61 | should a catholic marraige be sanctified | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 131631
I was just cruising the Forum as I do upon occasion and noticed your Post. In it, you seem to imply that not everyone in the Catholic faith believes everything alike. Please don't take offense as I ask these questions purely from a perspective of curiosity. 1) Do you believe in the doctrine of the Catholic Pope being infallible or equal to God Himself as the Catholics declared in 1870? In other words, can the Pope still issue edicts equal to the Bible Itself in power and authority to christians? 2) Do you practice the custom of praying to or through the virgin mother Mary, mother of Jesus? Or any other saints from the past, including those cited in the Bible, i.e. Apostles? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

64 | Denounce militant Islam? | Matt 5:44 | Country Girl | 131602
I can't believe I read the whole thing. Although there's a slight urge in me as a fellow human to agree with you, there's a Holy Spirit within me endorsing what my conscience is whispering. Yes, we see great cruelty and very horrible actions from the militant Islam but then so did those who lived through the Spanish Inquisitions and the Crusades before that. That's one of the world's most recurring themes throughout its history, the struggle depicted between good and evil but even so with all that as a given fact, we're still told by Christ, the Ruler of this world to "forgive our enemies and bless them that persecute us." I agree with you, sometimes this is VERY tough to do, especially with a genuine heart of love and NOT feel what our gut instinct tells us to feel. We must repeat over and over to ourselves that we must hate the sin but love the sinner, as does our God above. I was brought up in a military family and have been myself involved in supporting the military war machine in the overseas theatre and I do support our country's attempt to right the wrongs in the Middle East and try to get those folks started toward a more sane form of self government but we also should realize Christ's way is the best way. You post comes dangerously close to inciting a riot so I would remind you and all other readers only the "peacemakers will be called sons of God," Matt 5. After all, if we retaliate as you're suggesting, we're no better than the evil they are perpetrating on the world. Now, as a practical matter, I do hope and pray that countries across the globe will unite with us and try to form a united front and literally ostracize this terrorism element and try them for the crimes and carry out the proper punishment as determined by the courts. But this must be done with a focus on some semblence of justice instead of vengence. That's the only way, we could hope to get God's blessing on our actions. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

65 | Traditional answer? | 1 Pet 4:6 | Country Girl | 131576
Since this verse from Peter seems to be talking about living people who are dead in their sins, do you have any other scriptures to support this other view about "the outer darkness or prison?" Does the website provide any such scriptures in support? Sorry, I didn't take the time to check out the site myself. Might do so later on. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

66 | Name of first Chirstinas 0-33 AD? | Acts 11:26 | Country Girl | 131569
If we accept the years as you cite as being accurate, then Christ's followers were probably following John the Baptist before Jesus made his debut with the conversion of water to wine. Then upon the followers graduating from John the Baptist's lead to Jesus, they were called Jesus' disciples. It might also be instructive to remember that all of the NT, including the Gospels were written decades after Jesus died and was resurrected so they were written from a historical perspective and for our benefit. Hope this helps and Blessings to you. Country Girl |

67 | Two Natures of Christ | Phil 2:8 | Country Girl | 131567
So the sum total testamonies of Jesus from the NT are a confirmation that He was both 100 per cent God AND 100 per cent Human. The One and Only Person absolutely Unique in this world to have lived such a life. And the most wonderful thing about all this is that He came here with the single purpose of dying for all of us as the Perfect Sacrifice and to set up His church, His bride. Praise the Lord. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

68 | Springs? Source of life? | Prov 4:23 | Country Girl | 131221
I would have to say that the following scripture is a good start. Rom 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. Rom 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Rom 12:3 For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. We also gain some insight from the words of Jesus Matt 15:11 "It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man." Matt 15:12 Then the disciples *came and *said to Him, "Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this statement?" Matt 15:13 But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted. Matt 15:14 "Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. And if a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit." Matt 15:15 Peter said to Him, "Explain the parable to us." Matt 15:16 Jesus said, "Are you still lacking in understanding also? Matt 15:17 "Do you not understand that everything that goes into the mouth passes into the stomach, and is eliminated? Matt 15:18 "But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. Matt 15:19 "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. Matt 15:20 "These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man." Blessings to you. Country Girl |

I'm kinda busy with school homework (two courses) and a full-time job. I appreciate your patience and responses. You surely are a wealth of knowledge. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

71 | Difference between christian/ disciple | Acts 11:26 | Country Girl | 131009
I don't know if there is a specific verse that deals with your specific question but I would offer the following scripture Luke 10:38 Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. Luke 10:39 She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord's feet, listening to His word. Luke 10:40 But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me." Luke 10:41 But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; Luke 10:42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her." Notice that Jesus does NOT condemn or criticize Martha for tending to these duties of hers but he does place the proper emphasis on Mary's preference for listening and this in spite of the Jewish custom of putting all women in a servant position of life. Also your concerns identified above don't seem to violate Bible or Jesus' teachings, I do think they don't warrant but a minute of our time as they are strickly the administrative details. God the Creator of the Universe and His Son, Savior of the whole world "have bigger fish to fry" and higher priorities. Hope this helps. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

72 | single men looking | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 130990
I can only share with you my experience with my son. You see, porno was one of his problems as a teen, many years ago and I guess it still is because to this day as a grown man, married for several years, he still goes to weekly meetings. In these meetings, he meets other people, men and women who are all "confessed sex addicts." That is, they've got to get their "sexual fix" almost every day or more when they're actually hooked, just like alcoholics. Now, I'm proud to say, our son has been "on the wagon" now for almost a year and is now leading, promoting and teaching others to follow the example given them. Sex addiction is a very real and growing problem throughout this country, just ask any counselor in the larger cities and they'll give you the latest scoop about what I'm telling you. At its worst, this addiction can lead to rape and murder because its like a gigantic and very stong whirlpool. One doesn't realize the danger until it's too late. Don't allow your boyfriend to get sucked in. Instead I'd advise him to find some christian young men with whom he can confide his fears and weaknesses, someone he can trust to keep it confidential and then will pray for him and best of all, check on him and encourage to stay pure in mind. Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things. 9The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. I do sincerely hope this helps you to resolve to be strong and faithful to our Lord and Master. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

73 | The Great Difference | Zech 10:2 | Country Girl | 130987
Great words. So true, we ourselves don't have a prayer of measuring up on Judgment Day without God's Grace to help us, here and now, every day, every hour of our lives. Just one question. I love to find out about names. Did the author pronounce his last name with the "p" in the first or second syllable? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

74 | Are Jesus and God 2 or 1? | John 8:17 | Country Girl | 130749
Provided for context: John 10:24 The Jews then gathered around Him, and were saying to Him, "How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly." John 10:25 Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father's name, these testify of Me. John 10:26 "But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. John 10:27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; John 10:28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. John 10:29 "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. John 10:30 "I and the Father are one." It seems pretty obvious (to me at least) that Jesus was saying that He and Father are one Being. That is they think alike. Their priorities are one and in perfect harmony. Don't get me wrong, there are just a few things that even Jesus didn't know, at least not then. Mk 13:32 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. Thus we see in this some clear distinctions among the three that make up this Godhead but for us humans in our finite understanding, God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit are all one. I hope this is clear. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

75 | What does the bible say about purgatory? | Matt 12:32 | Country Girl | 130748
The Bible doesn't say anything at all about purgatory nor does it portray anything about God's allowing mankind a second opportunity to attain Heaven after leaving this life here on earth. But instead we're given clear guidance from Heb 9:26 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. 27And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, 28so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. Paul's (assumed author) words here are very clear and straight forward in contrast to the figurative language as reflected in some other difficult passages. So we should always prefer God's clear Words whenever possible. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

76 | Difference between christian/ disciple | Acts 11:26 | Country Girl | 130400
I would have to disagree with your statement. It seems clear the prophecy below is predicting the very thing you're contesting. Is 62:2 The nations will see your righteousness, And all kings your glory; And you will be called by a new name Which the mouth of the LORD will designate. What other interpretation would you give this prophecy and its fulfillment in Acts 11? I don't think you're going to find very many on the Forum that will agree with you but we'll listen to what you got to say. Let me ask you one more question. How else would you maximize the Glory and Honor that our Lord deserves as evidenced by His Father throughout the NT? Seems a glorious thing for us as His children to literally have CHRISTian in our designated name. And surely, you've already heard about the "ian" for the phrase "I am nothing" without Christ. Perfect fit, wouldn't you agree? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

78 | More evidence in the rulership case. | 1 Sam 8:7 | Country Girl | 130371
You seem to be persuaded that the end of the world is upon us like maybe tomorrow. I would remind you that the Lord predicted that He would come at an hour when none of us expected it, "like a thief in the night." Also we have previous examples of God's destruction on a wide scale. When he destroyed the world with the flood, He waited until there was so much evil thinking and sinful activity that only Noah and his 7 family members were saved. When God forecasted the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, He negotiated with Abraham all the way down to a mere 10 people. Yet only Lot and his immediate family of 3 made it out of the city alive and of course Lot's wife didn't last long afterwards. What we can conclude from all this? God is incredibly kind and gracious, patient almost to infinity. So I wouldn't fold up shop quite yet. The most important thing for christians to do in this age of questioning and national wavering in belief in God is to stand fast and shine His light round about us. Give comfort to those that need it and encourage everyone "to remain faithful til death," Rev 2:10. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

79 | One God, One Jesus Christ | 1 Cor 8:5 | Country Girl | 130369
Your answer seems to be carefully crafted. I'd like to make certain. Have you been baptized as described in Matt 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Matt 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Matt 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Also Jn 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. I'm not getting the strong confirmation that you understand how critical and totally important it is to recognize that Jesus Christ is every bit as important and powerful throughout this whole process of Salvation and getting to Heaven as God, His Father. If we can't get that confirmation from you, then there's not much more we can do for you. However, go in peace with God's blessings. Country Girl PS: Yes, I was baptized at 13, for the remission of my sins, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. |
