541 | How do we get saved, by baptism? | 1 Pet 3:21 | Tamara Brewington | 203714
Good answer I believe this as well, however my concern was in how to reconcile apparently conflicting scriptures;Galatians 5:4, Romans 11:2,3, I Peter 1:4,5, Romans 8:37,38, about the requirments of salvation since I am encountering folks who believe in a false doctrine based on using only one set of scriptures and not all of scripture. Feel like giving a go at reconciling these scriptures?
542 | God | John 14:27 | Tamara Brewington | 203711
Psalm 1:3,4, Psalm 90:17, Proverbs 6:2-11, Psalm 102:16-18, Psalm 61:2, Psalm 69:1-3, Proverbs 25:20, Mathew 5:3-9. Try praising the Lord with out loud singing, sounds weird, but try it. Even if you end up crying with tears running down the back of your throat and snot flying, try it. I was mentally ill for a long time and I had to praise the Lord until I was vommitting on an empty stomache to get through it all. They diagnosed me as Bipolar Schizophrenic and I went through hell. I finally gave up and said Lord, I can't function anymore and threw the pills out and dedicated it to Him, three months later I was completely healed forever. Don't try this if you have not heard in your heart to do it, chemical imbalances are hard to beat. But God lives in our praises coming out of our mouths, you will find that it will be hard for the devil to operate while you are being inhabited by the Spirit of God in your praises. But the devil will fight and you will get physically ill, don't give in to your flesh trying to stop your praises, keep going until you get delivered. It may take years of praise, but God can do this, if He did for me, He can for you.
543 | dead in christ shall rise first | 1 Thess 4:16 | Tamara Brewington | 203707
This means physical; the dead are already in heaven in spirit because II Corinthians 5:8 says, that Paul would rather be absent from the body and at home with Christ. What happens at the rapture is that the dead bodies will rise and be changed and reunited with the spirits of the saved who will be meeting them in the air with Christ. And then the live saints will be caught up into the air and changed as well. Try seeing the whole thing in context, see verses 15 and 17 to get the picture in full.
544 | Acts 13:1 | Bible general Archive 4 | Tamara Brewington | 203706
Your choice of scripture leaves one wondering how it relates to SDA? SDA believes that when people died their souls go to sleep and that they do not go to heaven until the rapture. This belief cannot make or break your salvation it is just not based on the totatlity of what scripture teaches about death for the believer. They take this belief from I Timothy 4:14 where it says that God will bring with Him those that have fallen asleep in Jesus. But sleep often refers to death in the New Testament and this scripture simply means whoever died in Christ will have their dead body raised in the rapture (see verses 15,16 to get the proper context). They also believe that a person gets to heaven after being saved by living a life of good works and that a profession of believing in Christ is not enough to get into heaven. They base this beleif on James 2:18-20 where it says I will show you my faith by my works and that faith without works is useless. They aslo base this belief in keeping all the Old Testament Law in disregard of all of Romans where it teaches that the law cannot get you into heaven. They are law keepers and do not believe in salvation by faith alone, by grace alone. They believe in salvation by believing in Jesus and convenant keeping and for this reason they keep the Sabbath, which is Saturday. This is because the 10 Commandments say to keep the Sabbath Holy to the Lord as a perpetual statute. They believe that if you don't keep the Sabbath, but instead worship God on Sunday, you have the mark of the beast, but they have no scripture for this, they just believe it. Seventh Day Adventist therefor qualifies as a cult rather than as a sect of Christianity.
545 | any difference between Jesus and Christ? | John 20:31 | Tamara Brewington | 203705
Your question was unclear, somehow I think that the obvious answer is not quite what you are looking for. Christ is the Greek word for the Jewish word that means Messiah, although the Hebrew word for Messiah is not used in the Old Testament. The concept is there in Isaiah and other prophetic writings which speak of the one who will come and set up his kingdom on earth as the deliverer, which is the Jewish Messiah. There are two prophecies in Isaiah giving this Messiah a name, "Immanuel" meaning,God with us which is what Jesus became, God with us. The name Jesus is Greek for Iesous in Hebrew and is just a common name. Is this what you needed to know? Or were you asking if Jesus was actually the Christ, the Messiah who was promised to come? If that was your question, yes, and here is why, there are 350 prophecies from the Old Testament that came true in the New Testatment concerning the birth place, exact birth year, circumstances of birth, circumstances of life ministry (miracles), circumstances of manner and method of trial and death and resurrection from the dead of Jesus proving that He was the Christ Messiah. So yes in that sense there is a correlation between Jesus and the Christ and there is no difference between them they are one person.
546 | explanation to rev:1-3 | Revelation | Tamara Brewington | 203703
Revelation 13:1-3, verse 1: the dragon is Satan and he was standing amongst the multitude of people (sea shore), the beast is the Anti-Christ the person and he was coming up out of the nations (sea) and he has authority over seven nations and ten kingdoms and he has blasephemous names written on his authority. Verse 2: the Anti-Christ was full of the power of the nations and Satan gave him his power and his seat of authority in the world. Verse 3: The Anti-Christ or one of the heads of a part of his kingdom (theologians are in disagreement as to which)is literaly slain and then literaly is raised from the dead in a mockery of the rising of Jesus from the dead. And because of this evil miracle by the power of Satan, rising from the dead of Anti-Christ or his head of state will cause the whole earth to be amazed and they will follow him (verse 4 then says they will worship him, which is why most theologians say it will be the Anti-Christ who will rise from the dead and not a memeber of his courts).

548 | how old is this world? | Genesis | Tamara Brewington | 203701
I think that the first thing to consider when thinking about this very important question is to consider that if God was able to perform great miracles like the 10 plagues of Egypt, or the parting of the Red Sea and most importantly the advent of Jesus Christ as God with all the attendant proof that He is God, then there is no reason not to believe that God created the earth in 6 literal 24 hour days. Secondly, the word for day is Yom in Hebrew and refers in most instances to literal 24 hour periods as in Exodus 20:8 where Moses uses the word Yom as a literal 24 hour period (he never intended that the Sabbath was an extremely long day of a thousand years or so, he meant 24 hours and was referring to creaiton when he used the word Yom). Thirdly the verse in II Peter 3:8; there has been gross eisegesis by those who see this as one day being as a thousand years to God as referring to creation. The verse is specifically referring to God being long suffering to those who are perishing, down in verse 9, as that His long suffering is such that one day is as a thousand years, not that one day is a thousand years. When plain sense makes good sense seek no other sense, use this as a barometer when trying to figure out numbers in the Bible... It will yeild a basis for sound exegesis. The earth was created in six days, and God rested on the seventh, its just a miracle.
