61 | More evidence in the rulership case. | 1 Sam 8:7 | Country Girl | 130371
You seem to be persuaded that the end of the world is upon us like maybe tomorrow. I would remind you that the Lord predicted that He would come at an hour when none of us expected it, "like a thief in the night." Also we have previous examples of God's destruction on a wide scale. When he destroyed the world with the flood, He waited until there was so much evil thinking and sinful activity that only Noah and his 7 family members were saved. When God forecasted the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, He negotiated with Abraham all the way down to a mere 10 people. Yet only Lot and his immediate family of 3 made it out of the city alive and of course Lot's wife didn't last long afterwards. What we can conclude from all this? God is incredibly kind and gracious, patient almost to infinity. So I wouldn't fold up shop quite yet. The most important thing for christians to do in this age of questioning and national wavering in belief in God is to stand fast and shine His light round about us. Give comfort to those that need it and encourage everyone "to remain faithful til death," Rev 2:10. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

62 | One God, One Jesus Christ | 1 Cor 8:5 | Country Girl | 130369
Your answer seems to be carefully crafted. I'd like to make certain. Have you been baptized as described in Matt 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Matt 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Matt 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Also Jn 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. I'm not getting the strong confirmation that you understand how critical and totally important it is to recognize that Jesus Christ is every bit as important and powerful throughout this whole process of Salvation and getting to Heaven as God, His Father. If we can't get that confirmation from you, then there's not much more we can do for you. However, go in peace with God's blessings. Country Girl PS: Yes, I was baptized at 13, for the remission of my sins, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. |

Sounds like a "win-win" to me. Now, have you been baptized for the remission of your sins, in accordance with Acts 2? Praise the Lord. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

So cutting to the bottom line: Do you actively and sincerely confess that Jesus IS indeed the only living and begotten Son of God Almighty, the one and only Savior of the World. Jesus Christ is the one single way we (you and the rest of the world) can be assured of going to Heaven. Without this confirmation or confession on your part, you're going to keep on running into a lot of flak and bad or negative response to your posts here on the Forum. We really CANNOT apologize for taking that stand as it's very clearly announced up front to ALL participants before registering to join the Forum. We do hope and pray that you can confess His Name as Lord and Master. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

66 | Importance of Inerrancy | Gal 3:16 | Country Girl | 130195
So do we not have Hebrew scholars on the Forum who could confirm for us that was exactly that to which God was referring when he made that promise and prophecy to Abraham. I'd like to think so. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

67 | Who is "he"? Why greater sin? | John 19:11 | Country Girl | 130151
Good point. I've never thought about this question to quite this depth. I'll have to study on this a while longer. Blessings to you all. Country Girl |

Although I quote the following as a reminder Phil 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Phil 4:9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. I must admit, I too have led a life of reading and watching some questionable material. So I guess we could all confess to one another we could all strive to improve how well we comply with God's instructions in this regard. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

69 | Keys to Spiritual Maturity | Phil 2:5 | Country Girl | 130006
I think this same attitude of Jesus was further demonstrated in His washing of His disciples' feet. He EVEN washed the feet of the one who betrayed Him. What a God; what a Man. Awesome God and He chose to die for you and me. Yes, indeed we got some "growing down" to do to come close to our full potential as christians, don't we? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

70 | Fruit vs. Works: the same or different? | Gal 5:22 | Country Girl | 129995
Thanks for pointing out my errors. I'm glad you understood the gist of my post. Yes, indeed Christ and His Father are the only sources for any and all good things in this life and in the next. In the final analysis, I see both our fruits of the Spirit and the works we attempt to accomplish in "the name of the Lord" all just boil down to being evidence of the Holy Spirit that lives within us. IF we see no such fruits or any such works going on in the life of a christian then we should approach that brother/sister and be kind and gentle but try to find out why they're not producing fruit and/or works for their Lord and Master. Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. 2 Timothy 2:24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, We must remember imitating Christ should be reflected as a whole lifestyle. If we couldn't be arrested in an anti-Christian country for the lifestyle we're living here at home, how can we expect God to let us into Heaven? If our lives are NOT proclaiming the name of Christ here on earth, why should His Father proclaim our name at the entrance of His Home for us? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

I just read your post and I think I can agree with ALL of what you stated so I'm a little confused. What was the controversial tidbit on which you anticipated I might not agree? Just curious. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

I'm not really sure after reading your post but I'd like to think you're NOT saying that animals have the very same kind of soul and thus the same image of God that was installed in man. Please confirm. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

73 | Just what is the purpose of baptism? | Heb 11:7 | Country Girl | 129922
I can only speak from experience. Our first son was about 10 or 11 years old when he first came to me and his father about wanting to baptized and become a christian. My spouse and I looked at each other and agreed to talk about this at length at home. When we got home, we started talking to Josh, asking him questions about christianity. What did he need to do to become one? Why was it important to him? Did he realize the costs or the sacrifice involved? He did answer some of the questions correctly as he had been going to Bible classes all his life. He didn't know them all in spite of being able to check his Bible, you know open book style testing. After several more weeks of questioning and much discussion between us as his parents, Josh decided that he wasn't quite ready. We agreed. However, about a year and half later, Josh was ready. He answered those questions, this time with conviction and showed us in the Bible where those answers were to be found. Last of all, we reminded him of the costs and the sacrifices he must make. The next day, Josh was baptized and did indeed become a christian at the dear sweet age of 13. Now, several years later our son, that same Josh got a tatoo on his arm, against the advice of us, his parents. He has also displayed other areas of his life in which he has a weakness but he continues to struggle with His Lord. He has finally given up smoking and is now moving on to some of the other areas of weakness in his life. As you can imagine, all parents, especially christian parents who have lived their whole life in a christian home like I have, watch our children live and grow in a physical world and strive to develop a real and genuine spiritual relationship with God, the Father of all. Believe me, I have some small tidbit of knowledge and experience about gradually getting closer and closer to God both before and after our point of salvation. I'm convinced God realizes this difficulty in our human condition. Paul discusses this difficulty in Romans 7 and if Paul at this time of his life had difficulty with the baptismal meausre of the Holy Spirit living within him, you can imagine how much more difficult it is for us, without that Aid. Blessings to you in posing a good question. Country Girl |

I didn't mean any offense so I'm glad you didn't register any. I guess the most repulsive things about the Catholic organization is the idea that the Pope is any more than just another mere man. Even elders and deacons in the Lord's church are just members of mankind like we all are and as such we ALL must obey God since He created us. Some of the other atrocities were indulgencies and similar actions that they perpetrated in the past. I guess I would have to plead ignorance on their current positions on these issues but they too must bring themselves into total submission unto the Lord in ALL aspects of Christianity. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

76 | Deacon/Pastor divorced before saved | NT general Archive 1 | Country Girl | 129747
I'm not a Baptist but we just call ourselves christians. As I mentioned, the congregations of which we've been part have various opinions about this subject. As I'm sure you know it's being debated so much, there's even some folks who go ahead in direct opposition to God's Word and install women as deacons or some as elders. But again, I must emphasize all of us must obey God's Word if we're going to please Him and go to Heaven. Only those who obey His commands will be comfortable in Heaven anyway. Those who insist on having their own way would be very uncomfortable praising and worshipping Gof for eternity. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

77 | What is God's major attribute? | Bible general Archive 2 | Country Girl | 129742
Thanks for the background information. It's good to get to know someone with whom you're discussing God's Word. Now let's get back to the subject at hand. What do you consider to be God's major attribute and why? What scriptures would you offer in support? Blessings to you. Country Girl |

79 | Pragmatism is of the World | Job 21:15 | Country Girl | 129738
Don't you see, I'm just trying to help people be as certain as they can be so we can KNOW we're going to Heaven as described in 1 John 5. There are at least as many scriptures in the Bible in support of my position as there are in favor of yours, i.e. John 12:48 and Rev 2:10. And again, when the scriptures offer two different positions on a particular topic, it's always safer to err on the side of caution. If we do everything in our power to obey God, then we can approach Judgment Day with confidence. Once we know God's commands, we can't tell Him on that Fateful Day tell Him we didn't know of those commands. And since we're all Bible students here on the Forum, we all do want to do ALL of what God wants us to do, right? Blessings to all of God's children and our attempts to obey Him. Country Girl |

80 | Mr. Perkins' Website/Chart | Rom 8:30 | Country Girl | 129729
You seemed to have skipped right over the most important portion of this topic. The main difference between the 82 citations of circumcision and the 87 citations of baptism is the fact that many, many of those verses with baptism are directly linked with salvation as the one I quoted from Galations. Let's try to stay focused on the subject, shall we? Baptism is one of the things we're commanded to do but the Bible is at the very least just as clearly in favor of putting baptism before salvation as those few verses that seem to leave it open for interpretation. So again it seems to be prudent and err on the side of caution. Since you brought up circumcision, think of it this way: Did a man converting over to the Jewish faith in the Bible become a Jew before or after he was circumcised? I guess you see my obvious comparison, the ritual of circumcision to the ritual of baptism. Seems rather powerful...come to think of it, I really appreciate your bringing circumcision into this discussion. Thanks. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
