63 | Threatens to leave if believer attends | 1 Cor 7:15 | Sir Pent | 117722
My minimally educated guess........................................... Hi again Huron, Based on the very limited information you have given, I would say that the believer should indeed go to church. God commands us to not stop meeting together with other believers (Hebrews 10:23-25), and disobeying God will hurt the believer's relationship with God. The believer's relationship with God is even more important than the believer's relationship with their spouse. I'm also glad that you like the idea of talking with a counselor, which should be able to give a more complete answer. |

Clarification......................................................... Hi again Hank, You asked, "Would I want Aniset emailing a member of my family to engage in private Bible Study?" The answer is no. I ask, "Does the forum have any rules that prevent that from happenning?" The answer is no. I ask, "Does the forum have any rules that prohibit members from posting that Jesus is not God?" The answer is yes. I ask, "Does it appear that Aniset posted that Jesus is not God, but only a creation of God?" The answer is yes, in post number 117322. You asked, "What should be the consequences (for post 117322)?" My answer is that Aniset should be asked to clarify his post 117322 and explain if he really means that Jesus is not God. If Aniset confirms our suspicions, then he should be banned from the forum for breaking forum rules. |

My answer............................................................. Good question Colin, You asked what I believe an "orthodox version" of Christianity was. I would consider that to be any group that believes in the statements contained in the "Apostle's Creed". |

My answer............................................................. Hi again Colin, You asked me a specific question, and I'll give you a specific answer. According to the current forum guidelines, it is less permissible to write a post that says "Jesus and Satan were brothers" than it is for a cult member to promote email correspondence. This is simply because there is a rule against making posts denying the deity of Jesus Christ, and there is no rule regarding the encouragement of email correspondence. I agree that the second could be more dangerous, however, it does not break any current forum rules. |

68 | Where does it say two were in the field | Matt 24:40 | Sir Pent | 117715
Personal Note......................................................... Emmy and Hank, I am glad to hear that you are involved in a small group Bible Study (as long as the "small group" isn't just the two of you). It is very important for Christians to worship God not only as individuals but also in a corporate group. God designed us to be social beings, and desires for us to fellowship with other believers. He uses this to challenge us (Proverbs 27:17), and it is even a command (Hebrews 10:23-25). I would encourage you both to find a local church where you will able to do these things on a regular basis. |

Personal Note................................................ Hello Hank, I understand that my views on Aniset are of limited value to you considering I have not read all of his posts. However, this discussion that we are having started with this thread in particular, and in this thread, you accused Aniset of making "inroads of cultism", and told him to cease immediately. I don't have to read every post he has written to be able to respond to that accusation. I only need to read the post that you are accusing him about, and I did not see any statements that went against orthodox Christian belief in that particular post. You also said that I had written "sharp criticism" of others on the forum. I'm not sure which statements you are referring to, but I have tried to not be offensive to you or anyone else. Please read my post 117198 again, knowing that my tone of voice is not in the least angry or antagonistic, but simply trying to reason together. As for why we seem to keep butting heads, it appears that there is simply a disconnect between the attitude that I write my posts in and the attitude that comes through to you when you read them. It also seems that you think that I only state opinions and do not back them up with any facts. Do I understand you correctly? You finished by saying that you did not want this to turn into a series of arrows, but wanted to come to understanding and resolution. I couldn't agree with you more on that point. I am very thankful for all the hard work that you put into this forum (and have for years), and regret deeply that you seem to be angry with me at this time. |

71 | Where does it say two were in the field | Matt 24:40 | Sir Pent | 117328
Personal Note................................................ Hello Henry and Emmy, By saying that you are not affiliated with any religious organization, do you mean that you do not meet regularly with any particular group of believers, or that you're just not an offical memeber of any particular group? |

72 | who was Jesus | Matt 16:15 | Sir Pent | 117327
A clarification.............................................. Most of Aniset's post agrees with orthodox Christianity. However, it is not biblical that Jesus was "created" by God. Jesus was God, and therefore always existed and was never "created". Lordman11, please be aware that Aniset is a follower of a group called the Jehovah's Witnesses, which are considered to be a cult by almost all Christians (including those on this forum). |

My answer.................................................. Hi Colin, Thanks for your response and hypothetical :) situation. Your first question was how would I feel if a muslim man tried to get my daughter to study scripture with him by talking to her outside my church. My answer is that I would feel disturbed. Your second question was "what would you do"? I would talk to my daughter about the specific encounter and tell her that the man did not believe in the same God that we Christians do. I would say that it would therefore not be a good idea for her to study with him. The parallel to the current forum situation is clear. I think you are right to be disturbed that Aniset tried to convince Classy47 to study with him over email. I just think that the appropriate response is to tell Classy47 that Aniset is a member of a cult and to beware of his teaching. That should be sufficient based on current forum guidelines. Do you agree? |

75 | Threatens to leave if believer attends | 1 Cor 7:15 | Sir Pent | 117280
Still need more information.......................................... Hello Huron, You still have not said whether you are in a country where the believer's church attendance could threaten the life of the unbelieving spouse. Assuming that is not the case, it still doesn't make sense that the unbeliever would threaten to leave. You said that they threaten to leave over issues of cooperation and communication. However, the believer could go to church by themself (not requiring cooperation), and not talk about it with the spouse (eliminating communication). So then what would be the problem? It seems like there is much more to this story than you are sharing. Is this "believer" you? I still think the best course of action is to talk to a local pastor, trusted friend, or counselor. |

76 | Where does it say two were in the field | Matt 24:40 | Sir Pent | 117273
Personal Note......................................................... Hi Emmy, In this post you quoted the "New World Translation" of the Bible, which is to my knowledge only used by Jehovah's Witnesses. I would request that you clarify your background by updating your user profile. If you are a follower of the Jehovah's Witness group (considered to be a cult by almost all Christians including those on this forum), then people deserve to be made aware of it. |

Personal Note......................................................... Hi Hank, Why is it that we seem to be butting heads so often lately? The post that you are responding to was addressed to three forum members. Two of them started their response to me with "Thanks...", but your response seemed to be angry with me. As for your comments, I fully admit that I have not read many of Aniset's posts. As you know I was away from the forum for a while, including the majority of the time that Aniset has been around. I see that he has 95 posts, and would prefer to not read them all as you requested. Perhaps you could point me to a specific few that you felt were the worst offenses. You asked whether I was trying to defend the Jehovah's Witness cult or Orthodox Christianity. I am always trying to defend an orthodox view of Christianity. I do believe that the Jehovah's Witness group is a cult and is therefore to be avoided. I am even glad that you, Kalos, and EdB are working to "expose and condemn cultism and other unbilical teachings". At the end, you said you "don't feel the need for me to tell you how to conduct yourself on this Forum". But as members of this forum, don't everyone have a right to defend a consistent application of forum guidelines? Specifically, members are banned from posting comments that deny the authority of the Bible, Christianity, or the deity of Christ. However they are not banned from believing those things. Therefore, to be consistent, it seems that Aniset would actually have to post something breaking those rules in order to be banned. |

Personal Note......................................................... Hi BradK, Thanks for your kind response. I'm glad that you liked my idea of having Aniset update his user profile. Thankfully he has agreed to do that, although it hasn't been done yet (the last time I checked). I agree that "to seek to induce someone to communicate directly with a known cult member" is a bad idea. Therefore, I will not be advising anyone to try to get answers to Biblical questions by e-mailing Aniset. At the same time, this forum does not require that people who participate BELIEVE in an orthodox version of Christianity. It does require that people cannot POST statements that oppose the authority of the Bible, Christianity, or the deity of Christ. Therefore, it seems that Aniset cannot be banned for not BELIEVING in the deity of Christ. However, he could be banned if he actually POSTS something that denies the deity of Christ. |

Personal Note......................................................... Hi Colin, As I look at the post 115810 that you directed me to, I do have some thoughts. Aniset stated many things, and they all appear to be true and in line with orthodox Christianity. However, he did not really answer the question being asked by Classy47. Instead, he said that he would be glad to help him through email and gave his address. His stated reason implied that there were too many verses and it would take too long to fully answer the question in the forum setting (which he could make a reasonable case for). Therefore, I see nothing in this specific post that would be cause for alarm. On the other hand, it does raise a "yellow flag" in that if Classy47 and Aniset corresponded further through email, then Aniset could lead Classy47 in the wrong direction without anyone on the forum being able to refute those ideas. However, isn't that the case with anyone? Colin, you seem to hold orthodox Christian beliefs to me from our limited contact so far, but couldn't you also lead someone astray via email after meeting them on the forum, and I'd never know? Can the forum be responsible for all of its member's personal emails? I guess those would be my first thoughts on that particular post. What are your thoughts? |

80 | Origin of God? | Heb 11:6 | Sir Pent | 117269
Personal Note......................................................... Hi Kerland, Since Aniset has not updated his user profile yet, please be advised that he is a follower of a group called the Jehovah's Witnesses. That group is considered to be a cult by almost all Christians, including those on this forum. His answer to you on this question appears to be in line with orthodox Christianity, but I just wanted you to know his background. |
