61 | SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH | Gen 16:12 | EdB | 242789
I think since Islam claims to be the descendants of Ishmael this says it best. Genesis 16:11-12 (NASB) 11 The angel of the LORD said to her further, "Behold, you are with child, And you will bear a son; And you shall call his name Ishmael, Because the LORD has given heed to your affliction. 12 "He will be a wild donkey of a man, His hand will be against everyone, And everyone's hand will be against him; And he will live to the east of all his brothers." |

62 | Job's friends philosophies | Job | EdB | 242786
Their philosophy was nearly Islamic. By that I mean they held to Karma, if good things happen it is because you are good if bad things happen it is becaused you sin. They kept trying to get Job to confess what he had done so he could seek forgiveness or at least justify their belief in Karma. Many are like that today, if bad things happen they explain it as punishment or retribution for some sin. if good things happen it is God is blessing for righteous living. That is not to say there aren't consequences for sins nor am saying if we living pleasing to God we won't enjoy a better and fuller life. David said in the psalms that the rain falls on the just and unjust. In fat David often complained that the unjust often seemed to have a better life. We have to hold to Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. |

63 | Infant Baptism? | Acts 16:33 | EdB | 242784
I think to some degree Acts 10:30 narrative and most certainly Acts 16:33 where some find a suggestion that baptism sealed the infants into the salvation that the father enjoyed. The debate on this has been on going and will never get resolved this side of heaven. I was baptized as an infant and also as an adult. (Got all the bases covered :-). |

64 | SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH | 1 John 2:16 | EdB | 242782
fytRobert You mentioned Matt 4:8-9, Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me." First we must understand Satan is a liar. Second was he offering the world or the splendor, adoration and a worship that the Kings of the kingdoms were presently enjoying. Scripture is clear the earth and all that is in it are the Lords. Ex 19:5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. Ps 24:1 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. Ps 50:10-12 For every beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know all the birds of the mountains, And the wild beasts of the field are Mine. 12 "If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all its fullness. So no, I don't think the Matt 4 verse is good here, however Ia do like the Fire Bible Commentary on these verses. Satan's kingdom (12:26) is a very organized empire of evil that has authority over "the kingdom of the air" (Eph 2:2, which may simply mean he is not bound to earth), over fallen angels (i.e., those who followed Satan in rebellion against God, 25:41; Rev 12:7), over people who have not accepted Christ's forgiveness and given their lives to him (vv. 8-9; Jn 12:31; Eph 2:2) and over the present world system (Lk 4:5-6; 2Co 4:4; see 1Jn 5:19, note). Satan is not omnipresent (everywhere at the same time), omnipotent (all-powerful) or omniscient (all-knowing), so most of his activity is assigned to demons (8:28; Rev 16:13-14; see Job 1:12, note). Jesus came to earth to destroy the works of Satan (1Jn 3:8), to introduce God's kingdom (i.e., the evidence of his power, authority, purposes and way of life) and to free us from Satan's control (12:28; Lk 4:18; 13:16; Ac 26:18). By his death and resurrection, Christ paid the penalty for sin and overcame its power. This triumph began the defeat of Satan, which will reach its climax at the end of this age (see Rev 20:7-10) and will guarantee God's complete victory over him (Heb 2:14). |

65 | SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH | 1 John 2:16 | EdB | 242767
We are not ruled by Satan although he influences us a lot. We are ruled by sin unless Jesus has set us free. We still have to deal with our carnal bodies, our flesh leads us to the three areas of sin 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world.
66 | PLZ ANSWER IM YOUNG AND HAVE TO KNOW!!!! | Bible general | EdB | 242762
The righteous in Christ upon death do go into the presenceof the Lord. 2 Cor 5:6-8. If we are in Christ we are not judged, as our sins have been paid by the death of Christ. The final place of the unrighteousness dead is the Lake of Fire which is often incorrectly identified as Hell. Hell today is holding place of the unrighteousness dead. On Judgement day they will arise to stand before the Great White Throne Of Judgement. If their name is not written into the Book of Life they will be cast into the Lake of Fire. Rev 20:11-15. |

68 | SEEKING FOR THE TRUTH | NT general | EdB | 242750
Matt 12:33 Luke 6:44 tell us a tree is known by it's fruit. This is an analogy to spirit lead man he will be known by his fruit. Too often man uses the wrong standard to try to judge another. Do they speak in tongues, prophesize, heal others etc. While the real proof is their fruit. Do they imitate Christ or do they simply give Him lip service. Some the meanest, most hateful people I know speak in tongues. I can not tell you how they do it but I personally do not believe spirit filled/lead people exhibit hatefulness and just plain meanness. |

69 | APOLOSTIC BIBLE POLYGLOT ? | Bible general | EdB | 242746
Do a google search. Wikipedia offers a good explaination. Also you will get a few sites that have a copy of the Bible online. I read John 1:1-3. And it basically describes Jesus as the Son of God and eternal. So I'm not sure why this man questions that fact. The Bible is basically a interlinear of the Septuagint and a transliteration of the Greek New Testament. In my opinion stated with great caution I would say this Bible would be dangerous in the hands of a untrained linguist. If you catch my drift. |

72 | is eating on graves a sin ? | Bible general | EdB | 242641
As a child I was taught that as a sign of respect to never walk, or get on an actual grave. To this day I go out of my way to avoid showing disrespect to a grave by getting on it. As a pastor and having done many funerals I am amazed at how many people have never had similar training and walk all over graves. If you want to lunch near a grave of someone I see no problem with that, but I think to show respect to that person and all others buried there you should be careful not to do so on an actual grave. |

There is no mention of Joshua Tree in the Bible. Would you be so kind to reveal the denomination or church of these people that always say this? I had never heard the expression before and now wonder where it came from. Interesting! |

74 | did god change with time | Gen 1:1 | EdB | 242630
Malachi 3:6 (NKJV) 6 "For I am the LORD, I do not change;... No God does not change nor does He overlook sin. Many people confuse grace with overlooking of sin and that is simply not the case. God grace gives us time to repent of our sin but unrepentant sin is still charged against us. Jesus told us to confess our sins, to repent of our sins and to walk holy before the Lord. Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. |

75 | Cain feared who would kill him? | Gen 4:13 | EdB | 242614
Since we have no time frame and assuming there was intermarriage ( brother sister, uncle niece) there are estimates that as many as 100,000 people could have been alive by this time. Again this is an assumption not documented in scripture. Plus Cain realized that before his death many more people would be on earth, so his fear was justified. |

Most evolutionist insist that evolution took place before this verse. That man came from the slim and they have no problem with all humans speaking one language at this time. However scripture tells us God created man, man did not just happen.

79 | The world tommrow....today | Bible general | EdB | 242580
Part two is now available for viewing. While I totally agree with the message I believe there's is a problem within the church. The leadership of the true church of Jesus Christ will not stand up draw a line in the sand and be unwavering in their stand. Today the world looks at the church and sees a series of mixed messages. Example some call homosexuality a sin, some call it a life style, some call it a private matter, some welcome it into their church, some call it not a sin, some perform same sex marriages, some ordain open homosexuals, some promote homosexuals to leadership positions. Another example abortion. Some call it a sin, some called allowable, some call it essential in the case of rape and incest, some leadership in church has had an abortion, some hide abortion, some support the process of abortion. The world is looking for answers, looking for absolutes and what they are seeing in the church is the same confusion they see in the world. It is time for the authentic Church of Jesus Christ to stand up and call false prophets, false churches and false denominations - False! But to do this requires credibility and sadly no one seems willing to step up and be that person. |

80 | What is the covenant of salt in 2 Chron | Num 18:19 | EdB | 242577
Numbers 18:19 a covenant of salt forever Salt was required for all sacrifices (Lev 2:13; Ezek 43:24), as it ensured a more complete removal of blood through absorption. In contrast to leaven and other fermented items (which were forbidden for use on the altar), salt was the best preservative of the day (Lev 2:11). Salt therefore symbolized permanence and purity Faithlife study bible electronic edition. |
