61 | Flow out of WHOSE innermost being? | John 7:38 | retxar | 33489
Based on the context, and also if we allow scripture to interpret scripture (John 4:14), the one from who's "innermost being will flow rivers of living water" is no doubt referring to one who believes (John 7:37). retxar |

64 | Lord's Supper discussion. | Acts 2:42 | retxar | 29512
I know I have a lot of Baptist in me :), but I don't think Acts 2:42 is referring as much to the Lord's supper as it is to eating and fellow-shipping together. Either way, we do not have to go to church to observe the Lord's supper, we can observe it in our homes if we feel we want to observe it more often than what our church does. retxar |

65 | How many local churches have you tried? | Heb 11:8 | retxar | 29141
Greetings Brian, Until 2 years ago, I was an active member of the same loving fellowship all my life (I am now 46). I never ever did any "church hopping" or even church shopping. I was real comfortable in my padded pew and it fit my rear-end well! The reason I left was God's call, not satan's push. The Holy Spirit is a gentleman and always leads, never pushes. I gave the Heb 11:8 ref because that is a verse I can relate to. I obeyed God's call by going, but like Abraham, I was not sure where I was going, or what I was getting in to. I was satisfied where I was at. However, God wanted a soldier, not a tourist! He has honored my obedience, not according to my works, but according to His own purpose and grace (2Ti 1:9). He has given me both the desire and the equipping to do what He has called me to do. He has blessed me with an increased desire and knowledge of His Word. He has given me the ability I never had before to teach and preach His Word. This was only possible because God gave me the boldness to be able to step out of my comfort zone. I have always thought that all the church hopping people do is mostly following after the flesh, not the Spirit. I think that a person should stay where they are at unless God leads elsewhere. I once heard that finding a new church we can feel a part of and comfortable in, is kind of like buying a new pair of shoes. You need to give it a little time, and you might have to endure a few blisters! If the church is teaching the Word and their doctrinal statement lines up with your interpretation of the Word, stick it out unless God is giving you a CLEAR call to go somewhere else. Be an ACTIVE member, not a pew warmer (Jam 1:22-25). Conclusion: Follows God’s call, resist satan’s push. Be a soldier, not a tourist! retxar |

66 | why desire faith, healing, miracles, etc | 1 Cor 12:30 | retxar | 29010
I think it would be wise to accept any gift God desired to give us, and not turn our nose up at any, even tongues. To do otherwise is to say we know more than the Holy Spirit, as it is His determination, not ours (1Co 12:11). retxar |

67 | Worship and Bible Study: Can we do both? | NT general Archive 1 | retxar | 28803
I think that we can, both search the Bible deeply and be able to praise and worship. In order to worship in "Spirit and In Truth" I see no other way. I have seen extremes in both directions, as you, and I ain't a go'in back! Worship in Spirit and truth! retxar |

68 | What website to find Q and A for study | Bible general Archive 1 | retxar | 28120
I'm not exactly sure what you want, but there is a good 14 lesson correspondence bible study at harvest.org (Greg Laurie). It follows a scripture/question/answer format, as you seemed to be requesting. You can download all the lessons at once, instead of doing them as correspondence, if you want to do them in your Wednesday Bible study. Here is the link: www.harvest.org/church/tools/corresp/body.htm I can e-mail also. retxar |

69 | Why not eat blood/why accept transfusion | Bible general Archive 1 | retxar | 27840
Grace, This is from an prior post of mine and is offered for support for what Hank has already said. As Hank said, it is essential that all scripture be taken in context to be properly interpreted. Let me also add, you must interpret scripture with scripture, as the Word will NEVER contradict itself. The letter sent to the Gentiles said they would “do well” (commanded?) if they abstained from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled and from sexual immorality (Act_15:29) . Three of these were addressing the eating habits of Gentile Christians. The Gentiles were not bound to the ceremonial Levitical Law (1Co_8:8), but they were not to use their liberty to be a stumbling block to there Jewish neighbors either (1Co_8:9). If they abused their liberty they would be sinning against their brethren, and thus, would be sinning against Jesus (1Co_8:12). I think the instruction for the Gentile Christians to abstain from sexual immorality here does not mean the common acts of fornication, as this was recognized as wrong by all Christians. This was instructions for the Gentiles to observe certain marriage regulations spelled out in the Levitical Law which prohibited marriages between relatives. This was something most Gentiles of that time thought little of. The Gentile believers here were simply asked to give up some of their "rights" as a display of their love for their Jewish brethren. Read 1Co_8:1-13, that will help put this in perspective. God's Word is true! retxar |

70 | Not apprecatied for what I do., only God | Acts 2:36 | retxar | 27835
Hi Grace, Col 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, Col 3:24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. I know from experience that quoting the above verse is a lot easier than living it! Just try to keep things in proper perspective. Praises of men will soon pass. Rewards from the Lord are forever! In the mean time, pray that God will give you more grace to stay strong in the Lord and keep your eyes on Him. Don’t let the devil push your buttons! (Eph 4:27) Lord, help me walk in your grace! retxar |

71 | Is private speaking in tongues Biblical? | Acts 2:6 | retxar | 27830
1Co 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. 1Co 14:15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. 1Co 14:28 But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God. ....let him speak to himself and to God. That sounds pretty private to me, how abot you? retxar |

72 | Prayers, original, not repetitions | Matt 6:7 | retxar | 27685
Mat 6:7 "And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. The problem with a prayer that would fall in the "vain repetitions" classification would not be the repetitions, as Jesus even prayed prayers that repeated themselves (Mat_26:39; Mat_26:42; Mat_26:44). The problem would be in the “vain” part. Prayers that were all mouth, and no mind and heart. God answers prayer! retxar |

73 | When will I speak/pray in tongues? | Acts 2:6 | retxar | 27611
Greetings Discipled , First off, let me say I agree with the term you used here of being “Baptized in the Spirit” to be the same thing as “Baptized with the Holy Spirit” as Jesus said in Acts 1:5. You can’t go wrong with saying what Jesus said! However, many will think you are talking of the initial indwelling of the Holy Spirit in all believers at salvation (John20:22, 1Cor 12:13). So I will use the term “Filled” instead of “Baptized” to avoid misunderstanding. I have stated on this forum before, as you, that the initial evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. This is what I said 4/23/1 “(Holy Spirit filling) is verified by the initial evidence of speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit gives utterance.” I based this statement on personal experience and bibilical example (Acts 2:4, Acts 10:46, Acts 19:6). However, let me say experience and biblical example are not the same thing as biblical command. We are commanded to be filled with the Spirit (Eph 5:18), but I can’t find where we are commanded to speak in tongues. So, I can’t really make the tongues part of previous statement stick, so I will now officially retract. I still believe in a Holy Spirit filling that is in addition to the Holy Spirit indwelling of all believers, but I can only back up the initial evidence of speaking in tongues by experience and biblical example, not command. You seem open to receiving the gift of speaking of tongues, so keep seeking, keeping knocking, and if the Spirit wills, you will receive (1Cor 12:11). I heard once that anyone who wanted to speak in tongues, could say “Deuteronomy” over and over any it would come to them by and by! Seriously, take note of Acts 2:4 to understand what happens when someone speaks in tongues. Acts 2:4 “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Notice, the disciples were the ones doing the speaking, the Holy Spirit was giving them utterance; not speaking for them, but giving them the words to say. They had to put forth the effort to say the words the Holy Spirit was giving them and to have the gift of faith that what they were saying was from the Lord, not something they had worked up in their own head. retxar PS I know you asked if anyone would care to dialogue on this subject. I will answer any questions you may care to ask, but a lot of this I feel like I have to tip toe thru, as some may want to oppose what I have already defended before. I am not really interested in debating the yes to tongues/no to tongues issue a whole lot, but I felt obligated to respond. |

74 | Do sinners have a time of visitation? | Luke 5:20 | retxar | 27472
Greetings Robert, In Mar_10:21 we see Jesus's invitation of salvation, and in Mar_10:22 we see the rejection of it. This was a real invitation, not a token gesture. When Steven spoke before the Sanhedrin in Act_7:51, he said the Jewish leaders always resisted the Holy Spirit. So in order to resist the Holy Spirit it would be necessary for the Holy Spirit to speak to them. So, I would answer your question, YES! Jesus Saves! retxar |

75 | believers at Great White Throne Judgemen | Matt 25:32 | retxar | 26963
I interpret the great white throne judgement to be judgement of non-believers only (actually sentencing). Rev 20:12 says that those not written in the Book of Life will be judged “according to their works”. We are in big trouble if that is talking about us! A Christian is not judged according to works. The intent of our works are judged (1Cor 3:12-15), but that is a judgement to determine our reward, not punishment. The white throne judgement is a judgement of sin. A Christian's sins have already been judged! Our sins will not escape God’s judgement, as Jesus took full judgement and punishment for them on the cross! (1John 2:2) Thank you Jesus! Jesus Saves! retxar PS. The Mat 25:32 scripture reference is not the white throne judgement, as that is a judgement of the living, not the dead. |

76 | Did Moses seen God face to face? | Ex 33:20 | retxar | 26827
I believe Moses saw God the Son face to face, not God the Father, because of what Jesus said in John 5:37 (also other places including John 1:18 as you quoted). In fact, I believe all OT incarnations of God was God the Son. John 5:37 "And the Father Himself, who sent Me, has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form. Jesus is God! retxar |

77 | Is the image in 1Sam. 28 really Samuel? | 1 Samuel | retxar | 26361
I don't think this was Samuel from the dead at all, but a demon acting as Samuel. Saul had already inquired of the LORD, and the LORD did not answer him (1Sa_28:6). If God refused to answer thru the Holy Spirit, I don’t think He would answer thru demonic means. Look at 1Sa_28:19. The demon (or Samuel) says “tomorrow you and your sons will be with me.” Did Saul join Samuel, or demons? I really don’t know for sure, but from the indication of scripture I do not think Saul joined Samuel. retxar |

79 | Matthew Chap.4 verse 2 | Matt 6:18 | retxar | 25774
Mat 6:16-18 gives scriptural guidelines for fasting. I think that not partaking of the communion for fasting purposes would risk bringing attention to your fast. On the other hand, if the intent was to “sneak a snack”, I don't think partaking would be a wise choice, as that is not the intent of communion. I think I would partake, but it really would be an individual choice, as only God and you know your heart. I did a week fast once, with a commitment to only eat food offered to me, but to eat it whether I liked it or not. Some days I ate, some days I did not. I was blessed from the fast and also from the food God supplied from unexpected sources when things got really tough. retxar |

80 | how do you accont for the word [however] | 1 Cor 6:11 | retxar | 25703
Greetings sowvic, I don't see the word "however" in my bible. "However", I don't think it makes any difference either way. I think what I have already answered deserves your consideration. What are you driving at? Maybe you need to start another thread, as this is off subject from the original question and is really getting strung out. Thanks, retxar |
