62 | Sin | Rom 5:1 | Aliennow | 162304
I have been studying Ezekiel 18 and have become confused about sin. Are we not born sinful in nature because of the original sin of Adam and Eve? If I understand Ezekiel 18 right we are no longer being held accountable for original sin or sins passed on through the generations, but only those sins we commit. |

64 | Numbers 25 | Rom 13:1 | Aliennow | 159092
I think it's in Numbers 25 where the Israelites have engaged in practices forbidden them and God states how to get things back on track, including some deaths and punishments. But the leadership doesn't follow through fully. And God (I'm sorry, G_d) sends them a persuasive rash or something. Their miserable but won't change. They keep sinning up a storm, like most of us would. Then this one fella takes matters into his own hand and kills two obvious offenders right in front of everybody. And G_d not only doesn't get ticked at him for sticking a spear through the chief's son and the chief's son's girlfriend, but instead rewards the guy and his lineage forever with certain blessings because he made it happen, what G_d told the chiefs to do. Okay, so, it wouldn't have been rewarded for somebody to get up and just start killing somebody for no good reason. But punishment on G_d's terms WAS alright, and then some. Does it make sense in any way to use something like Numbers 25 as an example to try to explain the idea that we as individuals, as citizens must act one way toward one another that is, lawfully, and not engage in law breaking, like murder for instance, but our governing establishments, like police or the justice system, have the right and duty to uphold safety and uphold rules and regulations whereby if someone willfully breaks them, like goes out and murders somebody then the justice system, the governing establishment, has the right to punish them and if it's the death penalty it's killing but not murder? Do you know what I mean? |

65 | gods purpose for nonbelievers | 1 Corinthians | Aliennow | 158970
We are all created by God and in His image with a purpose for living. To read about Spiritual gifts go to 1 Corinthians chapter 17. 1 Corinthians 17: 1- 3 "Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit." May I ask why you consider yourself a non-believer? |

68 | Prophecy of Christ or Not? | Gal 3:8 | Aliennow | 159081
Genesis 12:3 "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." When God called him, Abraham moved out in faith from Ur to Haran and finally to Canaan. God then established His covenant with him. He would found a great Nation that would be blessed, but other Nations will also be blessed through His descendants. Israel is the Nation that came from Abraham and through his family tree Christ was born to save humanity. Could you be specific and show me how you can read Jesus into the short text of Genesis 12:3. I would appreciate the explanation. Is Genensis 12:3 a direct reference to Israel or does it have some prophecy about Jesus? |

69 | WHAT IS TRUTH? | Eph 4:15 | Aliennow | 160437
I am not sure that all Christians are afraid to tell the truth about sin, but was wondering if you meant to other people or to God? Truth and Love means: Proverbs 12:17-19 "A truthful witness gives honest testimony, but a false witness tells lies. Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment. Matthew 22:38-40 "This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." |

70 | How do you explain the mystery? | Phil 2:8 | Aliennow | 159730
I like to think of it as three different key rings. Separated they have the same purpose they are still key rings. Together they have the same purpose they are key rings.

Dear He, God will close doors that He does not want us to go through and He will open other doors that will guide you down the path he has for you. Always be in prayer and Bible study, but also spend quiet time with God where He can speak to you. |

75 | What are the things? | Heb 6:9 | Aliennow | 160008
Dear Momma Every part of the truth and will of God should be set before all who profess the gospel, and be urged on their hearts and consciences. We should not be always speaking about outward things; these have their places and use, but often take up too much attention and time, which might be better employed. The humbled sinner who pleads guilty, and cries for mercy, can have no ground from this passage to be discouraged, whatever his conscience may accuse him of. Nor does it prove that anyone who is made a new creature in Christ, ever becomes a final apostate from him. The apostle is not speaking of the falling away of mere professors, never convinced or influenced by the gospel. Such have nothing to fall away from, but an empty name, or hypocritical profession. Neither is he speaking of partial declinings or backslidings. Nor are such sins meant, as Christians fall into through the strength of temptations, or the power of some worldly or fleshly lust. But the falling away here mentioned, is an open and avowed renouncing of Christ, from enmity of heart against him, his cause, and people, by men approving in their minds the deeds of his murderers, and all this after they have received the knowledge of the truth, and tasted some of its comforts. Of these it is said, that it is impossible to renew them again unto repentance. Not because the blood of Christ is not sufficient to obtain pardon for this sin; but this sin, in its very nature, is opposite to repentance and every thing that leads to it. If those who through mistaken views of this passage, as well as of their own case, fear that there is no mercy for them, would attend to the account given of the nature of this sin, that it is a total and a willing renouncing of Christ, and his cause, and joining with his enemies, it would relieve them from wrong fears. We should ourselves beware, and caution others, of every approach near to a gulf so awful as apostacy; yet in doing this we should keep close to the word of God, and be careful not to wound and terrify the weak, or discourage the fallen and penitent. Believers not only taste of the word of God, but they drink it in. And this fruitful field or garden receives the blessing. But the merely nominal Christian, continuing unfruitful under the means of grace, or producing nothing but deceit and selfishness, was near the awful state above described; and everlasting misery was the end reserved for him. Let us watch with humble caution and prayer as to ourselves. (Heb 6:9) |

That is awesome! Great Testimony! My religion believes in all of the above! It is great to hear that somebody else looks to God to see what they can do for Him, instead of what He can do for us today. Blessings, Aliennow |

78 | What are the things? | Heb 6:9 | Aliennow | 160229
I can clearly see that you have a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ! Actually I do consider myself non-denominational if that is what you mean by "religion". I agree religions are flawed and probably could not fit into the truths you have posted. Thanks for asking about my salvation. Five years ago I suffered from panic and anxiety, and although I was raised in a Christian home, I did not have a personal relationship with Christ. I will never forget the night that the Holy Spirit entered my body and I was re-born! My salvation is secure and I know where I am going when I die. Blessings, Aliennow (I wonder if my handle has anything to do with what people think of me?) |

79 | What are the things? | Heb 6:9 | Aliennow | 160322
Everyday is for me and I pray for you. I have been posting for what 2 weeks now and have met with alot of criticism. Not sure I have been given proper time to learn the forum before I was persecuted, but hey that is okay. It is not me who has tough skin, but the Holy Spirit within me that speaks for me. In other forums quoting scripture has proved to be infertile, because so many people interpret in different ways or they hen peck the scripture and take it out of context to make a point. Anyway thanks for the advice. In Christ's Love, Aliennow |

80 | What are the things? | Heb 6:9 | Aliennow | 160323
Yes, I have been given my "green card"! It is awesome to live life daily knowing that if it ends now I will be with Christ! I did take your comment more harshly then I should have. I thought a little more grace would be extended to those who are new to the forum, but felt instantly persecuted. I now see that you were only trying to help, so thanks! In Christ's Love, Aliennow |
