601 | Do we worship (proskuneo) today? | John 4:23 | justme | 63555
Searcher: Hi brother. Now your question is a good one. I will do my best for you. Under PROSKUNEO in the New Testament here are the verses it is used in. As homage or reverence, Matt. 4:10; John 4:21 to 24; 1 Cor. 14:25;.To Christ,eg., John 9:38; Heb. 1:6 quotes from Sept. Deut. 31:43, referring to Christ' Second Advent; (c) to man, Matt. 18:26;. This comes exactilly from VINES EXPOSITARY DICTIONARY OF NEW TESTAMENT WORDS. PAGE 1247. I hope this helps you in some way. I barely make it in english say nothing of greek, but VINES on the other hand is an very good reference. justme |

602 | Bibical Christianity | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 62469
New Creature:I hope you don't mind me entering into you question about "Biblical Christianity". There are some, for instance the General Association of Regular Baptist, who openly say in their folders about what they believe, that American Baptist's are any thing but Biblical. So it is with other non-denominational or extreme fundamentalist who believe that any other church type other than theirs is not Biblical. Neither belief of which do I condem or condone. This is just a small example of some groups idea, of what "Biblical Christianity" would mean to these groups. I do not agree with their belief about who is a "Biblical" Christian, and who is not. I am tring to point out that the meaning of "Biblical Christianity" is understood in the way a person, church, or non-or, denomination understands what exactly the Universal Bride of Christ is. I am more ecumentical than some, and less than others. I do not believe in universalism! I personally believe the Universal Church to be wide, incorporating believers of many non-, or denominations. The only true church is one in which Jesus Christ is devine and risen. I strongly, with all my soul, believe the most important issue for a "Biblical Christianity" is stated in Galations 5:6, especially the last part which says "The only thing that counts is Faith expressing itself through love" NIV. Beliving as I do, then there has always been "Bibical Christanity" and at no one period of time, or person has made a significant change to be totally "Biblical Christianity" except the Lord Jesus Christ. I do not think that the further we get from the time of Christ to now, that orthodox "Biblical Christianity" has become weaker, in deed the very opposite, in my opinion. This is just my dimes worth, I hope it gives you food for thought. justme |

606 | angered at God?? | Exodus | justme | 61221
abbub3: Exodus 4:1 to 17. I believe Moses was angered at God. Would that be considered the kind of anger you are thinking about? Also Cain in killing able. Cain was called of God but did not follow Gods will. Satan surely got angry and so much so he becane the evil one. Although Sayan was not a man to begin with. Hope this adds to some thoughts. justme |

607 | Should women be allow to be a Minister? | Galatians | justme | 61217
neal: Welcome to the forum! Gal 3:28 Is a good stan firm verse. Many use this vers as a core theology in allowing women to serve anywhere in the church. This has been a widely debated issue for many centuries. So I doubt we can settle it here in the forum at any time in the distant furture either. Lets be fair and honest women do most of the work, be it at home, church, or the work place. For most women of our modern world they still have it a lot harder then most men. Now the ministry of the Nursery here is where you very seldom hear of men wanting to take over! Why not you may ask? No one dislike changing nasty diapers more than me! I think most of us strong manly hunks think that that is not ministry, right? Doing anything with snall kids is womans work in most churches I would say, from my observation. I am of the opinion that some of what we read, Paul was addressing the culture he was living in. We see simular cultures today in themiddle east. I can not think of the care given to jesus was more often than not done by women. Surely we have grown beyond the times of considering women as second class and below man. The sad thing is I know that in many churches today men make most of the choices, and far less than their share of the work. This is not as Christ would have it I am sure. Rarely, but on occasion there is a bossy woman who disrespects men, anf oversteps boundries. Then their problem with all men shows up with hardness and a mean attitude. No matter male or female this type of person needs a sign saying DOES NOT PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS. Men have it hard in ministry! Women have it even harder! I will ask you, are you ready to assume the Ministry of the Nursery? If not then you have answered your question. justme |

JRdoc: Welcome to the Forum! Take a secont and fill out something about yourself in the Update User Info. That helps us get to know each other a little better.John 1:9 Says God enlightens every man. I trust that is true. How, I do not fully know. I am not sure what your question is. You have writen a very nice article. I see some things I agree with Calvinism, but I am not a 5 pointer by any means. The same is true for Arminianism. I do not fit totally in either camp. But what is so dumbfounding is these fractions have split churches, and caused serious divisions and all out hatered between Christians. That hate is against the very words Jesus spoke. In truth it proberly is that both sides are not complete, and each has some truth, as I see it. Again welcome to the forum! justme |

609 | Who wrote Hebrews? | Luke 15:24 | justme | 61189
Retxar: I agree that Paul is the author of Hebrews, based on more than that some liberal schollar said so. Most conservative Seminary Schollars would say there is more evidence to support Paul writing this in his later life and his writing had change just as all of ours does over time. There once ans still is taught the JEPD theory of Genisis. This suggests there were 4 writers of the book. Not that Liberal thought has been proven wrong. We know Moses wrote it. There will always be the doubters looking to prove the Word is wrong. I know I can trust the Bible, and if I can't then NOTHING in the Bible is trustworthy. Many think the book of Ester is not worthy to be in the Bible too. Are they right? The word God, or lord is notin it once, Then we could go to Job. Many liberals say it's an alagory. Was Job a real person? Then how about Jonah, is he a real person? THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. What it all comes down to is can we trust the Bible as truth and totally accurate? My answer is yes, yes! justme |

614 | Is it wrong to swear or take an oath? | Matt 5:34 | justme | 60265
Hank:-)I see al the notes using James 5:12 as the basis for not swearing or taking an oath. Some times life throughs a curve ball. When I went to work for NASA, we had to swear our alegance, and to keep what we were working on to remain totally a secrect. Afirming instead of swearing was not permitted. To this day, that is the policy of many projects. Those who pass the background test, they do invade your life as well as your wives, parents and friends. I am reminded Jesus said to render to Ceaser what was Ceasers, and to submit to those in authority. Under such circumstances I believe this is different than the verse is saying. When we are responsible for others life, I want to know I can count on that persons truthfullness. We all can remmember how Presidents have lied and covered up evil deeds. Every President said they would be truthful so help them God. In recent years one President did not know what fornication was! (I think he was from Arkansas) We have bowed our head in shame and pain at some ministers who have fallen as well. The sinfull nature of man is a battle for us all. I beleive that is why scripture says not many of us should be teachers. There is serious consequences for failing to keep out vows, oaths, and what we swear to! My opinion is if a Christian is not faithful in the covenant of marriage, then they are untrustworthy in all areas. This can change, but change and earning trust takes a lot of time to regain. I earned my countries trust, I gave my Holy word, I kept my word. I believe it is entirely possible to make a vow, oath, or swear to a commitment and be so anchored to the Word of Truth and to the Lord Jesus that our word is sealed in such a way that it is as if Christ signed it Himself. When we make this kind of covenant it must be solid and pure as gold. I do not take giving my word lightly! When we say "oh I will remember to pray for you" that is our word, is it not? But in reality I often think it is an empty promise. Therefore I would say don't swear unless you are prepared do anything to honor you oath, or swearing in a statement. By the way Hank, I do have a short haired big Colley,(120 lbs worth) which is shaggy, but not long haired. I just thought of one other delema, what about all these men going into the US Service? They are required to sware aligence, not affirm. That's if I remember correctly. By the way I changed my ending to "chairo" it means farewell, God-speed, greeting, hail, joy, rejoice. I want an ending no one else is using. So this may turn out to be a long list of Greek words. That's if I have to keep changing my ending. chairo, justme |

616 | What about human cloning? | Gen 2:7 | justme | 59984
Hank: Even if they do cloning, that person has a soul, not connected to the orginal fron whom the clone came from. That person would still be responsible to God for either being a Christian or rejecting Christ. The medical ethicals is such that even Doctors have problems with this cutting edge expermentation. I am willing to state my opinion, ready for a blast of disagreement. That I do not believe pregnancy started out side the womb, with any mans sperm,or wonams egg, other than the husbands sperm or wifes egg is wrong. For me that amounts to adultery outside the womb. I wonder at what point will mankind admit that rather than God being in control of our reproductive lives, we have gone too far? I say this with sorrow for those who believe other wise. I see that mankind is seeking to become as wise as God, which was from the begining, and always shall be. Cloning is wrrong! To think of another "justme" walking about is more that even I could endure. Now perhaps another Hank? The world might be better off. aagape. justme |

617 | Eve was GOD's gift to Adam. Meaning? | Gen 2:7 | justme | 59977
SWAZ:Genesis 2:27 Wow what a wonderful God we have! God knew exactly what each of His creations needed! Tommorow my wife and I will have been married 33 years! My wife is a God gift for sure! Any man knows his wife is a gift, or he is dumb as dirt! Woman completes the man, not the other way around. I would be a disorganized mess without my wife. By the way the best year of marriage? Is the one you are in! Thank you Lord for my dear wife! agape, justme |

618 | Historical Christian Stance on Slavery? | Exodus | justme | 59905
Vannessa: In our own country the Southern Baptist and Norther Baptist, split over the issue of slavery. Today the Northern Baptist are the American Baptist Churches of the USA. The Southern Baptist Convention still is alive and quite well today. However, as we know they do not support slavery today. As in any war, the Civil war had Christians on both sides. War for me is the ultimate evil. If all the men who died in the Civil War would have lived, and there would have been no Civil War, the population of the United States could have been a third more than now. If we factored in all the babies who been aborthed we would be a different nation! There would not be a population facing less people to support the Social Security System, as the baby boomers must face retirement, many will have to put off retirement to about 72 years of age to retire. That is according to Larry Burkett in Crown Ministries. So if more of our population is faced with working longer, with for the most part, with less expendable income than their parents, we have inslaved ourselves in a different war. Have we not? Give us something to think about, right? agape, justme |

619 | do u ask for the holy ghost? | Rom 8:26 | justme | 59894
kimmy: There is really is a mistranslation when we say Holy Ghost. Ther correct translation is Holy Spirit. The only time the the word Ghost is used is when Jesus entered the room where Thomas and the rest were hiding, after the resurrection and Jesus suddenly appeared, the word Ghost is used there, as if to say eek a Ghost. To answer your question, you receive the Holy Spirit from the second Jesus becomes your Lord. The Holy Spirit indwells every true believer. The gifts He gives are just exactly that, gifts. You can't ask for a gift because then it is not a gift! There are those who would disagree with me and say speaking in tongues is proof you have the Holy Spirit. However, taken in context speaking in tongues, is a gift and not all of us have that. I personally believe it is a gift given far less than some think. I have never ever heard someone say they had the gift of helps, or giving. Why not? I think it has to do with forcing people to speak in odd words they do not understand to prove their salvation. agape. justme |

620 | Are condoms ok in a marriage? | 1 Cor 7:9 | justme | 58332
bcbj:Welcome to the Forum! Romans Chapters 14 and 15, present views on making judgements and doing as the Lord leads us. Paul also tells us that to do something we believe to be wrong is sin. Yet, Paul also allows for accepting each others views, and not being offensive to others. Birth control is exactly that, whatever is done or used is to prevent the chance of baby being born. The information Emmaus gave is good, and represents the Catholic Churches position. The Catholic Churches position on abortion has been consistant and unwavering against abortion. This is very commendable and I believe the only Biblical answer on abortion. Birth control was used by Camel herdsman, long before Christ birth. They inserted stones in the female camels womb. That was the first IUD if you want to call it that. The stone prevented the Zigote from attaching to the wall of the womb of the camel. In any from of birth control there is a failure percentage. Every method has it's problems. Most of us are so trusting of our doctors that we are ignorantly aborting conceived babies without knowing it. The IUD, the Pill, actually allow conception, but prevent attachment to the wall of the womb. Thus conception is terminated. In all medical books up until about 1920, said life began at conception. By the late 1940's life was now changed to when the zigote attached to the womb, life then began. Read Psalm 139, and see what the Bible says. There is little room for doubt. Today we live in a time that families of three children are looked down on with shame! When scripture says just the contrary. There are several family planning methods today that do not create ethical and religious struggles to contend with. The very best advice I can say for sure is stay away from PLANNED PARENTHOOD. These are baby killers! The keep the abortion mills going! To get good information see if you have a Christian Crisis Pregnancy Center. There they can give you either actual materials on Natural Family Planning, and other more credible methods that are compatable with you and your husbands wants. This subject is a very sensitive, and walking and living by faith takes effort, and trust. In Psalm 139 it is very clear that the Lord knew us before we even were concieved. I take that to mean the Lord will be with us as husband and wife, and no matter what, we can trust that God is in control. There are more natural, healthy, ways to plan your family today than ever before. We had 4 children. We now have 5 grandchildren. We have to trust the Lord to protect them all now. More faith is needed now, it seems, then when they were still at home. There has been pain and blessings, times of hurt and times to rejoyce. This is all part of life, and before you know it you wont even have the choice as to consider pregnancy. Life is fast enjoy every step of the journey. agape, justme |
