61 | Thankyou, what do you think about this? | Matthew | Chusarcik | 93362
Hank, Thanks for your detailed answer. Your view point seems more likely to me as in 1 Peter Jesus says He addressed the disobedient spirits in the days of Noah. That doesn't sound like he's talking about the righteous dead to me. I am beginning to see from some of the answers I've been getting that there are two view points on who Jesus is addressing. Some believe it's wicked spirits as you do and some think it's the righteous dead. A brief thought. Could Jeus have addressed two different groups of people during the 3 days in the center of the earth? Could he have referred to the righteous dead in Matthew 12:40 and the wicked spirits in the days of Noah? I don't know, what do you think? Chusarcik
62 | I'm getting differing opinions... | Matthew | Chusarcik | 93359
Is Jesus talking about 2 different groups of people in the two above passages? Chusarcik
63 | 1 Peter doesn't sound like faithful dead | Matthew | Chusarcik | 93356
Let me put my question another way: It sounds like Jesus WAS referring to the faithful dead Matthew 12:40 but in 1 Peter 3:19-20 which I was given as a second reference for what Jesus did in the center of the earth (or whatever place it was that he went for 3 days) it says, "He went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built" The 1 Peter reference, on the other hand, doesn't sound like faithful dead. Why would He refer to all the faithful dead as only specifically the spirits that "disobeyed while the ark was being built". Is he speaking of the same group of people in these two passages? Thanks for your input. Chusarcik
64 | Thanks, what do you think about this? | Matthew | Chusarcik | 93317
Thanks, I much appreciate the scripture references. Based upon 1 Peter 3:18-20 it seems possible Jesus went to the center of the earth to announce His finished work on the cross to those who died anticipating His coming. One thing bothers me about that explanation, though. 1 Peter 3:19 and 20 says Jesus was preaching to spirits who DISOBEYED while Noah's ark was being built. That doesn't sound like people who died waiting for Christ to me. Also, if these verses represent ALL who died in faith prior to Christ's actual coming, why do they specifically speak only of those who disobeyed while the ark was being built? Something doesn't fit here or I'm missing something. Any comments? Chusarcik
65 | I unerstand, but that's not my question | Matthew | Chusarcik | 93314
I understand that Jesus was giving the information to try to get sinners to repent, but that is not my question. My question is, "What was the Jesus' purpose in going to the center of the earth for 3 days?" It doesn't seem He could have been preaching repentance, because those in the center of the earth were no longer living and each person must choose to believe or not believe before he dies. Can anyone answer my question? Chusarcik
66 | No point in preaching to the lost? | Matthew | Chusarcik | 93260
Why would Jesus bother to preach to those who'd already lost their chance for salvation? Doesn't each of us have to choose to believe or not believe while still living? And even if Christ had not yet come, isn't each person judged based on whether they believed in God and waited in anticipation for Christ to come? Why would he preach to the unsaved. What would it accomplish? Chusarcik |

67 | Any more information on this? | Matthew | Chusarcik | 93250
I looked at 1 Peter 3:19 and 11 Peter 4-5 and it seems as though Jesus went to the center of the earth to give some message to disobediant angels. Does anyone have further comments on the purpose of Jesus' 3 day visit t the center of the earth? Chusarcik
68 | What was Jesus doing in the earth 3 days | Matthew | Chusarcik | 93243
Matthew 12:40 says after being crucified, Jesus spent three days in the center of the earth. Can anyone explain the purpose of this and what He was doing in the center of the earth? Chusarcik |

69 | I'm looking for specifics, see below | Matt 11:23 | Chusarcik | 91868
Thankyou, I understand the concept of what Jesus is saying, but am looking for more specific information on what were the sins of the cities of Tyer and Sidon and where these two were located geographically? I read the two references you gave and they did not answer that question. Any more specific information to answer my two questions? Chusarcik
70 | Questions on Matthew chapter 11 | Matt 11:23 | Chusarcik | 91780
Matthew chapter 11 speaks of Bethsadia, korazin and Capernaum, cities that reject Jesus. Jesus says of these cities that it will be worse for them on judgment day then it will be for the cities of Tyre, Sidon and Sodom. I am wondering if Bethsadia, Korazin and Capernaum were corresponding types of Tyre, Sidon and Sodom? Can anyone shed some light on that possibility and also, what were the specific sins of Tyre, Sidon and Sodom? Where were these three cities located geograpically? Chusarcik
71 | Thanks and sorry to pester you | Matt 10:23 | Chusarcik | 90822
EdB, I guess I'm just having trouble with the wording of the scripture? Your answers makes sense, but each time I go back and read 10:23 literally, it looks like Jesus was saying to the apostles they would face persecution, but that He, Jesus would return before the apostles reached all the cities in Israel. How do we get they wouldn't run out of cities from that statement? I appreciate all the work you're putting into your answers and am just trying to reach an understanding that matches what the verse says, Chusarcik |

72 | Good info but doesn't answer my question | Matt 10:23 | Chusarcik | 90766
Thanks for your quick response and the informaiton is appreciated, but that is not my question. I'm not looking for the time of Jesus' return at all. My question is whether or not we are to imply that Jesus meant ALL NATIONS in Matthew 10:23 when he referred to the phrase, "cities of Israel" not being all reached by the time He returned. Can anyone answer this question? Chusarcik
73 | How does Israel represent all nations? | Matt 10:23 | Chusarcik | 90761
I believe you're right and my question isn't about the time of Jesus' return, but more about why he specifically stated in 10:23 that the message wouldn't reach all the CITIES OF ISRAEL before Jesus' return if we are to imply that cities of Israel here really meant all nations. Can anyone clarify? Chusarcik
74 | Any other opinions on this? | Matt 10:23 | Chusarcik | 90755
I will do that and does anyone have further comments answering what Jesus means in Matthew 10:23 where He says He'll return again before the apostles will have gone through all of the cities of Israel if we are to imply Jesus really meant all nations when He said all cities of Israel? Chusarcik
75 | Just one more question on Matthew 10:23 | Matt 10:23 | Chusarcik | 90759
In reading the previous answer for my question on Matthew 10:23, I understand that Jesus indicates to the apoostles that the message of the gospel will not finish reaching all nations before Jesus' 2nd coming, but in thinking about this I have another question: Why does this verse say the apostles won't finish spreading the gospel specifically to all the cities of Israel if rather than to all cities of the world if we are to take it that Jesus meant all nations here? Chusarcik

No, just wandered. Thanks, Chusarcik
77 | Am I understanding right? | Matt 10:23 | Chusarcik | 90637
So you think it is addressing all disciples and means the gospel will not finished being spread througout all Israel until Jesus' 2nd coming? Just trying to understand. Chusarcik
78 | Question on Matthew 10:23 | Matt 10:23 | Chusarcik | 90519
In Matthew 10:23 my NIV Bible, Jesus says to his apostles that they will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes? This can't mean Jesus' 2nd coming will happen before they finished going through the towns because he still hasn't come? So what does Jesus mean here?
79 | Why did Jesus say to stay in one house? | Matt 10:11 | Chusarcik | 90530
Why does Jesus instruct his apostles in Matthew 10:11 to stay in one home per town rather than move from house to house?
80 | Is Matthew 10:5 fulfillment of prohecy? | Matt 10:5 | Chusarcik | 90521
In Matthew Chapter 10 verse 5 Jesus instructs his apostles to spread the gospel to the Jews but not the Gentiles at that time. I understand that Jesus told the apostles this because the gospel was to come FIRST to the Jews as God's chosen people, but I wondered if this verse is also a fulfillment of old testament prophecy?
