5041 | Seven Church "ages"? Is it scriptural? | Revelation | EdB | 96106
John Forgot to mention the Historic view can be seen in the works of Anselm of Havelberg 1129-1155, in Robert of Deutz 1111-1129, later Joachim of Flois 1130-1201 and it seemed to be the favorite view of Marin Luther 1500 all long before the church in America was really a factor. In fact Historisism is considered the approach to Revelations of the Reformation and the Preterist view championed by the Jesuits was forward as a defense to that teaching. EdB |

Reighnskye I see someone else gave you some examples. Revelations is a very hard book to get your arms around just reading through it. It must be studied and studied hard. When I study prophecy such as the Book of Revelation I try to apply these seven principals. 7 Rules regarding prophecy. 1. Understand prophecy as history written before hand. 2. Give the same meaning to words of prophecy as you do words of history. 3. Do not seek hidden meanings. 4. Do not think prophecy must be fulfilled before it can be understood. 5. Do not interpret God's own interpretation of any thing in prophecy. 6. Take all prophecy literally unless it is clear that you can't have a literal meaning. Then get the literal truth conveyed by the figurative language. 7. Let the Bible be it's own interpreter. I think if you will study the Book appling these principals you will be able to answer many of your questions for yourself. EdB |

One more time John 1:1-5 (NASB) 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. The Word was with God and the Word was God. Jesus is God. Jesus inspired the whole Bible. Jesus is also directly quoted in the Bible. Jesus and God are one. EdB |

5045 | Jesus and keys to hell and hades | Rev 1:18 | EdB | 11866
Satan never had them look at Job. God told Satan how far he could go with Satan. God told not to take his life. God controlled life and death. God always had them and in Matthew 28 where Jeus says he was given all authority means the Father gave Him the all authority even the keys to death hell and the grave.
5046 | where does it say when jesus went to hel | Rev 1:18 | EdB | 115454
Norm Hebrews 2:14 is talking of spiritual death not physical. And what was that power? It was his place as an accuser, as a roaring lion seeking to steal, kill and destroy, as a deciever, and as a liar. Satan never had the true power of death, note Job chapter 1 and 2 God clearly and distinctly told Satan what he could and could not do to Job. Notice also that Satan remained obedient to God. Even Satan knows God is God. EdB |

5047 | where does it say when jesus went to hel | Rev 1:18 | EdB | 115530
Satan Can and will deceive us from believing in Jesus. Many at the put of salvation do not follow through becasue they feel they are unworthy or have time, or it all a giant myth etc. How else can he be called a roaring lion seeking to steal kill and destroy. Jesus us not to fear the one that can only kill the body. Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. EdB |

5048 | where does it say when jesus went to hel | Rev 1:18 | EdB | 115532
Let me try this again. Satan can and will deceive us from believing in Jesus. Many at the point of salvation do not follow through because they feel they are unworthy or still have time, or it is all a giant myth etc. How else can he be called a roaring lion seeking to steal kill and destroy. John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. The other reference was incorrect. Sorry EdB |

Hank I know what your talking about my wife and I will celebrate our 40th aniversary this year. I still remember thinking after 5 years we had been married long and that I must be getting old. Oh boy would I love to that "old" again. Your right about our friend in Jesus as the years slip by he just seems to become a better friend each and every day. EdB |

5051 | John 10:10 Who is responsible for death? | Rev 1:18 | EdB | 236798
Sorry I didn't mean to be, nor to sound self righteous at all. My inclusion of David was not to focus on why the child was sick and died but rather on how a righeous man looks at it. David had hope, he would see his son again. That is the same hope all those in Christ have to see loved ones again. As to the why, why do bad things happen we don't know other than to say it is a result of sin. We don't know why God allowed it but we do know we have a promise where God said He would make all things work to our good. How does a death of a young child work to our good? I have no idea but I don't doubt that it will. Too many times people to fail to say, "You are God and I'm not. And as God you have the right to make any demand on my life that serves your purpose. However you are also a good God and have promised that what ever occurs in my life You will make it work to my good because I love you and I'm called to your purpose." |

Again I apologized for that statement as I made it. Be assured I would never say what I did to a person that suffered the lost. You identified yourself as someone that was trying to comfort the parents of this child. My intent which was a wrong was to make sure you weren’t perpetuating their bitterness of lost by the questioning of God. God did not bring death into this world, sin did. And one day God is going to eliminate death. However the fact is, we all are going to die one day unless the Lord returns first. Death is a fact of life. It is also a fact that our death is going to be a lost to our loved one no matter our age. By asking God, "how can you allow this to happen?" Is perhaps suggesting to God that He doesn't know what He is doing, or that God doesn't care for us. Or that God owes us some kind of understanding or explanation of His actions. A death of anyone is lost and of a child is particularly hard, but we must trust God. We must believe that God knows what is best and is doing what must be done for His glory and honor to be seen. It is natural for parents of a child that dies to ask why and yes to even be angry at God. What is wrong is to accuse God of being uncaring, unloving or being cruel. We have to make sure what we say in response to their questions does not increase their anger at God or shift the fault on to them. In the Book of Job we see examples of all of this. Jobs friends blamed Job, Job’s wife wanted Job to curse God and die, Job himself regretted his life but Job never blamed God. I believe innocent children go immediately into the presence of the Lord. Where they suffer no more fear, sadness, hunger, hurt, regret or anger. Perhaps instead of trying to answer such questions it is better to cry with them and remind them that one day they will spend eternity together. |

5055 | Who are the nicholitan | Rev 2:6 | EdB | 239539
I was taught the heresy of Nicholitan was traceable to the deacon Nicolas chosen in Acts 6:5. But his Heresy was the elevation of clergy over laity and it was his teaching that tried to exalt the hierarchy of the church above the common man or the laity in pews.
5056 | Is Jezebel part of the church? | Rev 2:20 | EdB | 78250
KingdomWalker Not to minimize the work of the adversary and his henchmen what your talking about is unrestrained flesh not a spirit. Romans 1:28-31 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 2 Cor. 12:20 For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults; 1 Tim. 5:13 And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not. It is very popular to blame human sin on spirits and I know there is a current teaching circulating about the “spirit of Jezebel that has invaded the church”, but what is called a spirit is nothing more than flesh. All through Proverbs we are cautioned on the danger of an unbridled tongue. That is exactly what your describing as the spirit of Jezebel. You can call it a spirit if you want but realize it is nothing more than flesh that hasn’t been crucified daily. EdB |

KingdomWalker Let me say I agree with you in what you said, yes people can be influenced by demonic activity. You gave some excellent examples of this happening. The main thing to remember is, demons are not omnipresent they can only be in one place at a time. Therefore if they are influencing one they can't be anywhere else. While we have no idea of the possible number of demons there has to be some limitation. Therefore they I believe they have a tendency to focus on the biggest bang for the buck. In other words they are not going to waste much time with someone that can only influence a handful of people. I believe they go after big fish, men and women that influence thousands and millions. What is the cut off here no one knows as it depends on how many demons exist. Today as in the past many blame demons for problems that are caused by unsubmitted flesh. However today we have many false teachers proclaiming demons, and spirits that seize churches, cities, communities and people, teaching false spiritual warfare all of which is done for no other reason than making a buck. I’m more convinced lust of the eye, lust of the flesh and pride of life has destroyed more people, churches, ministries, communities than all the work of the adversary and his henchmen put together. More ministry has been corrupted because the men and women have taken their eyes off God and placed them on physical rewards than all the gossip in the world. EdB |

5058 | Hearing and Heeding the Holy Spirit | Rev 2:29 | EdB | 243516
Are we to be lead of man or by the Holy Spirit? Romans 8:14 (NASB) 14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. We sometimes place to much importance to where men have placed signposts and ignore the leading of the Holy Spirit which is promised to take us into a more complete relationship with God. The failures of man are important to observe so we don’t repeat their mistakes but the one that leads us should not be man but rather the Holy Spirit. |
