one's Savior. Again, this is not an argumentive statement, just some thoughts to expound on. May God bless You John Ryals |

78 | Is my friend still going to heaven? | John 3:16 | John Ryals | 227979
Matthew 6:24 states, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon," (This is flat out, stated as, an impossibility; it is total devotion to God, or ultimately it will be total devotion to the world."Mammon" is derived from the Babylonian "Mimma," which means "anything at all"). May I make another suggestion, You, knowing the provided scripture, and it's exegesis, If you can just get your friend in an enviroment of believers, then just let the Holy Spirit do his work and you can just continue to show 'Love.' Thereby fullfilling the 'Law of Christ'. May God Bless You, John Ryals |

79 | Is the Holy Spirit Leading? | Gal 5:16 | John Ryals | 227969
I didn't finish taking the 'Litmus Test' after reading the first part of number one, "The first evidence is sorrow over sin...," As using the 'historical-grammatico' approach I immediately had thoughts of, (Matthew 5:4) "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted." I feel I came to a realization of the severity of sin and how it infected me and the whole world years ago,and this brought a type of mourning which God will comfort me from if I remain with my Faith in the finished work of the Cross. Let me see if I can clear this up, I agree with you on the status of the publican because it brought instant results because theplea was based upon the Atonement and not on self-righteousness; every afternoon at 3 o'clock the evening Lamb was offered up as a propitiation for the sins of that day; the Publican pleaded forgiveness and acceptance because of the merit of that atoning blood; it foreshadowed the Atoning Death of the Lamb of God, Who was him self the Propitiation, i.e., the "Mercy Seat". In verse 14 I feel the Publican was declared a righteous man; there are no degrees in Justification; one is either justified totally, or not justified at all! The Pharisee who depended on his self-righteousness was not justified and, therefore, lost! I pray I have not portrayed self righteousness in our online relationship, if I have I apologize in with all sincerity, but; I am trying to find some reference books other than the Bible for a friend who is trying to understand what the Cross is about. So iif you can help I would truly appreciate the assistance. Thank You/May God Bless You John Ryals |

80 | Jesus was born in 4 bc | Luke 2:7 | John Ryals | 227967
The scripture I chose only supports the birth of Jesus. As to the answering of your question: B.C. stands for 'Before Christ', and A. D. means 'Anno Domini' which is a Latin Translation which means, 'in the year of our Lord.'
