61 | How does God help us break addictions? | Rom 13:14 | Pastor Glenn | 119073
SAZ, Please read these scripture from your bible along with the surrounding scripture: Romans 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Ephesians 2:3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

63 | The spirit Like a Flood? | Is 59:19 | Pastor Glenn | 112561
punkiedo, I compare this to Rev 12: Rev 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. Rev 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. So based on that, to me the coma should stay right where it is. Pastor Glenn |

64 | Where did evil come from? | 1 John 5:19 | Pastor Glenn | 110812
wordsmith1970, I wanted to add to the excellent answers that you have already recieved. This is a good question that has been delt with many times on this forum. God could have chosen to make angels and man without choice, but then we would not be able to make any decisions. We would be robots that follow strict preprogrammed instructions. Man has made space vehicles with a small amount of decision making capability. The probes sent to Mars are examples of this. Since remote control is too slow (it takes about 10 minutes for the radio signals to reach Mars) NASA has provided them with programming that allows them to roam the surface and navigate around obstacles. I think that we can learn the importance of free will by looking at our own creations in this way. We will always feel an emptiness until we turn and begin to fulfill our purpose for our existance. Please read the book of Ecclesiastes to learn of the vanity of life. Here is how the book ends: Ecc 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecc 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Pastor Glenn |

65 | Christian Activism? | Matt 5:13 | Pastor Glenn | 109725
Bravo Brother Hank! Yes, it is very much a Christian's responsibility to be activists against sin and evil. This is our way of being "salt" and "light": Mat 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Mat 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. May God bless you Hank, Pastor Glenn |

FytRobert, You asked: "Did Elijah and Enoch go up into heaven, ...Bearing in mind of what Jesus said in John3:13."....no one has ever gone into heaven.."" Yes, they went up to heaven by God's power. They did not walk up on their own. As I said before: The answer has to be in the translation of "went up" or "ascended". Notice synonyms: arise, climb, escalate, float, fly, lift off, mount, move up, rise, scale, soar, sprout, take off, tower. A similar scripture using "ascended": Gen 28:12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. Notice "ascending" here indicates rising to heaven by their own power. Elijah and Enoch did not "walk" up to heaven. They were "taken": Heb 11:5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "and was not found, because God had taken him";[Gen 5:24] for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. The bottom line is "....no one has ever gone into heaven.."(NIV) is better translated as: 13 "(16) No one has ascended into heaven, but (17) He who descended from heaven: (18) the Son of Man.(NASB) 13No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.(NKJV) Pastor Glenn |

FytRobert, Good question. I have often pondered this same question. The answer has to be in the translation of "went up" or "ascended". 68 | Who wrote Daniel? | Dan 12:4 | Pastor Glenn | 107400
JRM, You said, "The book claims to be written around 536 BC, but seems to have been out of circulation for 400 years. Many scholars see this as evidence of a late date of authorship." The book of Daniel, as well as, the rest of scripture has often been put into doubt by some of today's "scholars". Archeology has proven time and time again that details of events, people, and places in the scriptures are far more acurate than any "late date of authorship" could have been. You should seek out the results of honest former skeptics' research. Many have written books after spending years trying to invalidate the historical facts of the bible. I don't know about you JRM, but any honest skeptics should do their homework by reading the works of others before deciding whether to beleive the bible. The problem is that most are dishonest. They make up their mind that the bible is wrong and start from scratch to prove it by ignoring proven history, archeology, and research of others. JRM, do you want help in good books to start with? As you know, the authority of the bible cannot be questioned on this forum for good reasons. You can find good resources on other sites though, like www.equip.org or www.johnankerberg.org Hope this helps, Pastor glenn |

69 | rasied dead died twice? | 1 Thess 4:17 | Pastor Glenn | 106237
1Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. There are exceptions by God's will. But remember, we were not originally meant to die at all. Also the lake of fire is the second death for unbelievers. |

71 | Bearing arms as a Christian | Rom 13:4 | Pastor Glenn | 103876
Cheryl, Have you read this?: Romans 13 1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake. 6For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing. May God bless you for your good work and sacrifice for us, Pastor Glenn |

72 | Baffled about Babel | Gen 11:6 | Pastor Glenn | 103868
proffitt_79, This is a very complicated matter that only God could solve. Gen 11 4And they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth." 5But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. 6And the LORD said, "Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. 7Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech." 8So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. 9Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth. Notice verse 4: "...let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth." There pride can be clearly seen here. They were intent on making a name for themselves. Also notice the world today. Over the last couple hundred years or so we can see the “benefits” of all people working together. Innovations like the printing press, standardization of measurements, the industrial revolution, the electronics communications revolution, the computer revolution, and the internet information revolution; all are coming upon us faster than we can take. So, God knew that “…now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them…” It is clear that this would have come far too prematurely if God had not stepped in. The “benefits” hide the dangers! A single world government sounds great at first glance. The problem comes with who will be the one single world leader? We now know that this will be the Antichrist for a short period. Also, God was giving time for His great plan of mercy, grace, and love as a chosen people of faith would bring forth God’s Son into the world. He had already promised not to bring another great flood. God now brings judgment on nations individually rather than to the whole world together as He did with the great flood. So God was not at all afraid “of” man. But rather, He was afraid “for” man. He wanted them to disperse across the world willingly, but instead, He had to disperse them forcefully. Hope this helps, Pastor Glenn |

73 | Can homosexuals receive salvation? | 1 John 1:9 | Pastor Glenn | 103811
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Of course he can still receive God's forgiveness. This is not the unforgivable sin. You should also read the entire Psalm 51. |

74 | True Disciples - eternal importance | Luke 14:26 | Pastor Glenn | 101386
seeking4truth, Here is something else that Christ said: Joh 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. “So I have to confess to God that I don't exhibit the signs that Jesus gave whereby His true followers and disciples would be known.” Miracles were often necessary to gain a base of witnesses, it was not meant to be an everyday thing for all believers. We walk by faith, not by sight. If miracles were very common then faith becomes unnecessary. Even Paul was not granted healing from his “thorn in the flesh” or else he would suffer a bigger problem: Pride. “Pastor Glenn, it would seem that being a disciple of Christ is an eternal issue. But, frankly, sir, I don't measure up to Jesus' own criteria. And to be honest, I don't have the faith to prove my discipleship the way that He demands. What am I to do?” Many Christians confuse “gifts” (healing, tongs…) with “fruit” (love, joy…). The “fruit” of the Spirit are far more important than the “gifts”. Notice that those that have shown gifts will come to Jesus: Mat 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. If you have the fruit of the Spirit called love, then you know that you are saved: 1Jo 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 1Jo 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. 1Jo 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1Jo 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 1Jo 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 1Jo 3:19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. 1Jo 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. 1Jo 3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 1Jo 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jo 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jo 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 1Jo 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1Jo 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 1Jo 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1Jo 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 1Jo 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 1Jo 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. Pastor Glenn |

75 | Purpose of this forum? | Luke 14:26 | Pastor Glenn | 101371
seeking4truth, I am amazed at your knowledge of God's word while still being a skeptic. May I suggest that you prioritize your bible questions in relation to eternal importance. I have read many of your posts and find a couple things that stand out. One thing is that the fear of spending eternity in hell helped to convert you as a teenager. Another thing is that no one ever really discipled you. Please try to keep these two problems in mind as you prioritize your many questions. The fear of death and hell should not be despised as poor reasons to come to Christ. After all, death is sure, whether you believe or not. However, fear of hell fire depends on your belief in the God of the bible. When some of us on this forum question your salvation, maybe it is because we want you to focus on the most important questions. Please do not despise those that may be trying to disciple you by focusing on where Jesus is in your life. Even those that seek a notch in their gun should not be despised any more than a Fireman that keeps tabs of all the lives that he saved throughout his career. Remember, “He that wins souls are wise.” You asked for web-site suggestions. Here is one: http://www.apologeticspress.org Pastor Glenn |

Is 55 7Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. 8"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. 9"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. There are more. |

78 | Can someone explain this verse. | Gen 48:22 | Pastor Glenn | 94668
DarcyA, Sorry, but I can't find it in the bible. However, there is a controversial online book called the "Book of Jasher" that has a whole lot to say about that war. See chapter 37 at: http://www.nazarene.net/jasher/ Notice that no dead sea scrolls or other ancient documents have been found to authenticate it. So, believe it at your own risk. Pastor Glenn |

79 | How is Adam "Ancient of Days"? | Dan 7:9 | Pastor Glenn | 93803
BMasterT, Perform a bible search for the words "Ancient" and "Days". You get the following 3 verses: Daniel 7:9 "I watched till thrones were put in place, And the Ancient of Days was seated; His garment was white as snow, And the hair of His head was like pure wool. His throne was a fiery flame, Its wheels a burning fire; Daniel 7:13 "I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. Daniel 7:22 until the Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom. Now read the context of Daniel 7 to find any indication of "Adam". Pastor Glenn |

80 | Effect on a "Seekers" service? | 1 Cor 5:12 | Pastor Glenn | 93483
newoldstock, It is difficult to see people embarrassed in public. However, we must trust that God knows the best way to handle these situations. These ways of dealing with sin is further proof that men could not devise the holy bible without God's authorship. We often feel that people misunderstand us, but God knows our heart, that we are basically good. But, on the contrary, our sinful nature is very wicked and deceitful. Only God can know the evil in our hearts and how to deal with it. Gen 6 5Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Jer 17 9"The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? 10I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings. So He has told the church how to handle it in scriptures like 1 Corinthians 5. The question then becomes, do we know a better way than God knows? We often think the best of ourselves and that God will save most people. We often feel that most people are decent enough to be saved. Mat 7 13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. But, this is really part of our humanist philosophy that is taught in our schools. This is why so many of us were so shocked after the Columbine high school shootings. No, I am not saying that adultery in the church is as bad as murder. What I am saying is that if we valued our relationship with God, then we would hate any other sin just as much as we hate murder. All sin ruins our relationship with God. (Psalm 51) People need to be encouraged to do three things: 1. Make up their minds. Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." 2. Count the cost. Luke 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it-- 3. Follow God "fully". Numbers 14:24 But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it. 1 Kings 11:6 Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and did not fully follow the LORD, as did his father David.
