41923 | Whose Name is on #12 | Rev 21:14 | DocTrinsograce | 126310
The disciples drew lots in order to pick the 12th apostle (Acts 1:26). This they did prior to Pentecost, in spite of the fact that Christ had instructed them to go to Jerusalem and wait (Acts 1:4). We never hear of Matthias again. Later, however, we find that Paul becomes an apostle (see the first verse of the first chapter of most of his epistles). Paul clearly tells us that God chose him to be an apostle. Will Matthias or Paul be on the 12th foundation stone? If Paul, then the disciples must have erred in trying to move ahead of the Lord's will. |

As an architect I believe Rev. 21 10-16 can be taken literally. These are actual dimensions and materials rather than merely symbolic. Any objections? In Christ's Name, KYMAK agent http://www.geocities.com/douglas36601/KYMAK.html |

41933 | Will that family be together in heaven? | Rev 21:23 | ronspruell | 174855
I was just watching TV and a commercial came on for the Mormon church which I thought was a question I wanted or needed answering. The young son had just got up in the middle of the night and he came to his dad's bedroom standing next to his bed he asked him when will all go to heaven will we be together? His gold fish had died and I guess this brought on the question. Some of you may have seen this commerical already. Now lets say we have a family, all Christians, the mother the father and a young girl say she is about 15 teen and a boy 5 years old. Lets say the 15 year old girl has being saved and then there is the son which is 5 years old and I don't believe knows about being saved yet althou he has been around church all of his life and has been dedicated in church. This scenario brings out several questions in one I guess.BG They have a car accident and all are killed at the same time. Will they all be together in heaven. You know I always assumed that when we go to heaven we will know each other as we are known on earth but if there is no grief in heaven and I have a son I dearly love and he doesn't accept Christ as his savior will I moarn for him, for my self? How could I if there isn't any grief. Well I guess lets just forget that because I think that opens up a whole new question. Will that family be together in heaven? Ron Spruell |

41934 | Who knows? | Rev 21:27 | charis | 7363
Dear saints, The Lamb's book of life. I think it is agreed that the book of life was written 'from the foundation of the world.' I have seen many acrid arguments about whose name is written and-or not written in it. My question is, "Who knows?" The obvious answer is, "Only God knows." Does anyone have a better answer? If not, then all of the 'spitting venom and caterwauling' is moot. As far as I can see, God has not chosen to share with us this knowledge. We have a job to live in Him, and encourage others to do so by preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I see that a lot of Christians are wasting their precious time with the pursuit of pure theory (and fancy) rather than studying God (theology). If we know about God, we wil know how to live in Him, and with His people. "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10 KJV. If the result of our study is division, strife, and unfruitful speculation, then we are serving the thief. If the result of our study is unity, fellowship and love, then we are serving the Lord. In Jesus' name, charis |

41935 | Arminian view of Called Rm 8:30? | Rev 21:27 | Chris | 7398
Hey Tim, I wanted to ask some questions about the Arminian view. I will be focusing my comments on Romans 8:29-30. I want to clarify some definitions according to this view: Foreknowledge (v29) - GOD knowing before hand who would be justified before Him through accepting Jesus Christ (believer’s acceptance) and who would be damned based upon their rejection of Jesus Christ. Correct? Called (v30) - Divine Call unto Salvation? (Strong’s #2564) I know that the word is used in Matthew 22:14 as ‘invited,’ but in Paul’s writing, how is this word defined? Do you believe this ‘call’ is revocable, as used in 8:29-30? I have always been bent toward freewill, and I probably always will be, but what I don’t understand is, if GOD foreknew who would choose Him of their own freewill, why did He ‘call’(2564) them(us)? And, if #2564 as Paul uses it is a ‘Divine Call’ unto Salvation, wouldn’t the fact that GOD ‘called’ all He foreknew still lead us to the conclusion of Eternal Security? GOD foreknows who will remain faithful to the end, but He only ‘calls’ those who do finish the course. So, wouldn’t the folks who fall short not be ‘Genuine Christians’ because they were never ‘called’ by GOD? As I’ve mentioned before, I am an Election/Responsibility person. As I understand it, this view fully recognizes man’s responsibility considering the unlimited atonement of Christ and the clear teaching that ‘whosoever will’ can be saved. This view completely rejects the idea of GOD predetermining some to hell, if someone goes to hell s/he holds the blame. However, this view also recognizes the Sovereignty of GOD in the Election of the saints (personal and corporate). How these two truths come together is beyond our realm of comprehension, but they are both clearly taught in Scripture (according to this view:-). |
