5141 | psalms... judgement chapter 1 verse 5 | Rev 20:15 | EdB | 225732
Give me a break I have already retracted and apologized for the confusion I caused both you and Beja. A misunderstanding you both cling to tenaciously and it seems that no matter what is say you want to continue beat the dead horse. My intent was not to negate the Great White Throne Judgement but rather my intent was to drive home the point made in John 3:16-18 now if you want me to supply sources for my belief on that point I will be happy. I will start with John the Apostle that wrote that passage and the book of Revelation that cite the final judgement. We both know your passion is not just the defense of God's truth but includes the defense of a certain theology that you have branded as correct and all others false. Enough said? |

5142 | belief in hell? | Rev 20:15 | EdB | 240072
I believe duration of the Lake of Fire is established in both Matthew 25:41 (NASB77) 41 "Then He will also say to those on His left, ' Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; and Revelation 20:10 (NASB77) 10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. However you are correct we do not fully understand how one can be cast into the Lake of Fire and tormented by the fire and yet not be consumed. None the less the reality of Hell is firmly established by scripture, you can not be a Christian and ignore eternal damnation as being factual. |

5143 | Is there any sickness in heaven? | Rev 21:4 | EdB | 115632
And why isn't there any sickness in heaven? Because we are given immortal bodies. 1 Cor. 15:53-54 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. [54] So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." By the way there appearently still a need for healing on the new earth. Rev. 22:2 In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the HEALING of the nations. (emphasis mine) EdB |

5144 | family in heaven | Rev 21:4 | EdB | 243366
Lionstrong Your proof text Luke 16:27 is talking of a person in Sheol not a person in heaven. I believe we will know our relatives that are in heaven as you proved citing Matt 17:3. But I thought the question was would we in heaven know of our loved ones that aren't there but in the Lake of Fire. I think that would cause us distress and we are assured heaven will be stress free Rev 21:4 |

5145 | family in heaven | Rev 21:4 | EdB | 243379
Since the Lake of Fire is eternal punishment. I would think the knowledge of a loved ones suffering would be stressful. I would think it would fill us with a degree of regret or doubt, did we do everything possible to lead this person to the truth. Think of a parent knowing their child must endure such punishment even though it is just. However there may be some kind of disconnect from the physical feelings, love, hate, remorse, regret, anger, and such we now experience. It is possible that while we may know someone it won't be based on physical relationship but rather pure knowledge of the person with no physical emotions as we know them involved. |

5146 | Will unbelievers be raised from Sheol? | Rev 21:8 | EdB | 31775
Curtnsally made a good point there is a distinction between unbelievers and those that never heard the gospel. An unbeliever has heard the gospel of Jesus Christ and rejected it and I believe therefore doomed to the Lake of Fire. However there are those that never heard the gospel (unreached) and what happens to them. Curtnsally made a statement I disagree with, “It is faith in God that save us from our sin, whether we recognize God in Christ or not. Abraham did not know of Jesus Christ in the literal sense, but Romans 4:3 speaks of Abraham being saved by grace (not works, as was commonly thought in OT times)... "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." He trusted God for His salvation.” It was not just Abraham’s faith in God that saved him but rather his faith that God would provide him a redeemer (God’s grace) that saved him. If this was not the case then all the God believing Jews would be saved. I believe Abraham righteousness earned him a place in Sheol known as “Abraham’s bosom” Luke 16, where Jesus then entered preached the Good News and lead captivity captive. The redeemer that he looked to came and took him home. Using Romans 1:20, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” And saying that because nature attests to God, and if we accept that we will be saved is untrue. Because John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” This clearly says that a knowledge of God is not enough, it is belief that Jesus died for our sins as being essential to our salvation. Roman 1:20 is saying only nature clearly attests to God, not that man would be saved or even realize a need to reconciled to God. Now to the question what about unreached people? The answer, we don’t know! We know God is just and we have to believe however it is handled it is done in a just and righteous manner. Our responsibility is to witness to Jesus and make disciples if we are doing this then we did our part and we have to trust God to do His. We can discuss this until the cows come home (as Hank would say), but the fact is we can’t answer this anymore than we can explain the Trinity or name the woman Cain married) EdB |

5147 | Will unbelievers be raised from Sheol? | Rev 21:8 | EdB | 31944
Mrs. Santosh S There is no one passage that tells this. But we can piece it together from a few passages. While I run the danger of being accused of proof texting I will take a shot at explaining this. First the word ‘hell’ or ‘sheol’ meant a holding place for the dead to the Jews, it did not mean a place of punishment as we relate it today. Jesus gave us a picture of this place in Luke 16:19-31. Lazarus the beggar died righteous and went to the side called “paradise’ or “Abraham’s bosom” the rich man died and went to the hot dry place. There was no way to cross over. Luke 16:26 Jesus said on the cross to the repentant thief today you will be with me in ‘paradise’ Luke 23:43. Upon His death Jesus went to ‘paradise’ or Abraham’s bosom, however you prefer to call it, and appeared to the righteous awaiting the promised of His arrival. Jesus didn’t remain in Sheol as we see in Hebrews 9:11-14 He ascended into heaven and presented His Blood as the perfect sacrifice on the Altar made without human hands. Jesus lead with Him the residents of Abraham’s bosom taking them home to heaven. Ephesians 4:8. Paradise or Abraham’s bosom is now empty however the hot dry place still has residents awaiting Judgement day. We know this because Jesus sits at the right hand of God and where God is, is heaven. Rom 8:34. Secondly Paul told us to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. 2 Cor. 5:6 so we know we no longer go to sheol to reside in Abraham’s bosom but rather straight to heaven to be with the Lord. Can this be seen as a second chance? No. the people in Abraham’s bosom died in faith looking for the promise (Messiah), the ones in the hot dry place died refusing to acknowledge their need for a relationship with God. Again we simply do not know how God will handle those that have never heard of Jesus but this we can be assured it will be just. I tried to do the subject justice using only a few key verses, understand further evidence of this is spread throughout the Bible. EdB |

Joe I will probably hate myself for jumping in here but :-) If what your saying is true what is the answer to Romans 10:14 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? Joe I really believe Romans 1 is saying even nature attests to God's glory, His existence if you look for it, however it doesn't say nature will teach you about your need for salvation. I would think an refromer like you would understand the total depravity of man. I'm not trying to start a C and A war. I just don't believe the Bible tells us what will happens to people that haven't heard the Gospel of Christ. If you do okay but I think you stand on shakey ground if you stand on Romans 1 EdB |

5149 | Will unbelievers be raised from Sheol? | Rev 21:8 | EdB | 32007
Joe We agree, I thought you were saying the Romans 1 revealed the Gospel. I think we are both saying it reveals God and to be become a believer one needs to hear and accept the gospel. We then divide where you rather dogmatically :-) say unless you hear and believe the gospel you are lost. I'm saying if you hear and fail to believe the gospel you are lost but I don't know what happens to people that never heard the gospel. If they are lost then that is just, if on the other hand they are “somehow saved” that also is just. EdB |

5150 | Will unbelievers be raised from Sheol? | Rev 21:8 | EdB | 32016
Joe I can agree with everything you said but then I come to Luke 12:47-48 And that servant who knew his master's will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating. [48] But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more. I just can't get that line drawn in the sand. EdB |

5151 | Temple and No Temple? | Rev 21:22 | EdB | 62273
Mommapbs This is getting philosophical now. May I suggest our relationship with God is changing. God in the garden was the Creator but also seemed to have a fatherly aspect. God after the fall was a God to worshipped and obeyed, but is high and lifted up. God in the New Heaven and New Earth is God the Father again. Your right we see in Isaiah 6 God the majestic in the Temple of God where smoke and thunder filled the room. Angels cried holy holy holy. (I like that part). In Revelation 21-22 we see God among the people. There is still worship of Him but instead of being in a temple God is among the people receiving the Glory, honor and love due Him. EdB |
