63 | Who is him? (Him or him?) | Gal 4:29 | Mommapbs | 138712
Whe I read this verse, I immediately think of Christ. RE: "him who was born according to the Spirit" , Who is him? IMO, the conclusion of the verse, "so it is now also." is referencing the reality of the ongoing persecution of believers Jesus warned us (John 15:20) would accompany our faith in Him. Comments? (Ray - your comments here would be appreciated.) |

75 | Did some believe and not turn? | Acts 11:21 | Mommapbs | 134753
The Amplified stresses the RESULT of the activity of God - which should encourage us as we "share" the Gospel with others - we are not responsibile for another's belief or lack thereof! But just reading the NASB I'm wondering, did some believe and not turn to the Lord? - the grammatical structure of this verse is perplexing. From my limited perspective, it appears that the emphasis is not only on the work of God, but the order of that work - prompting belief first . . . Any insight here would be appreciated.
76 | If you live right, you are rewarded? | 1 John 1:9 | Mommapbs | 134214

77 | WHO pays the wage? | 1 John 1:9 | Mommapbs | 134180
Angel - you wrote: "The wage of sin is death--this never stops being true, even for those who come to Christ and willfully chose to return to sin!" So then what hope or confidence do I have as a believer if Christ's death was not sufficient to pay the "wage" of my sin? Of what purpose was Christ's death if my sins result in death? As you noted from Romans 6 - When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. . . .You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. What does it mean to be set free from sin? Does it mean that I no longer sin or that I am set free from the "wages" of sin? Are you saying that IF we don't confess our willful sin, we will pay the wage???? |

79 | How will their folly "be obvious to all" | 2 Tim 3:9 | Mommapbs | 133752
Is "their folly" the godlessness that has been described in vv 2-5? "For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these." These men are further described in v 8 as men who "oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, rejected in regard to the faith." Are believers just as "blind" to the subtle workings of godlessness within our culture as suggested in vv 6-7? How will their folly "be obvious to all"? |
